What do you usually do to get pocket money from your parents? In western countries, many children do chores to get pocket money. They usually start to do this at 10 years old.
School students have to do homework and study for tests. They don't have a lot of free time in the week. They often do chores at the weekend.
Young kids only do easy chores. So they don't get much money. But that's all right. Many of them only want to buy candy. And candy is cheap! They help wash up after dinner and feed the family cat or dog.
When they get older, kids want to buy more and more things. They want things that are more expensive than candy. Then they have to work harder! They often wash the family car, cut the grass, walk the dog and cook dinner.
Some jobs are a good way for kids to learn new things. For example, they can learn to use a lawnmower(割草机) or how to cook. Of course, their parents help them at first.

(2)、When do they usually start to get pocket money?

(3)、Why do the school students usually do chores at the weekend?

“How are you?” is a nice question. It's a friendly way that people in the U.S.A greet(问候) each other. But “How are you?” is also a very unusual(不寻常的) question. It's a question that often doesn't need an answer. The person who asks“ How are you?” hopes to hear the answer “Fine”, even if the person's friend isn't fine. The reason is that “How are you?” isn't really a question and “Fine” isn't really an answer. They are simply (只)other ways of saying “Hello” or “Hi”.
Sometimes, people also don't say exactly(确切) what they mean. For example, when someone asks “Do you agree?”, the other person might think, “No, I disagree. I think you're wrong...”But it isn't very polite to disagree so strongly(强烈地), so the other person might say “I'm not sure.” It's a nicer way to say that you don't agree with someone.
People also don't say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking with other people. For example, many talks on the phone finish when one person say “I've to go now.” Often, the person who wants to hang up(挂)says: “Someone's at the door.” “Something is burning (烧)on the stove(炉).” The excuses(借口) might be real(真的), or not. Perhaps the person who wants to hang up simply doesn't want to talk any more, but it isn't polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn't hurt (伤)the other person.
Whether they are greeting each other, talking about an idea, of finishing a talk, people don't say exactly that they are thinking. It's an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it's part of the game of language.

对于电影The Lake , 观众们给出了各自的评论。请仔细阅读影评,从A-E选项中,选出符合各条评论的最佳摘要。

A. Meet the actors and a young star.

B. A nurse returns home.

C. There is one disappointment.

D. It's a nice surprise.

E. Aliens take over.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Yasmine Bleeth acts as Jackie Ivers, a Los Angeles nurse who moves back to her hometown, San Vicente, California. She soon notices that her friends and family are acting strangely. She realizes that everyone who goes into the town's lake comes out acting differently.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Jackie figures out what's going on. Aliens live on another planet. It's like Earth, but it's polluted, so the aliens can't live there much longer. They are planning to replace people on Earth, and they enter Earth through the lake. When someone goes into the lake, an alien takes over that person's body.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} The Lake is an entertaining science fiction movie. It's a movie that was made for TV, and it's surprisingly good for a TV movie. There is plenty of action to keep viewers on their seats.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Yasmine Bleeth's performance is OK as the nurse and main character of the story. The other actors are also all right. But the best performance of the movie is from Haley Joel Osment. He was only 10 years old at that time. He later became when started in the movie The Sixth Sense with Bruce Wills

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} My only idea is that some of the characters are slow to figure out what's going on. It's disappointing because it makes the characters not very believable. The viewer figures out th truth long before the characters do.
