Do you think there is a ghost(鬼) in the world? More than 20 years ago, a student jumped from the top of the clock tower in the University of Birmingham. He did this only because he failed his final exam.

Although Birmingham is the second largest city in Britain, the university is green and quiet. 举一反三
We live on the earth. We use the sea around us. What do we take from the ocean? And what do we give to it?
We take fishes from the ocean—millions of kilograms of fish, every year, to feed millions of people.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}  We take minerals(矿物) from the ocean. We can get salt by evaporating(蒸发) seawater.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Many other minerals, such as gold, can be also got from the sea, but not by simple evaporation.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Seaweed(海草) becomes food of many kinds— even candy, and ice cream—as well as medicine. Believe it or not, fresh water is another gift from the sea. We can't drink ocean water. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  But ocean water becomes fresh water when the salts are removed. In the future, we will find ourselves depending more and more on fresh water from the sea.
The sea gives us food, fertilizer, minerals, water and other gifts. What do we give the sea? We pollute the ocean all the time. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Throwing waste into the ocean is killing off sea life. Yet as the world population grows, we may need the sea and its gifts more than ever.
We are finally learning that if we destroy our sea, we might also destroy ourselves. Hopefully, it is not too late.
根据以上内容,从下列五个选项中选择适当的句子还原到短文中,使短文完整与正确。

A. Other gifts from the sea , such as seaweed, can be also got from the sea.
B. Huge as it is, the ocean can't hold all that we pour into it.
C. Along with salt, other minerals are left after evaporation.
D. We even use their bones(骨头) for fertilizer(化肥).
E. Some of its contents(所含物) may cause illness.

We always look forward to World Book Day—it's a chance to share our love of books and reading with even more people! Here are some of the activities in different countries and places to celebrate the World Book Day, April 23rd every year.

    School Children's Books

School Children's Books are happy that best-selling writer Holly Webb is their World Book Day writer for 2012. Holly has written a large number of books for children and she has written a special Magic Molly story just for this year's World Book Day!

    Reading Package

On the World Book Day, every primary school student in Britain will receive a package from their school. Inside, there is a story book, a beautiful card and a reading list. Besides these three things, they will also receive a special note, which is worth one pound. Children can use it to buy their favorite books. And they can also enjoy a special price-20% cheaper.

    Share of Reading

It is an interesting on-line activity which is for one week. People can share their opinions of a book on line. There are also many reading-aloud activities in libraries. For example, in 2010's World book Day the former US first lady Michelle Obama read aloud a book called The Cat in The Hat for more than 200 children in a library.

If you ask people of different countries "Could you tell me the way to the post office?" you will get different answers.

In Japan, people use landmarks(路标)instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers, "Go straight down to the corner. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The post office is across from the bus stop. "

In Kansas, America, there are no towns or buildings within miles. So instead of landmarks, people will tell you directions and distance. For example, people will say, "Go north two miles. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} "

    People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions. They will often say, "Follow me." {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

Sometimes if a person doesn't know the answer to your question, he or she might say, "Sorry, I have no idea." But in Yucatan, Mexico, no one answers "I don't know." {#blank#}4{#/blank#}They usually give an answer, but often a wrong one. A visitor can often get lost in Yucatan!

Our Class Rules

Hello, everybody! I'm Lisa from Darwin International School. Today our class had a discussion about the class rules. Here are our different points.

Some think we should listen to the teachers very carefully in class and write down the notes because schoolwork is the most important. At school when we are doing our homework, do not  talk—that may disturb(打扰) others. It is necessary to hand in our homework in time every day.

The mobile phone is not allowed to be taken to our class because it may be bad for our study.

Some think how to be a polite student is more important. We should pay attention to our manners. For example, when you cough, turn your head away from others and cover your mouth with your hand. Afterward, you should say, "Excuse me." Greet the teachers by saying something like, "Good morning Mrs. Graham!" In the dining hall, we should keep quiet while having lunch. After we eat, we must clean our tables and don't leave any litter. It is also important to answer all questions with a complete sentence.

Our teacher Mr Jackson also showed his ideas. He said, "No matter what happens, always be honest. Accept that you are going to make mistakes. Learn from them and move on."

In my opinion, it's a good idea to wear the school uniforms(校服)on weekdays because I will never think about what to wear next day!

l  We shouldn't take mobile phones to school.
