Mails, games, music, news, chat rooms and shopping! The Interent is part of our life today. It's easy to get onto the Internet. The only thing we need to do is to use a modem(调制解调器) which is used for connecting a computer to a telephone line. The Internet is changing and growing all the time. More and more people have computers and use the Internet. Using the Internet means surfing the World Wide Web(That's the “WWW” you always hear about). The Internet has a large number of websites(网站). They are the places where you go to get information and do things.
Where do these websites come from? They are made by web designers. What happens when you click on a word or a picture? You are sent to another page. It's all because of the web designers. Web designers do a lot of work by using a computer programming(程序编制) language.
Is web design all about computer programming? No, it's about making something new. Web designers must imagine a lot when they are making a website. It must look good and be fun to use. A big part of web design is art. They choose the best pictures and colors to make the website look good. They also write the things that you see on the website. An important part of their job is to share ideas with the website manager about how to design the website well.

(1)、More and more people are using the Internet because _____.

A、it's easy and useful B、it's changing and growing C、websites are designed quite well D、people can design a computer
(2)、Which of the following is WRONG?

A、“WWW” means “World Wide Web”. B、There're a few websites on the web C、The Internet has changed people's lives D、We can do things like shopping on the Internet.
(3)、It's possible for us to change websites just by a click because of _____.

A、the modem's help B、the telephone line's help C、the web designers' work D、the website manager's work
(4)、The last paragraph is mainly about _____.

In nature, you may see many insects(昆虫) and animals of different colors. Have you ever wondered why?

Locusts are super delicious food for birds, but it is not always an easy job for birds to catch them. It is neither because locusts are good jumpers or runners nor because they are smarter than their enemies. The reason is that the colors, of locusts change with the colors of crops(庄稼). When crops are young, locusts look green. But when autumn comes, locusts change to the yellow and brown color as crops do.

Brown bears, tigers and other animals move quietly through forests. They can't be seen easily by their enemies. This is because they have colors similar to the trees. For the same reason, polar bears that live on a land of snow and ice are white. Butterflies and bees living among the flowers are colorful like flowers. Soil insects are mostly dark colored and they live under the soil(土壤)in a dark and wet environment. However, insects with colors different from plants can easily be found and eaten by others. So in order to survive, they have to hide themselves in the daytime and appear only at night.

Have you ever noticed some even stranger acts? The ink fish in the sea can send out some very black ink when it faces danger. As the ink spreads over, its enemies will find themselves suddenly in a dark world. At the same time the ink fish immediately swims away. That is how it keeps itself safe though it is not strong at all.

It is reported that some developed countries have shipped broken parts of computers to China. Such a thing can be found almost every day although it is against international laws. Hong Kong officers once found 131, 000 kilograms of broken computers, TVs and phones sent from Japan.

Things like these are called electronic waste or e-waste. Dealing with e-waste is not an easy job because dangerous poisons like mercury(汞)and lead(铅)can be found in e-waste. Every time an old computer breaks down, it needs to be dealt with safely. But at present, broken computer parts are usually buried. It may be hundreds of years before they are really gone in the earth.

Many places in China are polluted by e-waste. Guiyu in Guangdong Province is one of them. This town is named as" the e-waste capital of the world”. It has to deal with 1. 5 million kilograms of e-waste each year, from which it makes 75 million yuan. But it comes at a cost. Many of the poisons in e-waste find their way into the environment. Plastic is burned outdoors and chemical water is poured into rivers. An environmental group has found the air, the earth and the rivers in Guiyu badly polluted.

The Chinese government wants to develop, but in a way that doesn't do harm to the environment and people's life. China passed a new environmental protection law in 2015, the strictest one we have ever ha   D. Computer companies like Lenovo and Dell will be asked to take back their old computers. This is because the companies that make computers know how to deal with them safely. Hopefully, the problem with e-waste will be solved in the near future.

Many environmental groups are warning that oceans of the world are in great danger. In the past 50 years, the number of water with zero oxygen(氧气) in the open ocean has increased more than four times. In the near coast water bodies, including the river mouth and seas, low-oxygen areas have increased more than 10 times since 1950.Scientists discover that oxygen continues dropping ever outside these zones as the Earth warms. To stop the drop, the world needs to control in both climate change and nutrient(养分) pollution.

Oxygen is a must to life in the oceans. The drop in ocean oxygen is among the most serious effects of human activities on the Earth's environment.

This is the first time for the scientists to take such a deep look at the causes, results and solutions to low oxygen worldwide, in both the open ocean and the near coast waters. About half of the oxygen on Earth comes from the ocean. However, mixed effects of nutrient loading and climate change are greatly increasing the number and size of "dead zones" in the open ocean and the near coast waters, where oxygen is too low to support most sea life.

In the areas traditionally called "dead zones", like those in Chesapeake Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, oxygen drops to levels so low that many animals have trouble in breathing and die. As fishes run away from these zones, their living areas become smaller and smaller. But the problem goes far beyond "dead zones". Even smaller oxygen drops can hold up the growth in animals and lead to disease or even death. Low oxygen also can cause the release of dangerous chemicals. Although a few animals can grow well in dead zones, overall biodiversity(多样性)falls.

When your pen is broken, the battery in your toy runs out, or you have some leftover food, what do you do with these things? You will probably throw them all into one trashbin. But actually, all of these pieces of trash need to be sorted (分类) separately.

Garbage sorting is a big problem worldwide. In recent years, some Chinese cities have been working hard on it.

Shanghai has worked with Alipay to create a "green account (账户)" service for its residents (居民). Account holders get points by correctly sorting their garbage. Through the Alipay app, they can exchange the points for milk, phone cards and other products. The city is asking all of its residents to sort their garbage into four groups: wet, recyclable (可回收的), harmful and dry.

Wet waste is also known as household waste. "They are things you don't want but that pigs can eat," Guangzhou Daily explained.

Paper, metal (金属), glass and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste.

Harmful waste includes things like medicine, batteries and fluorescent bulbs (荧光灯泡).

Finally, any waste that's not wet, recyclable or harmful will go in the "dry waste" bin.

Many other Chinese cities are also using this method to sort their garbage. For example, Shenzhen has been sorting its garbage into the same four groups since 2012. Students there also receive waste-sorting guidebooks that they must study.

China is improving its waste-sorting efforts. There is still a long way to go. But it's never too late to learn how to sort your trash properly and protect the environment.

If you don't sort your garbage, all of it will go to a landfill (垃圾填埋场) and be buried together. These landfills can take up large areas of ground that could have been used for planting trees. The electronic waste you throw away, such as batteries, can pollute the soil and water. Other pieces of garbage, like the metal part of a pen, can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.
