①Gamaham: The most difficult thing about learning English is to remember new words. I study the words and remember them, but a week later I have forgotten most of them. When reading something in English, I always get into trouble when I come across a new word. There must be a better way to learn new words. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} 

②Viekers: I have been studying English for so long now, and I don't enjoy it any more. I used to like it, but now I feel as if I'm not making any progress. I wish there was something I could do to make me interested in studying English again.  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} 

③Selina: I wish I could improve my spoken English. Every time I join in a group discussion or try to speak English to someone, I find it difficult to express myself. I don't know what to say and I can't think of the words I need. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} 

④Gina: I don't like English at all. Why do we have to study English? I'd rather spend more time on maths and science, because I think those subjects are more important. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Memories about Teachers

    Recently we made a survey (调查)and asked a large number of people to tell us about their teachers. Here is what they remembered about their teachers:

    "What teachers do I remember? Well, I remember my first teacher. She was so kind and pretty, and she told us many interesting stories."

    "I remember an English teacher . he always had colored socks: red, green, even orange,"

    "I remember a math teacher. She was always dressed very well. I couldn't stop looking at her. I wanted to be like her."

    "Our chemistry teacher. He was so strict. We were afraid of him. I don't think he liked us."

    "The physics teacher was so boring. He could make us fall asleep very quickly."

    "One year we had a really good Chinese language teacher. He was very patient and told very funny stories. He was popular with all the class. We always worked hard for him. We are his friends,"

    "The P.E. teacher always said I was stupid. I thought teachers should give us encouragement. I am not interested in sports because of him."

    "I had one history teacher who always wore clothes of the same color. In three years I never saw him change."

    "I remember two teachers well. One was my music teacher who was very active, and usually had a loud voice. The other was my computer teacher, who was very serious, but here ally helped me when I had problems at any time."

    It was December. Marie, a 13-year-old Australian girl was happy. It was Christmas, and Marie's mother was making a special cake. She put four small coins into the cake, and then she baked (烤) it.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}After dinner Marie and her family ate the cake. They found three coins in the cake and put them on the table.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}It was missing, but Marie's mother didn't notice.

    After Christmas Marie got sick. She coughed, and she couldn't speak. " For 12 years Marie didn't speak. She grew up, she got a job, and she got married.

    But she never spoke. One day, when Marie was 25 years old, she got a sore throat at work.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}She coughed up something small and black. What was it? Marie didn't know. She took it to the hospital. A doctor at the hospital said, "This is a coin!" The doctor told Marie, "I think you can speak again.”{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    Aron Ralston is an American man. He is interested in mountain climbing. He is used to taking risks, and there were many times when Aron almost lost his life because of accidents. On April 26, 2003, when he climbed in Utah, he found himself a very dangerous situation. He struggled (抗争) and fought for five days. At last, he saved his own life but lost his right arm. Even after this experience, he kept on climbing mountains. He also wrote a famous book with a single arm.

    Aron's story tells us never to give up. Every person has a dream. It makes us do what we are doing, because it's what we believe in. And everyone has moments when life seems too hard, but never stop going like Aron. Our biggest enemies are hiding in us-laziness (懒惰) and doubt. We should be warriors (勇士) of our dreams and goals and we should keep on fighting for them.
