In China, parents often tell their kids not to waste food. However, it's reported that a lot of food is wasted in restaurants every day.
Many people say when they eat out, they usually order a lot of dishes and they can't eat them up. One person in Chengdu, Sichuan Province says he takes away the leftovers. "Usually we'll have some leftovers after meals, because when I invite friends to eat out, I don't know how much they can eat, so I order lots of dishes to make sure everybody has enough food."
While another person in Fuzhou, Fujian Province says she never packs what is left on the dining table. "What I usually experience during eating out is a big meal. I seldom take away the leftovers because we often have other activities after the meals, and it's not convenient to take the leftovers. And when no one suggests taking away leftovers, I won't do so."
Some people say they only take away leftovers when they eat out with family, but not if they eat with friends or colleagues (同事).

Winning Color

You are getting ready to play a football match and you want to win. What color should you wear to help you win? You are getting ready to go to an interview and you want to succeed. What color should you wear to help you succeed? Strange questions, perhaps, but color could be the key to your success. Read on and find out how.

The most popular color in Britain is black. Wearing black makes people feel more confident, but can often make you look unemotional. This may be why people sometimes think that British people don't want to make a strong impression (印象). Although black is common in Britain, most people agree that in fact blue is the world's favorite color. The students in school and the people who work in business often wear blue. Wearing blue will show that you are an effective and hard-working person.

Sometimes people mistakenly think that red makes you look strong and successful. However, you will be seen aggressive (好攻击的) if you choose red clothes. New information now says that yellow, not red, is the color of winning. Australia and Brazil are both very successful in the sporting world, and the sports things of both countries are yellow. Strangely enough, athletes who wear yellow glasses during a race can improve their time by up to half a second. Tests show that the yellow color makes them feel positive and energetic and could be the difference between a medal and no medal.

So, next time you have an important event in your life—a race, a match, an exam or an interview—think about you clothes. The color of your clothes can change your life!

I always told my children that they were smart all the time. Especially in the first years of their life, they learned skills and language so quickly. I had a particularly clear memory of watching my son work out how to play a Lego toy and I told him," You' re a such architectural(建筑的) genius. Mom is proud of you."

But some research suggests that we should not tell our children they' re" smart" when they do important things. When I first heard about it, I disagreed. But after doing some research, I gradually agreed. It all goes back to" growth mindset", which means that you can change your abilities through hard work and strategies(策略). Compared to a" growth mindset", a" fixed mindset" is the idea that your abilities are inborn and can't be changed. When we praise our children for being" smart" based on success, like solving a problem or doing well on a test. we' re encouraging them to believe that if they do poorly or make mistakes, they' re not smart.

And it's not just what we say about our children's success that matters — it's how we tolerate(容忍) their failures. A study led by a scientist named Kyle shows if parents think that failure is shameful, their children are more likely to be derailed by mistakes. For example, Dr. Kyle explains, your children may have difficulty in solving math problems and you may say something like" Not everyone needs to be good at numbers" as a way to comfort them. But what you' re really doing is suggesting that their math abilities are already set, and can't be changed.

Whatever you say to your kids, it's about getting them comfortable with failures. Here are some tips from Dr. Kyle. One way is to praise kids' hard work instead of their intelligence. As Dr. Kyle pointed out, if we praise a kid for a school project he finished in five minutes, he would know our praise is empty. Instead, we can ask him questions about how he did it, which can help us know how to praise future hard work. Also, we can talk about our mistakes. We don't have to hide our negative(消极的) feelings. If we point out our missteps and explain how we insisted, our children can learn to do the same.

Robots become a bigger part of daily lives, like in teaching, taking care of us, and even being our friends. Today, designers are considering how to get humans to trust robots. They pay special attention to voices, accents(口音), and dialects(方言) that robots use.

Imagine a"robot voice" in your head. Maybe it sounds like a robot from science fiction movies or TV shows. It could be robotic, unnatural, and sound like a boss. Nowadays, however, machines are starting to talk more and more like real people.

Here comes a question. Do people like robots that speak with a standard accent, or with accents and dialects from their own region? Some people think robots with standard accents sound smarter. But other researchers say robots with accents and dialects might feel more friendly and comforting. They might even seem more trustworthy(值得信任的).

To find out more, a group of researchers in Germany did a study. They wanted to know how people feel about robots based on the dialect they use. Katharina Kühne and her team asked 120 Germans to watch a video of a small robot called Nao. Nao spoke in either standard German or the Berlin dialect.

After watching the video, the researchers asked the participants(参与者) which robot they thought was more trustworthy. Most people liked the robot that spoke in standard German, but not everyone did. If the participants spoke the Berlin dialect well and often, they thought the robot that spoke it was more trustworthy.

Kühne's team knows there are many other factors that could influence how people feel about   robots, like how they look, if the voice sounds like a man or a woman, and the meanings behind different dialects. But their study still gives us a good idea of how language can change the ways we interact with and think about robots. The results of this study can help make robots that meet the needs of people from all kinds of backgrounds.
