Children don't go to school on Saturdays and Sundays, but they usually have homework to do over the weekend. Some do their homework on Friday afternoon.

  T{#blank#}1{#/blank#} They can enjoy the whole weekend. Others decide to r{#blank#}2{#/blank#} first and do their homework on Sunday afternoon.

   Saturday morning is a popular time for sports and other activities. A lot of schools have sports matches against other schools. Sports centres are usually very  b{#blank#}3{#/blank#}  too. They usually have classes for different things like tennis, basketball, swimming and so on.

  Saturday afternoon is normally the time for professional sports matches. There's always lots of sport on TV. Most rugby and football matches s{#blank#}4{#/blank#}  at three o'clock.

  In the evening, most people want some kind of entertainment(娱乐). Older teenagers go to the cinema or they go dancing at a club. At home, the television has many p{#blank#}5{#/blank#}for family entertainment, such as The X Factor Merlin or Doctor Who.

 On Sunday mornings, people often have alie-in (懒觉).  That means that they get up l {#blank#}6{#/blank#} than they do during the week. Some people go to church on Sunday mornings. Families often have a big Sunday lunch together. The meal is usually roast meat (beef, chicken, etc. ) with v{#blank#}7{#/blank#}  . And there's usually a big pudding, too.

 After that, a lot of adults spend the afternoon having a nap ( =sleeping) in front of the TV!

 Shopping centers are popular  p{#blank#}8{#/blank#}  to go on Sunday afternoons. All the big shops are open usually 11 a. m.  t0 5 p. m. ,b{#blank#}9{#/blank#} most smaller shops are closed all day.

  Then it's Sunday evening, and your parents say: Come on, it's school a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} tomorrow. So it's time to do your homework if you haven't done it yet, then pack yourschool bag and have an early night.

    It was a fine day in autumn. Some girls and boys were out {#blank#}1{#/blank#} their teacher. They {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to a museum. On their way to cross a bridge, they suddenly(突然地) heard a loud shout behind {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. The teacher told her pupils{#blank#}4{#/blank#} . Then she turned and listened. When she heard the cry“Mad dog!”she knew what was happening. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} she could do anything, she saw a dog running to them.“{#blank#}6{#/blank#}”said the teacher, “keep close to each other. Don't move or cry.” Then she stood before the children so that the dog would meet her first. The animal came quickly.

    At this moment the teacher saw a man. He ran up with a gun(枪) in his {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. “The children must be kept safe {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the man comes.” Thought the lady. The teacher ran to the dog, facing it bravely. The mad dog snapped(猛咬) at her and she fell down. The man came and killed the animal. The dog had bitten her so {#blank#}9{#/blank#} that the brave lady died soon after the doctors arrived. She lost her life for her {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. When people heard of this, they said, “The brave lady will always be remembered among us!”

    Let me {#blank#}1{#/blank#} you something about my little dog, Snoopy(史努比). Snoopy is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} American dog. He looks very cute. He has two small eyes（眼睛）, two big ears(耳朵), four short {#blank#}3{#/blank#} and a small tail（尾巴）. Now he can play many games. If I say “Go to sleep!” he goes to his bed {#blank#}4{#/blank#} lies（躺）down. If I say “{#blank#}5{#/blank#} basketball!” he goes to catch a ball and puts it into a basket. If I say “Please dance {#blank#}6{#/blank#} us!” then he dances to the music. “Can he {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a song(歌曲)?” a friend asks me. “Sure, he can, but he doesn't sing {#blank#}8{#/blank#} English or Chinese. When he sings, nobody can understand him.”

     Emily, an eight-year-old girl, is not very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} because she has so many rules to obey every day.  

     At school, she can't arrive {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. She has to get up early in the morning. She {#blank#}3{#/blank#} run or laugh in the hallways and she can't eat or listen to music in class. She agrees {#blank#}4{#/blank#} these rules because they're reasonable. But there are some rules she can't {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. For example, she has to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} her school uniform from Monday to Friday. She can't wear a cap or a hat in the classroom. She can't talk {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in the classroom. She has to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the blackboard and the classroom once a week.

     She also has to keep some rules at home. For example, she can't hang out {#blank#}9{#/blank#} watch TV after school. She has to finish her homework first. She can't meet friends on school nights. And she has to be in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} by nine o'clock. {#blank#}11{#/blank#} Weekends, she has to clean her room and {#blank#}12{#/blank#} her clothes. And she has to {#blank#}13{#/blank#} her mum do housework. Later she has to go to the Children's Palace to {#blank#}14{#/blank#}dancing. She never has any {#blank#}15{#/blank#}. What an unhappy girl!

    Kate and Bruce worked in the same company (公司) in New York. They were good {#blank#}1{#/blank#} often joked with each other.

    One day Kate {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Bruce on her way to the company. She said, "Hi, Bruce. It's good to see you.

    "How can you see {#blank#}3{#/blank#}when I'm not here?" asked Bruce.

    "What do you mean? You are not here?" asked Kate. "{#blank#}4{#/blank#}you are here."

    "No, I' m not," said Bruce. "And I'll bet (打赌) you ten dollars that I can prove (证明) I'm not here.

    “All right?”said Kate. "Ten dollars. Now prove you are not here.

    “It's {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.”said Bruce. “Am I in Hong Kong?”

    "No," said Kate.

    "Am I in Paris?"

    "No," said Kate.

    "If I'm not in Hong Kong and I'm not in Paris," said Bruce, "then I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}be somewhere else(其他的). Is that {#blank#}7{#/blank#}?"

    "Of course," said Kate.

    "And if I' m somewhere else, I can't be here， can I? Ten dollars, please."

    "You're so {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Bruce."

    "We had a bet."

    "Sure we had a bet," said Kate. "But {#blank#}9{#/blank#} can I give you ten dollars if you are not here?"

    Then Kate walked away {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a laugh.

    With more and more cars coming into our families, we are happy that it has greatly improved our life. But {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it has also brought many problems, such as heavy traffic and traffic accidents.

    Traffic safety is everybody's business. We must obey the traffic {#blank#}2{#/blank#} For example, we must walk on walk sides. When we cross zebra-crossing, stop and look {#blank#}3{#/blank#}and left, then go{#blank#}4{#/blank#}he road fast. Don't play football on the road. We can tell our parents not to drink before they drive, not to run through red lights, not to talk and laugh{#blank#}5{#/blank#}we are driving, etc.

    We can say cars are coming into our life, but only when everybody thinks traffic safety is everybody's business can we be safe driving on roads and walking on walk sides.
