2016年中考英语真题试卷(湖北宜昌卷)

根据短文内容选择最佳答案;

Tyler was a troublesome student. He sat in the back row. Every time I called him to answer questions, he'd reply with a flip(轻率的)answer. If he got it wrong, he would get very angry.
Usually kids could sit quietly in class. However, Tyler was just loud. One day, Tyler was talking while I was teaching. I said to him, “Tyler, why not join in our discussion instead of having one of your own?” He got up from his chair, pushed it over, and shouted something I can't remember. I sent him to the office and he received a week's out-of-school punishment.
The week was a wonderful time for me, but when it came to an end, I began to feel worried. So I came up with a plan. On the day of his return, I told him I wanted to start over with him. If he felt like he was going to lose control in class, he could step outside the door for a moment.
From then on, Tyler was a changed student in my classroom. In fact he was a smart child and he even stopped a fight between two students one day. And he never used the privilege(特权)to leave the class for a moment. I believe that just letting him decide for himself made all the difference.
When the year was over, he wrote me a thank-you note about how good the year had been for him. I still have it today and find it very moving to reread when I get stressed about teaching.

(1)、When Tyler was talking in class, the teacher advised him to        .

A、join in their discussion B、have his own discussion C、get up from his chair D、go out of school
(2)、Tyler changed after        .

A、shouting at the teacher B、losing control in class C、having the privilege to decide for himself D、helping the teacher manage the class
(3)、Tyler did all the following things EXCEPT        .

A、sitting in the back row B、leaving the class for a moment C、stopping a fight between two students D、not listening to teachers in class
(4)、Every time the teacher reads the thank-you note, he feels        .

A、stressed B、worried C、satisfied D、moved
(5)、The passage is mainly about        .

A、how Tyler got the punishment B、how Tyler changed to be a good student C、how the teacher dealt with Tyler's return D、how the teacher felt about Tyler's thank-you note

We often hear stories of animals rescuing people. But now someone has managed to return the favor.

The event took place one snowy January morning Thomas Smith was walking his dog,Jack,in the park."As I was walking,I just saw Jack running onto the ice towards the ducks in the middle, and then he fell into the water and couldn't climb out,"said Smith. He realized he had no choice but to try and save his dog."someone else told me the lake was only one﹣meter deep, but it was at least twice that.I had to break my way through the 6﹣cm ice. Finally,I got Jack by the neck, and pulled him out.I don't think I have ever felt so cold by the time we got back to dry land. And when we got there, everyone was asking if Jack was okay﹣﹣﹣﹣﹣﹣no one was particularly worried, about me!"

A neighbor,Julie Brown, saw it all happen."The dog went onto an icy lake. All of a sudden,it started to go under. There were crowds of people around, and they were all shouting and screaming. Before I knew it,the owner Smith was in the water forcing his way through the ice.I can't begin to imagine how cold it was.Everyone was very nervous, but he was as cool as a cucumber﹣﹣﹣﹣﹣he just crawled back out,put the dog on its lead, and went home."

Many regard him as a hero, but Mr.Smith is quite laid﹣back about it."Most dog owners are the same as me.They would do what I did without a second thought. But in the future,I'm going to make sure he's on lead near any ice ponds,Pets are members of our family.Would you do the same for them?

One Thursday afternoon, when I was in Grade 9, a new boy came into my classroom. He was short and thin. He walked up to the teacher and told her, very seriously, that he was new. His name was Christian. He sat down, took a look at me, and then looked away. I didn't think he was very nice and I was sure he wasn't the type I would like to make friends with.

During that year, I didn't talk to him much, but he smiled at me when our eyes met, always shyly. He never ate lunch with anybody, and he never talked to anybody but me.

But one day I joined those unkind kids who were making fun of him. We made fun of him though I thought it was wrong.

"Haven't you got any friends?" a kid asked Christian, who had walked past us alone, with his head down.

"No, he hasn't got any friends. He's too stupid and shy," I said. Then Christian looked up at me with the saddest dog eyes I had ever seen. I felt very sorry at that moment.

That night, I couldn't sleep because I couldn't get Christian's face out of my mind. In the weeks that followed, be never met my eyes, in class and never smiled at me, It was really hard for me to decide to write him a note asking him. to forgive(原谅) me. But I thought I should.

The next day in class, I wrote him a note telling him how sorry I felt. About five minutes later, I turned and saw tears in his eyes. "You will never realize what your apology(道歉) has meant to me, Jimmy," he said to me. "I hope we can become friends."

We had lunch together that noon and we had the best talk I had ever had. Over the years at high school, we were close friends.

When I think back, I realize that, if I had not apologized, I would never have known what a lovely person Christian was.

Apologies can really change your life, so never miss the chance to tell somebody you are sorry.

Yao Jian has been teaching in the Sandun Primary School in Datong, Shanxi Province for more than 20 years. In 1998, he chose to teach village children after graduation. At that time,the conditions of the village school were terrible. Some students had to bring chairs from home to school because there weren't enough chairs. The number of students became smaller and smaller because many villagers took their children to cities. Some teachers left the school to search for better jobs too. The teachers who stayed there had to teach all the subjects.

"I come from the poor countryside and know how important education is for village children.I will continue teaching in the school till the last student leaves."Yao said.

Because of his great work, Yao was made the headmaster of the school in 2004. In the same year, his wife started working as a teacher there too. They took good care of the students as if they were their own children. Yao used to have a heart-to-heart talk with other teachers so that they could feel at home in the school and like their work.

Many of the school's graduates have entered college. Jiao Shufeng, one of them, said,"Yao was my favourite teacher. He helped me form good study habits. I was lucky to have him as my teacher when I was young. Inspired by him, I plan to be a teacher and help more left-behind children to get better education."

For centuries, humans have made great efforts to study the Moon. Galileo, the Italian astronomer, noticed the mountains and lands on the Moon with a telescope(望远镜). In 1969, the US Apollo 11 project marked the first time that humans set foot on the satellite. Recently, China' s Chang'e 6 brought back the rocks and soil from the far side of the Moon for the first time in history. You may wonder: what is the value of exploring the Moon?

Many scientists believe that the Moon was made of the rocks and dust from the baby Earth. When the solar system(系统) just formed. a Mars-sized object crashed into the Earth. The force of the crash was so great that it sent materials from the Earth, and from the object that hit it, back into the space. Some of the rocks and dust stuck together and created the Moon.

Those materials on the Moon's surface(表面) have stayed unchanged for over three billion(十亿) years, since it does not have an Earth-like atmosphere. This simple fact makes our Moon a time capsule, which allows scientists to uncover the Earth's past.

It is also about our future. In the last two decades, water was discovered on the Moon. It may help future humans look for drinkable water, breathable air, and rocket fuel outside the Earth. Besides, the Moon is a proper place to test technologies required for deep space exploration, including sending humans to Mars.

Considering the important role that moon exploration plays in scientific research and human future, scientists suggest that human activity on the Moon should avoid bringing harm to its environment.
