Macao, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} lies to the south of Guangdong, is a small city with  Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Hong Kong as its neighbors. It has {#blank#}2{#/blank#} population of 550,000, 96% of which {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) Chinese. It is a clean and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (beauty) city with trees, flowers, and green grass everywhere. There are lots of cars {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (run) in the narrow streets. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} all people obey the traffic rules. Macao is also famous {#blank#}7{#/blank#} its gambling, and several million {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (visit) come to tour every year.

    Macao, which used to belong to China but {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (take) away by the Portuguese in 1887 from the Qing Dynasty, returned to our motherland {#blank#}10{#/blank#} December 20th, 1999.

    I was at the Indian grocery store with my cart totally full to check out. There was an African American man in his{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(sixty) behind me. I told him he could go before me{#blank#}2{#/blank#}he had just two items in his hand, and he was all smiles and added, as if{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(make) fun of me. “Thanks! Why don't you pay for my stuff too,” and laughed. I felt a little{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(embarrass)  and thought that the man had a wonderful sense of humor.

    I told the lady at the check out not{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(change) him. I said I would pay for him. He said, “No, no, no, I was just kidding.” And I{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(reply) with a smile, “Yes, yes your wish is heard. Please let me do it!”

    As we talked outside, he told me that the Indian herbs(草药){#blank#}7{#/blank#}he had bought{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(be) for his friend so I should take the money. I said to him, “It is good that it is not for you. Now you can pay it forward to somebody else.” He thanked me and promised he would.{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (eventual), I went home{#blank#}10{#/blank#}my car full of groceries and my heart full of warmth and kindness.

    There is a woman {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（name）Daisy who has devoted all her life to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（attend）to the homeless children. It's generally recognized that what she has done for children {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（deserve）to be respected by everyone. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（personal）speaking, her selfless behavior sets a good example to us.

    There was a time when I came across Daisy who {#blank#}5{#/blank#}（invite）to deliver a speech, during which she indicated, “{#blank#}6{#/blank#}（take）care of homeless children is just {#blank#}7{#/blank#} ordinary job, but it doesn't mean that you can look down {#blank#}8{#/blank#}it. Every job is equal. We can't say which one is {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（good ）.” She also said, “Once you set out to do something, you ought to carry on with it to the end, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you will gain nothing in the end.”

    Singles' Day falls on November 11th every year in China, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} is recognized as a day for people who have no girlfriend or boyfriend. Couples and lovers have Valentine's Day in celebration of their love, but how about the singles? There must be a day they can celebrate even {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a partner. That's {#blank#}3{#/blank#} people created Singles' Day.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Singles' Day many singles choose to say goodbye to their single lives, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(attend) blind date parties, and some people even decide to get {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (marry) with strangers. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} this day has recently become more of a time for shopping, because many shops online will give customers great discount to promote their goods.

    More and more people are willing to shop online to get{#blank#}8{#/blank#} they want, and I am one of them. I just can't help {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(buy) things whether I need them or not. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(honest) speaking, some of the things that I bought have been put aside forever in my closet.

    Life has become difficult for many villages, and some are disappearing. There are a number {#blank#}1{#/blank#} reasons for this. Firstly, young people from villages usually want to live somewhere livelier and they often move to the towns and do not return. Secondly, people move to the cities to find work, as there are often very few jobs in the countryside. Sometimes villages remain {#blank#}2{#/blank#} people from the cities have bought a "second home" in the village, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}they come and stay at weekends. The price of houses {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(go) up and people from the area cannot afford {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( buy) a house there. Another problem is that it is becoming more and more difficult for farmers to make money from the farms. So they sell their land and find another job.
