Students at Shanming Middle School in Jiangsu often take part in activities{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (hold) by nearby communities. Does it sound fun? Well, students have mixed feelings. They enjoy the time outside school. But they don't find the activities  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (interest).

Why not design{#blank#}3{#/blank#}  (they) own activities? Some students got this idea and soon students joined the project.

     They first thought about activities ideas and listed them in an “activity menu”. They included: visiting science museums and companies; watching movies and basketball competitions.

    “The menu looked great, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  we soon found problems,” said Wang Ziming, one of the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}   (designer).

      First they needed a place to hold the activities. The students decided to talk to the local government to let them use the district stadium.

 “We first presented the benefits of these community activities to them,” said Wang. “ Then we promised we'd use the stadium {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  (careful ) and clean it afterwards”.

     The local government agreed that they could use the stadium and some sports equipment once{#blank#}7{#/blank#}  month.

     The students also designed a virtual (虚拟的) bank to encourage volunteering.

     Students{#blank#}8{#/blank#}   volunteered as librarians or cleaners would be rewarded with “gold coins”. A certain amount of coins gave you free entry to entertainment events such as{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (watch) a movie.

     Now, this special activity menu {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (become) popular in Wuxi communities. The students are happy with this.

    Oliver Twist is a famous novel {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(写) by Charles Dickens. It mainly talks about the boy named Oliver Twist. His parents  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(死), he has to grow up with many poor {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (陌生人). One day, when nobody pays {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(关注) to him, he runs away in a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (仓促) to London. After he gets to London, he is cheated by one bad guy called Fagin who is very {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (不礼貌的)and then he starts his life of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (偷). In Fagin's house, Oliver also meets some good partners who really care about him. When Oliver is taken to the police station, a good man  saves him and is quite {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (耐心的) with him. He teaches Oliver how to read books, how to learn {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (明智的) and how to be a gentleman. These abilities are very {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（有帮助的）to him. More importantly, Oliver's happy childhood has finally come to an end

    Not all people {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to work but everyone likes to play. All {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the world men and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, boys and girls like {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Sports help people to live longer. They help to keep people {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and feeling good. When they are {#blank#}6{#/blank#} games, people move a lot. This is good for their health.

    Many people enjoy sports {#blank#}7{#/blank#} watching others play.

What are your {#blank#}8{#/blank#} sports? Swimming? A soccer game {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a baseball game? Anyway, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} wonderful it is to play sports!

Are You Homesick（想家的）?

    Are you ready{#blank#}1{#/blank#}leaving home? You can't help yourself feel less homesick. Here are some helpful ways：

    Bring a little bit of home with you

    If you are going away from home,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(bring) your pillow or your favorite pajamas（睡衣）. You can also bring {#blank#}3{#/blank#}picture) of the people you'll miss and look at them when you want to.

Keep busy

    The more fun things you do, the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} time you'll have to feel homesick, so you can try to join in some{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（activity）. Even if you are not completely（完全地） into them at first, you might soon start to have a good time.

Stay in touch

    You can plan {#blank#}6{#/blank#} you'll call your mom or dad. If you have a two-day visit, maybe you need to stay out for a night. You'd better call {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(one) that night and again in the morning to make sure your parents know you're safe. With a camping trip, you might set a regular（规律的、定时的） day and time for a phone call home. You can also to stay in touch with your family and friends through the Internet. When you get in touch with someone, be{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(sure) to talk about the funny things you're doing.

Talk to someone when you need to

Sometimes, just telling someone that you're feeling a little homesick will help you feel better. Maybe you can tell a friend that you feel homesick and the two of you can do something fun—- like{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(tell) each other jokes. If you're at camp, a camp teacher would be a good person to talk {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. He or she might have some ways to help you feel better.

    The {#blank#}1{#/blank#} saw a most wonderful sight. Birds were flying about and singing, and flowers were {#blank#}2{#/blank#} through the green grass. The trees were waving their arms {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in the warm wind. Children were running about and sitting in the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} of the trees. It was a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} scene.
