Overhead bridges are found in many parts of Lanzhou, especially in places where traffic is heavy and crossing the road is very {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

The purpose of these overhead bridges is to enable passengers to cross road {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . Overhead bridges are used in very much the same way as zebra crossings. They are more efficient {#blank#}3{#/blank#}less convenient because people have to climb up a long flight of steps. This is inconvenient especially to old people. When passengers are {#blank#}4{#/blank#}a zebra crossing, traffic is held up. This is why the government has built many overhead bridges to help passengers and to keep traffic moving{#blank#}5{#/blank#}the same time.

The government of Lanzhou has  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}lots of money in building these bridges. For their own safety, passengers {#blank#}7{#/blank#}be encouraged to use them instead of risking their lives by running across the road. Old people, however, may find {#blank#}8{#/blank#}a little difficult climbing up and down the steps, but it is still {#blank#}9{#/blank#}safer than walking across the road with all the dangerous of moving traffic.

Overhead bridges serve a very useful purpose. Passengers, both old and young, should make a  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}to use them. This will prevent unnecessary accidents and loss of life.​

   I want to buy a pair of sports shoes for a long time. I had spend months saving up the money to buy them and I finally had e  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Last Saturday my friend Jake wanted to buy a new CD, so we decided to go shopping together.

   We took the bus into town and it was very c {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, so we had to stand all the way.Jake and I were talking when I suddenly n {#blank#}3{#/blank#}that my bag was open and my purse had gone! The bus had just stopped and there was a boy near me who was going  quickly towards the door. We thought he had stolen my money so we got off the bus and f {#blank#}4{#/blank#}   him. The boy started running and then Jake ran after him shouting “Stop! T {#blank#}5{#/blank#} !” It was like a scene out of a film! A policeman saw what was going on and managed to get the boy.

   The embarrassing thing was that when the policeman s  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the boy, he didn't have my purse! He probably thrown it away before he was caught. The boy said we had made a mistake and we shouldn't blame（指责）him for the stolen purse. He explained that he had o  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}   started running because he was late for a meeting with friends. The policeman a  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}   him to go and I felt really stupid. I don't know whether he stole my purse or not as there was no proof（证据）. I wish I hadn't been so careless and had kept an e {#blank#}9{#/blank#} on my bag!

   I've lost my front door key and 60 pounds. I'm really fed up. Jake offered to lend me the money to buy the sports shoes, but I don't think it's f {#blank#}10{#/blank#}    to take it. It isn't his fault（过失）that I had my purse stolen!

 We always get back what we give to others. Whenever you take action, ask yourself this question, “Am I honest?”

 Honesty or dishonesty can become a habit. Some dishonest people can lie w {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a red face. Others lie so m {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  that they do not even know what the truth is any more. But who is it bad for? In fact, those who lie will hurt t {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  by their own dishonest behavior.

    Ever since a 71-year-old Brazilian(巴西的) man, Joao Pereira de Souza, saved a dying penguin(企鹅), he's been receiving visits from his feathered friend every year.

    In 2011, Pereira de Souza found a hungry Magellanic penguin on the beach near his house. He named the penguin "Dindim" and fed it every day until it was strong enough to leave. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Pereira de Souza decided to take Dindim out into the water by boat and drop it off to encourage it to swim home. But when he was back to shore(海岸), he found the penguin waiting for him."{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Then just after it changed its coat with new feathers, it disappeared," Pereira de Souza told TV Globo, a Brazilian TV network.

    Magellanic penguins regularly swim thousands of kilometers a year to find places to have their babies on the coast of Argentina and Chile.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Many of Pereira de Souza's friends thought that when Dindim finally left, that was it for the human-bird friendship. But a few months later, Dindim returned and found Pereira de Souza. "It arrives in June and leaves to go home in February, and every year it becomes closer to me," Pereira de Souza said, "{#blank#}4{#/blank#}If others try, it pecks(啄) them or waddles away. "

    Sam and Mary are brother and{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. They have three meals a day: {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, lunch and supper. They have breakfast and supper at{#blank#}3{#/blank#}.
