    Albert Einstein (1879～1955)

    Early Life

    Albert Einstein was born on 14th March, 1879 in Germany. He has been an extraordinary (非凡的)person since he was born. Einstein wasn't able to speak a word until three. He was curious(好奇的)and imaginative. He loved watching things carefully and asked a lot of questions about them. His questions were often hard to answer for teachers.

    Schooling

    Einstein started school in 1885. Though he did well in maths and science, he failed in many subjects like history, geography and languages. He was not the teachers' favourite. He didn't enjoy going to school. Einstein finished high school in Switzerland and entered a university in Zurich. He graduated(大学毕业)as a teacher of maths and physics in 1900.

    Scientific Work

    After graduation, Einstein worked at the Patent Office. He spent much time studying physics. By 1909, Einstein had become a top scientist. Though he became successful in the field of science, he still put great effort in scientific research. Finally, he won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921.

    Julie is ten years old. Her brother Rick is eleven. Last year their family went to Kenya (肯尼亚) for their summer holiday.

    They had a wonderful time. Kenya is famous for its safari holiday.

    On a safari holiday, you stay in a national park and watch the wild animals. Julie's family did this. They camped in the middle of a national park, far from any towns.

    There were guides with them, and the guides knew a lot about wild animals. During the day, their guides took them in a big car and they saw all kinds of animals. They saw lions, elephants monkeys and many other wild animals. Sometimes the animals came very close to them. Once an elephant started to walk towards them, and Julie and Rick felt very scared. The guide said, "It's all right. Don't move, please." He didn't seem afraid at all! After some minutes, the elephant walked away.

    At night, the family slept in a tent. They could hear the noises of the animals. They said it was noisy, and sometimes they couldn't sleep! Also, they said it was very, very hot. But they loved their holiday and are going again next year.

    Mr Jones was ninety, so it was difficult for him to remember things. But he still liked travelling very much, so he and his wife went to Spain for a holiday every year. (One summer when they were there, they went to visit some friends. One of them had two daughters.

    One afternoon Mr Jones was talking with one of the girls in the garden after lunch. "You and your sister were badly ill when my wife and I were here last year, weren't you?" He said to her.

    "Yes, we were," answered the girl. "We were badly ill." The old man said nothing for a moment, because he was thinking. Then at last he said, "Oh, yes, I remember now! One of you died. Which one of you was it, you or your sister?"

    The girl answered, "It was me."

    "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," said the old man.

    Mr Jones was too {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to remember things. He and his wife went to Spain to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a holiday. When they were in Spain, they {#blank#}3{#/blank#}some of their friends. One afternoon when Mr Jones was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}with one of his friend's daughters, he remembered that the girl and her sister were badly ill last year. But he couldn't remember who died. The girl played a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}on him and told him that she died last year.
