Life today is much{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . However, there are new problems. One of the biggest ones is pollution. Water {#blank#}2{#/blank#} has made rivers dirty. It kills fish and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us speak {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  and become angry more {#blank#}5{#/blank#} . Air pollution is the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} serious kind of pollution. It's bad for all {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  things in the world.

Who Needs Money?

    The kids in my class are doing an experiment to show that we don't need to spend money to have {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (娱乐), so we aren't going to buy anything for a whole week! All the money we {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (节省) will go to charity. Keep reading to see how it goes!

Day 1:

    I went to a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (免费的) concert with Rachel this evening. We had a great time {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (直到……为止) it started raining! We had to walk home.

Day 2:

    The weather was still bad this morning, and my {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (电脑) didn't work. It needed to be fixed, but I knew it would {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (花费) money, so I asked Jake for help. He {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (设法) to fix it and I lent him some DVDs that he needed. We were both happy!

Day 3:

How can you get some new clothes without going {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (购物)? The answer — a Second-hand Clothes Party. Everyone's got things they don't wear any more, butthat someone else might like. My {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (朋友) and I had a great time trying things on at our party. We {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (避免) waiting in line at the stores. I went home with lots of ‘new' clothes!

Day 4:

    Don and his son, Allen, love basketball very much. On Allen's {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (第十) birthday, Don decided to drive him to Chicago, for the first game of the World Championships. The car ride took them two hours. They had no tickets but hoped to buy two from other people.

    After arriving, they walked in the streets for two hours, carrying a sign which said, “We need two tickets.” But the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(最便宜的) ticket was $175 and they could not {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(买得起) it. They were about to leave when a {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(陌生人) stopped them. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(拉; 拖) out two tickets and handed them to Don. “How much do you want?” “Free ! No money is needed!” said the man.

    When asked, the man explained. “I am working for Joe, who hasn't {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(错过) a World Championships for 16 years. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(但是), he is ill and he can't make it this time. So he told me to give the two tickets away. The only rule he set is to give the tickets to people who really needed them. A lot of people looked as if they might just take the tickets and sell them quickly. Then I saw you. You remind me of my dad and myself when I was a child. I really wanted to go to see a World Championships game at that time. But I never got the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(机会).” With the tickets, we entered the court {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(高兴地).

    It's an important and unforgettable game that Don and his son watched! Here is what Don said, “It's{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (值得的) remembering it. My boy and I must have turned to each other 30 times duringthe game. I can't forget that night.”
