人教新目标(Go for it)版初中英语八年级下学期期末考试模拟试卷(一)

根据短文内容,选择正确答案。

Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying, "Friends are God's way of taking care of us." But how do you find real friendship and keepit?

The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed(种子) and take care of it to make it grow.

First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient(耐心的). For example,  if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints(抱怨) and do his orher best to help. To make a friend, you can't betoo shy. You should make each other happy.

But things can't lways be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fright with your friend? You have to talk to him or her. When there isno one around, have an honest talk. If he or she doesn't want to talk, you could write a letter. There are three steps to being friends again:

Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain(解释) why you did this or that;  remember that friendship is the most important thing in your life.

Do you often play with your cellphone before bedtime? According to a study, 72% of the students use their cellphones in their sleep environment. Scientists have found a "strong connection" between the use of cellphones at bedtime and poor sleep.

The first reason is that using cellphones can make your brain too excited. Besides, the light from a cellphone influences how the body normally works and then leads to poor sleep. Without enough sleep, you may find it difficult to pay attention to what teachers say the next day. Also, you'll easily get absent-minded and sleepy during the daytime. As a result, it seems more and more difficult for you to learn so many subjects.

Doctors say getting good and enough sleep is very important for learning difficult subjects like math and foreign languages. They advise students to stop looking at cellphones at least half an hour before bedtime, because it helps their brains slow down and gets their bodies ready for sleep.

If you want to pick up a cellphone at bedtime, try the following activities:

*Keep a diary: Thoughts and worries can make you anxious at night. Writing thoughts on paper can clear your mind.

*Try a mind exercise: Close your eyes and count backwards from 100 to 1.

*Take a deep breath: Breathe in and out slowly and deeply. Just relax.

 根据语篇内容, 选择最佳选项。

Here are the posts in a chat(聊天) room on the Internet. In this chat room, parents are talking about some of the problems they have with their children.

Marisa

Is it ever OK to lie to a child? My 10- year- old son plays soccer. He's not very good at it, but he loves it. Yesterday he played very badly but happily. When he finished the game, he asked," Did I play well?"I said,"  * Yes! You' re a great soccer player!" Did I do the right thing?

Bay212

Yes, you did the right thing. Sometimes you have to tell lies that are not harmful. It's necessary to tell white lies in life. Your purpose was to make him feel good. Now he's ready to play soccer again.

Bemie

I don't think there is ever a good reason to lie to our children. Parents are children's examples. We should be honest in order to teach honesty to our children. If you keep hiding truth from them, they will not trust you or respect you. Honesty is the first step to build a good relationship between parents and children.

Missy

You lied to make your son feel better, but you missed a good chance to teach him a life lesson. People should work hard for what they want. Maybe next time you can say, " No! You didn't play well today. Great soccer players practice a lot. Let's go and practice." Tho truth will make him strong and a good soccer player.

Parviz

Parents should be honest to their children, but they don't have to tell the whole truth. Next time when your son asks, " Did I play well?" you can say,  " What do you think?" Then your son can tell you what he thinks. That way, everything you say is true, and you avoid the truth that hurts him.

 请从方框内选择适当的词并用其正确形式填空,使文章完整连贯。注意每空一词,每词仅用一次, 有两词为多余项。

There was a bell (铃铛) on the door of Pappy's shop. It could play pleasant music. Pappy loved it very much.

One day, a little girl walked into his shop." Hello, sir," she greeted him {#blank#}1{#/blank#}."I'd like to buy a present for my grandpa, but I don't know {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I can choose."

" How about a watch?" Pappy suggested.

The little girl didn't answer. She pointed {#blank#}3{#/blank#} that bell and said," I'd like to buy it."

"I'm {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. That's not for sale," Pappy replied." Maybe your grandpa would like this {#blank#}5{#/blank#} radio."

The girl looked at the radio and {#blank#}6{#/blank#} her head. She then begged (祈求道)," Please."

Suddenly Pappy thought of his daughter Mary. He hadn't seen {#blank#}7{#/blank#} for years since she moved abroad. The little girl looked just like Mary, who used to make polite {#blank#}8{#/blank#} like that.

Though Pappy felt a bit sad, he finally agreed.

Later that evening, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Pappy closed up the shop, he heard a familiar(熟悉的) sound. There in the doorway stood the little girl, ringing the bell. Beside her was his own {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, with the biggest smile he had ever seen.

" Mom says the present is for you," the little girl said.

① China's population is growing larger and larger, but Mr Li finds there are fewer and fewer people in his home town. Born in the countryside near Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, Mr Li now works at a university in Nanjing. When he was a kid, there were about2, 000 resident (常驻的) villagers.    ▲  And most of them are old people and children. That's because young people leave their home town to work in the cities. In fact, moving to cities is a common phenomenon (现象) in China. There are many reasons why people would leave the countryside and move to a city. Let's learn three of them.

② More jobs Where there are more people, there are more jobs. In another word, there are fewer jobs in the countryside. This is the main reason why so many people leave the countryside and towns to live in big cities.

③ Better education (教育) For parents, it's very important for their kids to get well- educated. Usually good primary schools, middle schools and high schools are in big cities. Well, some parents have to leave their home town to work in cities, but they can't pay for their kids' education in cities. As a result, these kids become left- behind (留守的) ones.

④ The way of life The life in big cities is much more interesting and colourful than that in the countryside. Many move to a big city to experience many kinds of things, such as food, activities and movies.

⑤ Well, except for the reasons above, what else do you think can also cause the phenomenon?
