根据下面短文内容,在短文的空格处填上一个恰当的词,使短文完整、通顺。

    A big company wanted to find someone to work for them. Lots of young college students came to  for the job, but only a small part of them were left. And this time, the company didn't plan to choose the right persons as usual.

    Here came the day when they took the final interview. A big box  of papers was placed on the way to the interview room, and a few papers were lying around the box.

    The first student came. He hurried along the way to take the interview. “Who put this  in the middle of the road?” the student said to himself, but he did not try to move the box away. Instead, he passed around the box and continued his way.

The second student came along and did the same thing. Then another came, and another. All of them complained (抱怨) about the box but of them tried to move it. What's worse, someone even stepped (踩) on the papers and left without having a look at the things on the ground.

    Half an hour later, a thin young man with glasses came. He was also  those who were left to take the interview. He saw the box and the papers around it. Without thinking twice, he  and began to pick up the papers and put them into the box. Then he managed to move the box to the side. To his great , he found an invitation under the box. On it were the following words, “Congratulations, young man! You are the  person we are looking for! Would you like to join us?”

      Sometimes, you see, helping others is helping yourself.

   It was Monday. Mrs. Smith's dog was hungry, but there was not any meat in the house. 短文填空

    When you talk with someone, you'll need to end your conversation at some point. And there{#blank#}1{#/blank#} many reasons why you need to do that. Either you or the other person may need to continue an activity, such {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  working or shopping. Or you may have run out of things to say. You just want to keep the conversation short.

    But{#blank#}3{#/blank#} do you end a conversation in a polite way?It may {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  on where and how the conversation started. It may also depend on your relationship with the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}person. If you already know that person, you can just say, "I need to run now." Or you can say, "I'll catch you later." You may also give a reason for ending the conversation. "I really need to go—my piano class starts in ten {#blank#}6{#/blank#}."

    Perhaps you just meet someone in a social situation(社交场合), and you have a nice talk. But then you have to go. You can say, "It was nice meeting you. Maybe we can talk happily again sometime in the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}."

    Another way to end a conversation is to make it easy for the other person to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} . If you see the other person is already not patient, you can say, "Well, I'm sure you have a lot to do today."

You could use these {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to end a conversation, and you should notice that others may also use them. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} they do so, you should know that it's time for you to stop and get on with your day.
