Cartoon is the most popular TV program that attracts many children at the age 3 to 10. It's {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  that the word "cartoon" came from Italian. It first referred to the picture before a true drawing on the wall. In the mid-19th century, it came into English.  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  the 1840s , it has also come to mean any picture that is humorous, satirical(讽刺的) or showing an opinion. It usually comes out in a newspaper and magazine, with or  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  a short text. Today cartoons are a  {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  of the daily life of most people. Cartoons not only show their life,  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}    also help them relax.

    Nogoba was a cavegirl. She lived in a cave（洞穴）with about 40 other people. Cavepeople lived in big groups to help each other. Their l{#blank#}1{#/blank#} were very dangerous. There were many w{#blank#}2{#/blank#}animals near the caves — lions, tigers, bears and elephants.

The cavemen hunted. They k{#blank#}3{#/blank#}the animals for food. The children's jobs were dangerous, too. Nogoba and her friends went to the river every day to get w{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Sometimes, the river was very deep. S{#blank#}5{#/blank#},there were animals near the river.

For many months of the y{#blank#}6{#/blank#}, Nogoba was cold. There was ice and snow everywhere. It was difficult to be w{#blank#}7{#/blank#}. The children sometimes went to sleep by the fire. Sometimes they were too n{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the fire.

    Sometimes Nogoba and her friends went to f{#blank#}9{#/blank#}fruit and nuts to eat. Sometimes the fruit and nuts were poisonous and everyone became i{#blank#}10{#/blank#}. There weren't any cave doctors or cave hospitals!

    A little boy was very hungry．He was h{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to see ajar of nuts(一罐坚果)on the table because nuts were one of his favourite things to eat．

    "I'd like some of these nuts.I'm sure Mother would give them to m{#blank#}2{#/blank#}．But I can't ask her because she isn't here．I'll j{#blank#}3{#/blank#}take a big handful(一把)．I'm sure it's OK，"thought the little boy．

    The little boy P{#blank#}4{#/blank#}his hand into the jar and grabbed(抓)a big，big handful．

    H{#blank#}5{#/blank#}，when he tried to get his hand out,he couldn't．The neck of the jar was too small．His hand was stuck(卡住)．

    He tried again and again but couldn't get his hand out．

    Soon．he started to shout for h{#blank#}6{#/blank#}．

    His mother heard his shouts．She w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} into the room and asked."What's the m{#blank#}8{#/blank#} ?"Then she looked at the little boy's hand in the jar and asked，"w{#blank#}9{#/blank#} are you doing?''

    "I can't get my hand out of the jar,"said the little boy,

    "Well don't take so much．Take two or three nuts．Then,you can get your hand out e{#blank#}10{#/blank#}，"said his mother．

    The boy tried his mother's advice．Of course，it worked!

    “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy(财富) and wise (智慧).”

    This is an old English saying (谚语)．Did you hear of it? It means that we must go to bed early and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} up early in the morning．Then we will keep {#blank#}2{#/blank#}．We'll also be rich and clever.

    This is true．The body must have {#blank#}3{#/blank#} sleep to be healthy．Children of young age should have ten {#blank#}4{#/blank#} sleep every day．Children who don't have enough sleep can't do their work very well．They won't be clever and they may not become rich!

    The body also needs {#blank#}5{#/blank#}．Walking, running, jumping, swimming and playing games are all exercise．Exercise the body strong(强壮).

    Exercise also helps the blood(血) to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} around inside the body．This is very important．Our blood {#blank#}7{#/blank#} food to all parts(部分) of our body．The head also needs blood． Exercise helps us to think{#blank#}8{#/blank#}.

    "It may be cool to ride a bike on the road. The gentle wind can make you feel comfortable and happy but it is also i{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (importance) to wear a helmet (头盔) for safety, "Sanders,a swimming champion said o{#blank#}2{#/blank#} October 4, 2012. Sanders was there to start the activity c{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (call) "Helmets on Heads"by teaching students about helmet {#blank#}4{#/blank#}['seɪfti].

    Sanders has two kids. They ride b{#blank#}5{#/blank#} every day. It's what they love to do. Sanders has always told them they can't ride their bikes without helmets even if they are going next door. It's most effective (有效的) to get your kids to listen when you take {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (act) yourself and do w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} you want them to do, " she said. That's why she started the activity.

    To make more kids know the importance of helmet safety, Sanders is going around the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} [kʌntr]. She has several stops. New York is the first. The big thing is just through word of mouth, making biking safety a fun activity. It's said that about 80% of the school s {#blank#}9{#/blank#} don't wear their helmets. It's a big problem. So the Helmets on Heads activity is very n {#blank#}10{#/blank#} ['neslsərl].

    "I love bike riding. I feel like a king again when I do that. Whenever I ride with my kids, I enjoy that look in their eyes. It's something we can all do together," said Sanders.
