Dear Ronny,
Years ago you came to me for help. You said, "Grandpa, how could you do so {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in your life? You're still active to your life, but I'm already tired of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} for my life. How can I get the same thing that you've got?"
I didn't know what to say to you. But when I know there are few days left for me, I tell {#blank#}3{#/blank#} that I should give you an answer. So here is what I believe.
First, you should know that life is filled(充满) with{#blank#}4{#/blank#} , and many of them are good ones. If you don't keep your eyes {#blank#}5{#/blank#} , you'll miss a number of good surprises in your life.
When you meet challenges, don't run away, just welcome them. They'll make you stronger, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} and cleverer than you were before. When you do something wrong, you should be thankful for the things it gave you. And then, you should use this lesson to help you {#blank#}7{#/blank#} your dream come true. It's also important to decide what you want. Then keep your dream , work hard for it, and be ready to receive it. It will come true more quickly.
And always follow the rules, even the little ones. When you follow the rules, life will work well. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you think you can live without the rules, you're only fooling(愚弄) yourself.
There will be more chances {#blank#}9{#/blank#} you are growing up. So you have to be brave enough to move from a known place to an unknown place. Life isn't just like climbing one mountain. It is also a part of your life to move {#blank#}10{#/blank#} one top to the next. If you rest for a too long time, you may fail at last. Leave the past in the past. Climb the next mountain and enjoy the fight in your life.
The person that can win is the one who wants to win.
Love always,
  Grandpa

When Gregor Mendel was teaching high school students, he noticed that plants had different traits (特征). For example, some pea plants were tall, w{#blank#}1{#/blank#} others were short. Mendel wondered why, so he decided to experiment.

He c{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the seeds (种子) that were produced. He planted these new seeds and waited for the r{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. He wondered whether the new plants would be of medium h{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. But all the plants that grew from the seeds were tall.

Mendel wanted to see what would h{#blank#}5{#/blank#} to the next generation (一代). He crossed the tall plants with each other in the same way he had experimented with the tall and short plants. When the n{#blank#}6{#/blank#} plants grew, three fourths of the plants were tall, and one fourth were short.

Mendel found out that a plant r{#blank#}7{#/blank#} a message from each of its parents, and that message is carried by the plant's genes (基因). For example, a pea plant gets a gene for tallness or shortness from one or both of its parents. Mendel a{#blank#}8{#/blank#} found out that some genes were stronger than others. The gene for tallness was stronger than the gene for shortness. So a plant would be t{#blank#}9{#/blank#} if it had one gene for tallness and one gene for shortness. But if a plant had two genes for shortness, it would be short.

Mendel had made a great d{#blank#}10{#/blank#}, but few understood it at that time. Mendel became famous only after his death.
