There once was a forest filled with happy animals. One day a raccoon (浣熊) found some socks left behind by picnickers, and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(decide) to wear them. They fitted so well, and felt so {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(comfort), that he kept them on. He spent his days {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(walk) through the forest in his new socks.

    Other animals became envious(嫉妒) of the raccoon's new look and followed his trend. First it was squirrels in {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(shirt), then rabbits {#blank#}5{#/blank#}hats on, and finally birds wearing underpants!

    Doctor Bear, the forest physician, disapproved and tried to warn the clothes-wearers. But no one listened. Instead, they urged him to follow the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(late) trend too.

    Soon, the problems started. The squirrel caught his shirt on a branch and crashed to the ground. The rabbit tried entering his hole while wearing his hat and got stuck. Even the raccoon, thanks to his {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(bright) coloured socks, slipped into the river and almost died.

    When the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(injure) animals came to see Doctor Bear, he told them, “Your clothes are killing you. You don't need {#blank#}9{#/blank#}.”

    Those {#blank#}10{#/blank#} listened to the doctor's advice finally understood they didn't need clothes. They'd only started wearing clothes to make others envy them.

    Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter asked for a job in a timber merchant, and he got it. The pay was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(real) good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(he) best. His boss gave him an axe（斧头）and showed him the area（地区）,{#blank#}3{#/blank#}he was supposed to work. The first day, the woodcutter{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(bring) 18 trees. “Congratulations,” the boss said. “Go on that way”. Very{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(motivate) by the boss's words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}he could only bring 15 trees. The third day he tried even harder. But he could only bring 10 trees. Day after day he was bringing fewer and{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (few) trees. “I must be losing my {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(strong), ” the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(say) that he could not understand what was going on. “When was the{#blank#}10{#/blank#}time you sharpened your axe? ” the boss asked. “Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees. ”

    Beijing's Forbidden City is a place full of wonders. From its thousands of rooms to its many beautiful artifacts, it's no wonder it is one of China's most popular scenic {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(spot).But even more than 600 years after it {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (build), it's still managing to serve up surprises.

    Every Thanksgiving my family and I, along with others, prepare and serve Thanksgiving meals for the people in our small mountain community. My husband and I also bring meals to the disabled.

    This Thanksgiving we did {#blank#}1{#/blank#} same. After delivering them to some individual apartments, we went to the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (centre) dining room. We put the boxes filled with Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and some other foods on the tables. When talking about our bodies, we often forget our skin. Actually, our skin is very important, too. It keeps us{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(inform) of the outside world--{#blank#}2{#/blank#}it is hot or cold, wet or dry.

The skin goes back to its first position, which means that skin is elastic (有弹性的).

Skin has millions of tiny holes called pores(毛孔). Pores allow liquid, especially sweat,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(pass) through. By{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (sweat), our bodies keep up a normal temperature. When it is very hot, we sweat a lot, but{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(strange) enough, when it is quite cool, we also sweat. On a cool day, our bodies produce {#blank#}9{#/blank#}average of 700 ml of sweat. That is{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(much) than 0.5 kilos.
