    All over the world, animals and plants are in trouble. People are trying to find ways to help them. Here are some tips.

    Adopt an animal.

    Many zoos and wildlife organizations have programs that let kids donate money to help specific endangered animals.

    Don't release fish or pets onto the wild.

    Chances are that your pet is not native to where you live. Set loose, it might become an invasive (入侵的) species, or it might spread diseases. So keep your fish in their tank, or find them a new home but not the pond.

    Chemicals used to kill garden weeds and bugs (虫子) are a big problem for animals. Maybe if you offered to pull the weeds up instead, you could help people to use fewer poisons.

    Speak up.

    Share what you know and speak up for the animals. Write letters! Powerful people need to know that you care and you're keeping an eye on them to make sure they do their jobs right and protect the planet.

    Make less rubbish.

    Pollution and plastic rubbish are bad for animals and nature. How can you help? Take your lunch in a lunchbox or reusable bag. Bring cloth bags to the store and remind grownups if they forget.

A. Pull the weeds up.

B. Everything will go on well.

C. But what can you do in daily life?

D. Bring drinks from home in a refillable bottle.

E. It might seem kind to set pets free, but it isn't.

F. People are finding lots of ways to help the endangered species.

G. For your next birthday, why not ask your friends and family to help you adopt one?

    Reasons Why Physical Education is Important in School

    Are you looking for information about the importance of physical education in schools and why it should be emphasized? Do you want a healthy active lifestyle for your kids? Then this article can help you convince your kids that exercising and participation especially in school PE classes are important.

    It's a link to good health.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It's only in physical education classrooms that students learn the value of taking care of themselves through proper healthy eating and regular exercise.

    It's preventive measure against diseases.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Without any forms of diet management and control with the numerous processed foods students intake every day, a student's health can easily be at risk of many diseases. Physical education in schools is a preventive measure to teach students the value of regular exercise.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Physical health allows students to function even better in classrooms. A good cardiovascular(心血管的) system developing from regular exercise promotes excellent blood and oxygen circulation. This means more nutrients circulate throughout the body which includes the brain. This circulation produces longer attention time during classes allowing longer concentration and better absorption.

    It builds self-esteem

    Students who are active in physical activities like basketball, volleyball and running are more confident with themselves according to most social school studies. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}In school, the physical education program introduces these sport activities to students allowing them to make choices of which sport areas they want to get involved in.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    Most physical education programs are holistic. The program allows students to interact together to a common goal, that is, to win and excel physically. It not only brings out the competitive sides of students working with both body and mind but also promotes sportsmanship.

    It promotes a physically active lifestyle.

    The purpose of physical education is to instill(逐渐灌输) in students, at an early age, the value of self-preservation and choosing a lifestyle that is good for both the mind and body.

A. Physical education plays a vital role in students' development and growth.

B. It's a program for muscle strength and fitness.

C. It's probably because of the dedication made to a sport that brings out the best in          students.

D. It develops cooperation, teamwork and sportsmanship.

E. The value of physical fitness cannot be overstated too much.

F. It promotes academic learning.

G. Many doctors today agree that obesity is a serious health risk.

    What should you think about in trying to find your career(职业)? You are probably better at some school subjects than others. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} A boy who is good at mathematics can use that in an engineering career. A girl who spells well and likes English may be good at office work. So it is important to do well at school. On the other hand, you may not have any specially strong or weak subjects but your records show a general good result. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Knowledge of history is not required for most jobs but if history is one of your good subjects you will have learned to remember facts and details. This is an ability that can be useful in many jobs.

    Your school may have taught you skills, such as typing or technical drawing, which you can use in your work. You may be good at metal work or cooking and look for a job where you can improve these skills.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} You may have learned how to get to work on time and get on with older workers. You may have learned to give correct change in a shop, for example. Just as important, you may become interested in a certain industry or career you see from the inside in a part-time job.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} You may be all thumbs when you deal with tools; perhaps you are a poor speller or cannot add up a column of figures. It is better to face any weaknesses than to pretend they do not exist. Your school record, for instance, may not be too good, yet it is an important part of your background. You should not feel sorry for it.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. This does not have direct value for future job hunting.

B. These may show strengths that you can use in your work.

C. Facing your weak points is also part of knowing yourself.

D. Having a part-time job is a good way to find out your weak points.

E. Instead, you should recognize that you will have a chance of a fresh start at work.

F. Although not all subjects can be used directly(直接地) in a job, they may have indirect value.

G. If you have had a part-time job on Saturdays or in the summer, think what you gained from it.

    A conversation with a good listener is like a good meal—we walk away feeling satisfied and happy. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Here are 4 ways to make your conversation partner feel like you're fully tuned in to their personal radio station.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Making your conversation partner feel safe starts with two things: an open mind and keeping judgment to yourself. Just as immersing(沉浸)yourself in a novel requires suspension of disbelief, immersing yourself in listening requires suspension of opinions or advice. While judgments may appear into your head, set them to the side.

    Ask questions to follow your natural curiosity.

    When you're interested, ask questions. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Ask for examples. Ask for details. Following your natural curiosity by asking questions not only shows you are listening and interested, but almost always produces an interesting story.

    Listen with your whole body.

    In many a kindergarten classroom, teachers emphasize something called "whole body listening". It goes like this: use your eyes to watch nonverbal(非语言), your brain to think about what is being said, your heart to feel emotions» and keep the rest of your body quiet to show respect. But many of us lose it over time, especially as life gets busy. The result? We often try to multitask while listening. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Validate(使生效)with simple phrases.

    Keep in your back pocket some validating words and phrases to show you've heard someone.

    "Of course." "That makes sense." "Naturally." "Clearly." "For sure." {#blank#}5{#/blank#} In conversation, combining those little phrases: "Of course you feel that way." or "That makes total sense." doesn't necessarily convey agreement, but it does convey something even bigger: acceptance.

A. Create safety.

B. Devote yourself to listening.

C. It's appealing to talk about your own experience.

D. We half-listen while getting things done or staring at a screen.

E. Think like a journalist and ask what, when, where, why or how.

F. But being a good listener goes way beyond just not interrupting or nodding your head.

G. All of these statements confirm a person's experience or feelings as worthy and accepted.

When something goes wrong, do you tend to bounce back or fall apart? Here are some strategics to help you manage a personal setback(挫折)and get back on track toward achieving your goal.

● Realize it's normal. Less than 20 percent of people successfully achieve their goal the first time around. It's normal and expected for setbacks to occur.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Knowing this, it's important to anticipate that the main task will be how to effectively manage the setback when it arises.

● Don't deny it. Sometimes it's hard to recognize a setback. The problem can be staring at you right in the face, but you may deny there's any cause for alarm.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}This inability to acknowledge the problem doesn't mean you're stupid. It's just that denial can cloud your awareness of the issue. It's important to be receptive to the honest feedback.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Stop and consider carefully what went wrong. The most common causes of a setback are personal worries, overconfidence, and poor coping skills. Take a look at any factor that may have contributed to the setback: where you were, who you were with, what you were thinking and feeling.

● Learn from it. Learn from your analysis of the setback, and adjust your plan to try to prevent similar things from happening the next time. Each time you fine-tune your plan and put it into action again, you actually improve your odds of eventual success.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Remind yourself that your setback is a slip instead of a fall.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}After adjusting, you can still make progress toward success again.

A.Don't take it seriously.

B.Analyze what happened.

C.You haven't lost all of the knowledge, skills, and support.

D.In other words, it's not whether a challenge will happen, but it's when.

E.This is because you learn from each misstep to make your plan more effective.

F.Friends or family will voice their concerns, but you still may not be able to accept it.

G.You might even write about past experiences in a journal to guide your future behavior.
