Something frightening happened to me the other day. I was on my way home 1 school. I got off the bus and started to walk towards my 2 . Then I thought: “Funny! There's a car outside.”

    It was one of those big American cars. I looked inside 3 I wanted to see what it was like. At first I thought there was nobody in it. Then I saw an old man 4 on the floor of the car. He had blood（鲜血）all over his face and his eyes were closed. I was too frightened, so I went indoors to 5 the police.

    Mum wasn't at home and I was 6 . I dialed（拨打）999 and asked for the police. A policeman wrote down my name and address. But I don't think he believed my words. Then I 7 a car start. I looked out of the window and the American car wasn't there 8 more.

    The police never came and I still don't know what happened to the man. But it gave me a terrible fright（吓了一跳）. My dad said it was a good 9 and he enjoyed it very much! But I am sure that it was all 10 .

    Annie always loved the state of Hawaii. She read many books about Hawaii l and studied Hawaii at school. She asked her mom 1 they could ever go to Hawaii for their family holiday. Spider-Man is often thought of as one of the best superheroes of all time. But did you know that he almost wasn't created?

Stan Lee came up with the idea for Spider-Man in 1962. He was a different kind of superhero from what had come before. He was a teenager who had everyday problems. Back then, superheroes were strong grown men who saved people. Teenagers were helpers. The heroes didn't have to worry about real-life problems like paying bills (账单) and caring for an old relative. They flew in the sky and fought aliens. Stan Lee was about to change that.

When Stan told his boss about Spider-Man, his boss said it was "the worst idea" he'd ever heard, reported the Vintage News. For a time, it seemed like that was the end for Stan's friendly neighborhood hero. But then, Stan had an idea. One of Marvel Comics' books was getting canceled. According to Stan Lee. "Nobody cared what you put inside a book that was going to be killed." So, Stan Lee teamed up with artist Steve Diiko, who made Spider-Man's iconic (标志性的) look. Together, they put Spider-Man onto the 15th and last issue (期) of the comic book Amazing Fantasy. Spider-Man was a huge hit. The issue, showing the superhero on its cover, was a bestseller. And so, Spider-Man was given his own comic book, The Amazing Spider-Man. He has become one of the most beloved fictional (虚构的) characters of all time.

 Going out for a picnic

 Hello, I'm Beibei. I have a family of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} — my father, my mother and I. We often go out for a picnic with my family on {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( Sunday) because(因为) it is very interesting(有趣的). Do you want to know {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ( something) about one of our picnics? Let me tell you.

 We take some hamburgers, eggs, bananas, and oranges with {#blank#}4{#/blank#}( we). We also(也) take some drinks like apple juice, milk and coconut juice (椰汁 儿). My father {#blank#}5{#/blank#} ( like) eating oranges best. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} my mother doesn't like oranges at all. Hamburgers are my {#blank#}7{#/blank#} ( mother)_favorite food. 1 like apple juice and coconut Juice very much. So my mother buys these things {#blank#}8{#/blank#} us when we go on a picnic. My father and 1 go fishing. Then my father gets some water. My mother cooks delicious (美味的) fish for us. I also fly a kite with my cat, Mimi for half {#blank#}9{#/blank#}hour. We are very happy for a picnic.

What is kindness? It may be giving a helping hand to others when they are in trouble. Because of this help, someone who loses their way in darkness might see the light of hope. Perhaps the good actions you do are no big deal to you, but be of great help to others. 

I remember the year before last when I saw a big box near our house. I didn't know what it was. I took a look and found that it was a donation (捐赠) box. People could put clothes in it to donate to people living in poor areas. I saw many people donating their clothes. I was very moved (感动) by this and told my mother about it. The next day, I went to the box and put some of my own clothes inside. I was very excited. 

Some time later, someone sent me a letter saying "thank you" for my donation. I was once again deeply moved. 

We should give a hand when others need help. Do your best to do so. 

 When Pollyanna woke up, sunlight was through the window of her room. She 1 it was a perfectly wonderful sunny Saturday and she had so many things that she wanted to do.2 , she heard a rapping(敲打) on the door. "Wake up, Pollyanna! It' s Friday— you' ll be late for 3 !"

 Many children would feel 4 to find out it was a school day, but not Pollyanna! Her father had taught her how to 5 the Glad Game when she was little. The goal of the game was to look on the 6 side of everything. She had played it ever since, 7 it worked every time!" Oh, that' s good news!I' m8 school now!" she laughed as she jumped out of bed. "I' ll see my friends and learn all the new things!"

 Pollyanna ran through the kitchen, took her lunch box and gave Nancy a kiss as she did so. "No time for breakfast!" she said to herself. "But a healthy appetite(食欲) will make my lunch taste 9 !"

 Pollyanna rushed out and ran down the hill as fast as she could. As she went 10 Mr. Pendleton's house, the old man waved to her and said, "Good morning!" Pollyanna smiled and turned to wave back but tripped by stones. Before she knew what was 11 , she found herself in a ditch(沟)!

 The girl's dress was a bit dirty, but she was 12 smiling. The old man couldn't help but laugh. "Look what I found in the ditch!" she was holding up some wild flowers and said. "They will make a perfect gift for my 13 !"

 Pollyanna made it to the classroom just as the bell rang. Her dress and her hair were in a mess, but when she gave the flowers to the teacher,14 laughed and cheered. 

 That was the15 thing about the Glad Game, thought Pollyanna. When you play it, you spread happiness to others as well!
