Long long ago, there was a small village in the Middle East. In the village there was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} old man called Sthira. He lived by himself. His only son had gone far away to study. Sthira's friends {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(wonder) whether his son would return, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Sthira always said, "Whatever happens, happens for good.”

    One day the old man's son returned and the villagers were very happy for Sthira. He thanked the villagers and said {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (polite),"Whatever happens, happens for good.” However, later, Sthira's son broke his {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Once again the villagers came to visit him and once again the old man thanked {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they) and said, "Whatever happens, happens for good." Some of the villagers were surprised {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(hear) this. Why? What was good? His son's leg got badly hurt!

 After a few days, the army came to the village and forced all the young men to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the army. When they found his son had a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (break) leg, they left him behind. Once again, all the villagers came to congratulate him on his {#blank#}10{#/blank#} luck, like always, the old man was still thankful to them and said. “Whatever happens, happens for good.”

       My uncle has a very beautiful umbrella. He has had it for years. As he is very careful with it, it still looks as {#blank#}1{#/blank#} as new. I asked my uncle if he bought it or someone {#blank#}2{#/blank#} him as a gift. He shook his head. “Then how did you get it?” I asked. “Well, ” he answered, “there is a strange true story {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the umbrella. About ten years ago, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} along a quiet London street one evening when it suddenly rained. I had {#blank#}5{#/blank#} raincoat or umbrella. Gradually, it got quite dark. And the people in the streets were fewer and fewer. Because I was on my way to a party, I was afraid {#blank#}6{#/blank#} wet. So I stood in a doorway and waited for the rain to stop. No buses ran through the street and there were no taxis. What was worse, there even wasn't a person around, and still it rained and rained. At last a young man came to the place {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I was standing. He held a large umbrella over his head. As I hoped he would allow me to walk to the next comer with him, where I could get a taxi, I stepped out of the dark doorway where I had been standing. I asked him where he was going with that umbrella. As I suddenly appeared before him, the young man was so shocked that he{#blank#}8{#/blank#} the umbrella. He ran away and disappeared into the darkness. I picked up the umbrella and continued my walk. I knew it would be hard in this big city to find the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} of the umbrella, so I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it ever since then.”

    More than 95 percent of people in the world have phones today, according to the United Nations. People use phones to make phone calls and send {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (信息)to communicate with others. Now we hardly write letters. But a TV show, Letters Alive, is bringing back this old {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(习惯).

    Letters Alive gets its idea from a UK program with a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (相似的) name. They have something in common. The shows both {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (邀请) famous actors and actresses, but there are no funny jokes or different competitions.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (代替), it is just one person reading a letter. Since it has been on in{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (十二月) , Letters Alive has been widely praised.

    The letters were written by people from different times in history. For example, once they read a letter written by famous writer Xiao Hong to her brother who is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (年轻的) than her in 1941. The letter shows that Xiao Hong{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (想念) her brother so much and had great hopes for his future.

    “Every letter opens another world for us,” said Guan Zhengwen, the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (导演) of the TV show. “It seems that we can experience the real lives and feelings of the writers.”

    Of all my heroes, Mark Zuckerberg has touched my life the most {#blank#}1{#/blank#} .That's because he created my favorites {#blank#}2{#/blank#}networking website, Facebook. He was still a student when he created my favourite{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Facebook in 2004. It has made him one of the youngest billionaires ever. But he's unbelieveable to me because he has made a {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to donate most of his money to charity. In 2010, Time magazine him “ Person of the Year”.

    This summer, my family and my aunt's family went to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in Canada. We spent most of the time hiking(徒步).

    One day, we hiked to a popular hiking way in Canada. Everything is beautiful. My cousin and I saw lots of {#blank#}2{#/blank#}animals like squirrels(松鼠) and chipmunks(花栗鼠). Surprisingly we saw a chipmunk with dirty hands. His hands were {#blank#}3{#/blank#}of berry juice! My cousin and I named it Jairo. We {#blank#}4{#/blank#}that Jairo was a very clever chipmunk. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#}us the whole time. My cousin said, "Do you want to shake {#blank#}6{#/blank#}with him?" So I held out my hand. I could {#blank#}7{#/blank#}believe it when he touched my hand! It was the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}time in my life I had touched a wild animal. I did it! What an {#blank#}9{#/blank#}moment!

    At that moment, I believed that animals could be friends. People and animals should live together {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.
