After almost 24 hour of traveling, I was in Beijing. I was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} with some of my classmates. We were all tired and dirty. Even at the airport, it was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} that we were in a foreign country which was very different {#blank#}3{#/blank#} our own. For us, the language sounded very{#blank#}4{#/blank#} . Although nervous, I felt excited.
It's amazing{#blank#}5{#/blank#} there are so many places of interest (名胜) in Beijing. We visited the Forbidden City, Tian'anmen Square and the Great Wall.
One day, Li Bo, a Chinese friend of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} , took us to visit a village. On the way, it rained {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . we were wet when we arrived, but we were happy to see the mountains in the{#blank#}8{#/blank#} . They were really beautiful. The China Study Tour made me {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a lot about the country, the people I met and even myself. It was the most valuable (宝贵的) part of my college life. I often encourage my friends to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a study tour. There's no other way to learn so much in only four weeks!

The food in the UK is very different from our Chinese food. They eat a lot of{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . And they like to eat them every day. They eat bread for breakfast{#blank#}2{#/blank#} butter ,cheese（乳酪）, jam（果酱）or{#blank#}3{#/blank#} things. We often eat these things very much in{#blank#}4{#/blank#} . Cheese and butter are made from milk. They drink {#blank#}5{#/blank#} milk, too. They don't drink hot milk but cold milk, and they put it in{#blank#}6{#/blank#} tea. The UK is the{#blank#}7{#/blank#} biggest tea drinker. They don't eat{#blank#}8{#/blank#} rice. For their dinner they like meat or fish with potatoes and vegetables. And they_{#blank#}9{#/blank#} eat something sweet after dinner. They call this dessert（甜点心）. They don't have {#blank#}10{#/blank#} .

    It was very cold. It was snowing fast and almost dark; the evening—the last evening of the old year was drawing in. In the cold and darkness there went along the street a poor little girl, w{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a cap and shoes. When she l{#blank#}2{#/blank#}her home she had shoes on . H{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, they were much too large for her f{#blank#}4{#/blank#} —shoes that her mother had used till then and the poor little girl l{#blank#}5{#/blank#}them when she was running across the street when two carriages(四轮马车) were p{#blank#}6{#/blank#}by terribly fast. When she looked for them one was not to be found, and a boy hid the o{#blank#}7{#/blank#}and ran away with it, saying he would use it as a house for his mouse.

    In the old c{#blank#}8{#/blank#}that she wore were boxes of matches, and she carried a box also in her hand. No one had brought so much as a box all the long day, and no one had g{#blank#}9{#/blank#}her even a penny.

    Poor little girl shaking with cold and hunger, she walked slowly, q{#blank#}10{#/blank#} and carefully along , a perfect picture of great unhappiness.

    We are going to have a party in our house this evening. It is my{#blank#}1{#/blank#}birthday, and she has{#blank#}2{#/blank#}my uncles and aunts and some of her{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Mother and I are{#blank#}4{#/blank#}to cook most of the food for the party, and Father is getting the drinks ready. The living room looks very pretty. Balloons of all colors are hanging from the lights{#blank#}5{#/blank#}we have taken the carpets away{#blank#}6{#/blank#}we are going to dance there after dinner.

    In the dining room we have{#blank#}7{#/blank#}out the best plates, glasses and tablecloths, and it looks{#blank#}8{#/blank#}. We are going to have soup, fish, chicken, fruits and cheese. We are going to dance{#blank#}9{#/blank#}midnight, and after that, we will have{#blank#}10{#/blank#}food, because we will be hungry after all that dancing.

    Last year my mother{#blank#}11{#/blank#}her birthday party in a restaurant,{#blank#}12{#/blank#}it is more pleasant and{#blank#}13{#/blank#}at home.

    When it is my birthday, I am going to invite my friends and have a party in the garden. I will hang colorful lights{#blank#}14{#/blank#}the trees, and we will grill (烧烤)our food in the garden and dance{#blank#}15{#/blank#}the grass.

    My name is Xiao Jun. I come from the countryside. Now I'm studying in a big city. People can eat all {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of foods and do lots of things. It's so convenient (便利的). Many people like living in the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. But I don't like it very much. In the city, the traffic is heavy and the cost of living is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. It's noisy, too.

    I miss the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} in the countryside. There {#blank#}5{#/blank#} many houses with big yards. The {#blank#}6{#/blank#} is fresh and the water is clean. We {#blank#}7{#/blank#} see green trees and colourful flowers here and there. More people like {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in the countryside now.
