My local supermarket is always busy. The first parking space I found was convenient. but I'd noticed a woman in a blue car circling for a while. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}I was in a good mood, I let her have it. On the edge of the car park I backed into the next available spot——it was a tight fit. Pretty soon I'd made my way through the supermarket and was back in the flesh air. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(feel)good, I emptied my purse change into the hands of a homeless man and{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(help)a struggling woman reverse park.

Just as I approached my car, I saw the woman I'd let have my car spot earlier. She was giving me {#blank#}4{#/blank#}odd look——half intent(热切的), half puzzled. I smiled and wished her a pleasant day. As I squeezed back into my car, I saw the same lady{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(look)in at me. "Hello, "she said, hesitantly. "This {#blank#}6{#/blank#}sound crazy but I was on my way to drop some of my mother's things off at the charity bins. You are just so much {#blank#}7{#/blank#}her. You helped those people, I noticed, and you seemed so happy. "She looked at me{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(meaning)and passed a box in through the window. "I think she would like you to have it.     You may not have noticed it before, but many people often sit with a hunched (驼背的) back when they are in a difficult situation, such as trying hard {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (solve) a math problem. But there's a reason for this: this body position helps to reduce pressure.

However, according to Erik Peper, a health professor at San Francisco State University, poor posture (姿势) may make our brains work not as well as they {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (normal) do.

Peper and a team of researchers {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (study) 125 students' performance in a math test and their different postures. The team found that good posture—for example sitting up straight—could help people perform better {#blank#}4{#/blank#} bad posture when they feel stressed.

Another professor Richard Harvey further explained in Science Daily that sitting with bad posture might make us feel more {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (comfort), but it actually increases our pressure levels.

So the next time you have to take a test, try sitting upright and taking a deep {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (breathe). If Peper's study is correct, this small change may have {#blank#}7{#/blank#} great influence on you.

There are many things {#blank#}8{#/blank#} lead to poor posture. The good news {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) that posture can be improved at any age by {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (make) just a few simple corrections in the way one stands, sits and moves.

Who are better at science in your class, girls or boys? These years, girls start to show more interest in the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (subject) of science, technology, engineering and Maths (STEM), according to a recent study from the UK.

In the study, every year over the last seven years, over 20,000 students {#blank#}2{#/blank#} were in their final year in high school were surveyed. As for university courses, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} number of girls considering choosing STEM subjects has a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (big) increase than that of boys. Over one-fifth of the girls surveyed said they were considering jobs {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (relate) to STEM, such as engineers. And the interest in engineering and science has also risen.

This is an important change for women in the UK. But at present, there are not nearly as many women {#blank#}6{#/blank#} men studying STEM subjects or working in the STEM fields. Only 13%~22% of people who graduate {#blank#}7{#/blank#} university with STEM degrees are women. And women are seen only one in eight STEM jobs.

Are men really more suited to STEM work than women? Of course not. This is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (part) because of the conventional idea, which means many people think so, even though it is not correct.

"It is important that young women should {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (encourage) to get into these jobs. In fact, STEM subjects are fun and exciting. Studying science can do {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (we) good. It offers women chances of taking up fantastic careers and they will get higher pay in these areas," said Niki Yates, manager of GSK's business.
