Many of you have watched a Superman cartoon or movie. But did you know he first appeared in comics(连环漫画)? Do you want to learn more about popular comic books around the world? Take a look!

Do you find reading boring? Have a read of some comic books. You will learn to love their colorful pictures and simple language.

Comic books usually tell stories through cartoons. The US and Japan have some great comic books. But they are not the same.

Their names are different. People say "comic books" in the US but "manga" in Japan.

American comics are often about superheroes—characters like Superman and Spider Man. So action is a major part of American comics. But Japanese manga like to tell stories of ordinary people. Luffy in One Piece is such an example.

American comics make people excited with super powers, while Japanese manga comfort(安慰) people with moving stories. Natsume's Book of Friends is about a teenage boy. He can see spirits（精灵）. He is confused(困惑的) at first but later he makes friends with spirits.

If you are not interested in these two kinds, why not try some from China? Xia Da, 32, is a great comic book artist from China. Some of her comics are about school life. Others show the beauty of Chinese culture.

Which day is the most important for you? Your birthday, the first day of your work or the day you win a prize. Many teenagers may think their birthday is the happiest time because they can receive many wonderful presents and have much fun with their friends. Others may regard the starting day of their work as the most meaningful. They think it's the first big step in their life and they can depend on themselves. They like to deal with challenges rather than to ask for the help of adults.
According to a survey, more than half of the Chinese people, certain ages and birthdays are especially important. One hundred days after a baby's birth has special meaning. On that day, relatives(亲戚) and friends come to bless the baby. In northern part of China, like Inner Mongolia, a child's 12th birthday is a big day. This is when a child becomes a teenager. Eighteen is another important age, which means you must be responsible(负责任的) for what you have done in laws. As for adults, maybe the anniversary of their marriage(结婚周年庆) is the most important. For some old people, the 60th or 70th birthday is also very important. They like to be cared about by all his family and friends, and the big family get-together can provide them a good chance to recall(回忆) the past.

    In the past ten years, many scientists have studied the differences between men and women. And they all got the same answer: The sexes (性别) are different, because their brains are different. And this, the scientists say, makes men and women see the world in different ways.
    Boys, for example, generally are better than girls at mathematical (数学的) ideas. Boys also generally are better than girls at the kind of hand and eye movements necessary for ball sports. Girls, on the other hand generally start speaking earlier than boys. And they generally see better in the dark than boys and are better at learning foreign languages.
    What makes men and women better at one thing or another? The answer is the brain. The brain has two sides connected by nerve(神经) tracks. The left side generally is used for mathematics, speech and writing. The right side is used for artistic creation and the expression for emotions. In men and women, different areas in each side of the brain develop differently. In boys, for example, it's the area used for mathematics. In girls, it is the area used for language skills. Another interesting difference is that the two sides of a man's brain are connected by smaller nerves than the two sides of a woman's brain area.

Sports, school are tiring. But there is a great way to unwind after all of those activities. Go to north London, to the coolest part of the city—Camden. There you can find fashion trends (流行，趋向) and famous people.
Sam and I walked down Camden High Street and made our way to a bridge over Regent's Canal. It is a 9-mile man-made river that goes through London.
We went into a big market and saw crazy signs, fun T-shirts, and things like hand-made earrings for sale. We bought Chinese fried noodles. It tasted very different from the noodles we make at home, and we ate it with a fork instead of chopsticks!
Camden is famous for the punk（朋克）style that started in the 1970s. Punks walked around with bright pink and green hair, broken clothes with safety pins, metal buttons（纽扣）and pierced ears and lips. Punk music shops played loud, heavy rock music.
But there were also groups of hippies（嬉皮士）with big sweaters. They sat in cafes drinking soymilk, with black clothes, black lipstick and painted white faces.
Besides all these “normal” people, a lot of famous people come to Camden. Actor Orlando Bloom from Pirates of the Caribbean lives there.
Camden is especially known as a home to famous musicians. Lots of top bands played here, including Coldplay, Oasis—and Sam's favourite band, The Vaccines. I had never heard of them before—But luckily they were playing that night in Camden.

Smartphone ban(禁止)

According to the survey made last year, 68.1 percent of Chinese school students have their own smartphones.

Lei Yanqin, a deputy of NPC, suggested that smartphones should be banned at schools nationwide. She said that listening to music and playing games in class not only disturb teachers, but also make it difficult for students to listen carefully. She added that students might also show off (炫耀) their phones too much.

New uniform designs

Most junior high schools in China require students to wear a uniform. However, only three in ten students are satisfied with their uniforms, as they think they are old-fashioned and of poor quality, China Education Daily reported.

The Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang Central Committee suggested that the uniforms could be redesigned. The committee said the new design could include more elements(元素) of traditional Chinese culture. They added that better quality clothing should be used to make the uniforms so that they will be more comfortable to wear.

Video game rating system

Over 200 million teenagers across China play online games like King of Glory, Guangming Daily reported. With their computers and ipads, teenagers are able to play most online games produced in China and abroad. However, some violent games might not be suitable for young people.

Many NPC deputies suggested that a rating system(分级制度) for online games should be introduced. All games would be sorted into age groups according to their content. Players would have to provide their ID numbers before playing certain games.
