What does an elephant never do?An elephant never eats meat.An elephant always eats ① and it eats a lot.It eats for about six hours a day,usually at night.When it's very hot,around midday,it gets together with other elephants and sleeps for a few hours.It usually sleeps on its feet.After sunset,it starts to walk to look for water.An elephant sometimes walks for fifty miles to find water and goes without water for three days.

An elephant shows feelings.②    It is happy to see a friend.It takes care of a sick elephant.When an elephant dies,all the other elephants are sad.

They bury(埋葬)the elephant in the ground with their tusks(獠牙).They usually don't leave that place for three days.When elephants travel,they always stop when they come to the place where a friend is under the ground.Elephants have great memories!

①Getting recognition（认可）from National Geographic, a famous US magazine, is the dream for many  photographers. A Chinese teenage photographer has made this dream come true.

②With his work Weed（野草）on the Wall, Gong Zijie, a 14-year-old boy from Changsha, Hunan, won the 2014 International Photography Competition for Kids in China. It was hosted by National Geographic Kids. Gong got the first place for the subject Wild Vacation. His photo shows the shadow of a weed on the Forbidden City's red walls. In photographer Li Shaobai's words, “The picture is silent but powerful.”

③Gong learned photography from his father, a professional photographer working for Hunan TV. Since the age of 4, he has been following his father to take pictures of nature and society.

④Gong is a patient photographer. When he finds something amazing, he can spend hours waiting for the perfect time to catch the moment. In his first work, Gong took the beautiful view of the sunset near his hometown. It looked simple, but Gong worked for four days to take the best photo.

⑤Now, the young photographer cares more about social （社会的）problems. In Gong's pictures of Liuyang River, hundreds of dead fish show us the deadly results of pollution. He has made up his mind to document polluted rivers at least once every year to make people pay more attention to environmental protection.

    Jane is a 16-year-old high school student in the USA. American Teenager magazine asked her {#blank#}1{#/blank#}her habits.     I was happy in those days before I started going to school. Because I had good neighbors to play with. I played with them from morning to evening. We played games outdoors, dressed up as cowboys and rode around on our tricycles(三轮车) happily.

    At the age of five, I had to go to kindergarten(幼儿园) and it was quite hard for me at first. I felt very sad about having to leave my mother each morning. I cried and wanted my mother around. As the days went by, however, I made friends easily in my class. I became happy again and looked forward to leaving my house each morning.

    I still remember those days when I was learning to ride a bicycle. I fell several times but I never gave up. Finally, I was able to join my friends riding around on my bike.

    Another memory I like is the end-of-year concert held at the kindergarten. I was chosen to play the role of Jack in the play, Jack and the Magic Beans. I became the superstar that night and received praise for my performance.

    What a wonderful childhood I had! At times I really wish I could go back to those days.

    December 21 was Becky's fourteenth birthday. When she got home after school, she saw her parents in the living room. They said to her, "Happy birthday, dear! We have a present for you, Becky. Go and look for it in your bedroom."

    Becky ran quickly to her room. On her bed she saw a bright red box. She thought that her present must be in the box. She opened it. There was nothing but a card in it. The girl took it out and read.

    "Dear Becky, I'm your present. My first three letters are the same as in the word 'come'. My last two letters are the same as in the word 'water'. My middle three letters are in the word 'put'. What am I?"

    Becky thought hard and soon smiled. She then went back to the living room and shouted. "Aha, I know what present it is. Thank you very much, Mum and Dad! But where is it?" Her mother answered, "Look at the back of the card." Becky turned it over and read, "Come and look for me in the study."

    Becky hurried to the study. There on the desk she found her present. What was it? Do you know?
