Perhaps the most extraordinary building of the nineteenth century was the Crystal Palace, was built in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition of 1851. The Crystal Palace was different from all other buildings in the world, it was made of iron and glass. It was one of the buildings of all time and a lot of people from many countries came to see it. A great many were sent to the exhibition from parts of the world. There was also great deal of machinery on display. The most wonderful piece of machinery on show was Nasmyth's steam hammer. Though in those days, travelling was not as easy as it is today, steam boats thousands of visitors across the Channel from Europe. arriving in England, they were taken to the Crystal Palace by train. There were six million visitors in all, and the profits from the exhibition to build museums and colleges. Later, the Crystal Palace was moved to South London. It one of the most famous buildings in the world until it was burnt down in 1936.

    Old English differs much from the English we use today. Middle English is the name given to the English used from around the 12th {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the 15th centuries. On the other hand, the English language did borrow many words from French. Modern English appeared during the Renaissance in the 16th century.  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (pronounce) also went through huge changes during this period. Of course, this was not the end of the changes in the English language. The question of whether English will keep on changing in the future is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (easily) to answer. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is certain that this process will continue, and people will keep {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (invent) new words and new ways of saying things.
