The 1600s A German called Johann Georghehner created the "dachshund" sausage. "Dachshund" is a German small long thin dog. Tad Dorgan, saw the red hot "dachshund sausages sold on streets. He wanted to draw a picture of it, but he wasn't sure how to spell "dachshund, so he simply wrote: Hot Dog".
