    Fat and shy, Ben Saunders was the last kid in his class picked for any sports team. “Football, tennis, cricket — anything with a round ball, I was useless," he says now with a laugh. But back then he was the one always made fun of in school gym classes in Devonshire, England.

Greatly interested, Saunders read all he could about North Pole explorers and adventures; he decided that this would be his future.
    In 2001, after becoming a skillful skier, Saunders started his first long—distance expedition (探险) towards the North Pole. It took unbelievable energy. He suffered frostbite, ran into a polar bear and pushed his body to the limit, pulling his sled up and over the rocky mountains.
    Saunders has become the youngest person to ski alone to the North Pole, and he's skied more of the North Pole by himself than any other British man. His old playmates would not believe the change.

"I would show up in villages and show photographs around. I went with 24 photos, and I found 24 families. "
    At the same time, he put his heart into Nepalese culture.
   Grennan said, "Volunteering is the single best way to see how the rest of the world lives."
   He also encouraged others to do what he had done. He believes that volunteering needs only making decisions to show up.
   Grennan's fight against child-trafficking has changed him. His book, Little Prince, came out last week.

The designer of the Apple Computer, Steve Jobs, was not quite successful in his early years. After he returned from India, he began to live on a farm in California. And then, in 1975, Steve Jobs set about making a new type of computer. Along with his friend Stephen Wozniak, he designed the Apple Computer in his bedroom and built it in his garage(车库). He chose the name 'Apple' because it reminded him of a happy summer he once spent on an orchard(果园) in Oregon. His Apple Computer was so successful that Steve Jobs soon became worldwide famous. But unluckily, he died of illness in 2012.

Gaynor lived in Oakenholt, a village in North Wales. On her way home from school, she saw a silver(银色的) object shaped like a saucer(茶碟) in a field not far from her home.

The strange craft(飞行物) was about 30 feet long and 9 feet high. It had yellow windows along the side and on the top there was a light flashing in a kind of box. Although Gaynor was very frightened, she did not run away. Instead, she lay quietly in the long grass and watched the door of the strange craft open. She saw two people wearing silver suits come out of the craft. They were carrying some kind of equipment(设备) which they used to examine the ground. They were short and had large pink eyes, Gaynor reported.

After about half an hour, the two people went back into the craft. At once there was a loud noise and the UFO took off.

Although Gaynor told her mother what she had seen, her family decided to keep quiet about it. They did not want people to laugh at their daughter. However, 18 months later, Gaynor told her story to UFO experts. They hypnotized(使进入睡眠状态) Gaynor so that they could be sure she was telling the truth.

Not only did she repeat her story, but also she was able to draw a picture of what she had seen!

But not for Herbert. He just sleeps. After calling a few more times my mother has to come upstairs and pull Herbert out of bed. It's that way every day with my little brother. Perhaps some day he'll learn to get up on time, but I really don't think so.
