浙江省浣纱初中2016-2017学年九年级上学期英语期中测试卷

根据以下五位学生在英语学习中遇到的困难,从所给的选项A-E中,选出每个人所需要读的文章。

A. How to speak good English

B. How to put English grammar to use

C. How to master English words

D. How to realize the importance of English

E. How to get interested in English

①Gamaham: The most difficult thing about learning English is to remember new words. I study the words and remember them, but a week later I have forgotten most of them. When reading something in English, I always get into trouble when I come across a new word. There must be a better way to learn new words.

②Viekers: I have been studying English for so long now, and I don't enjoy it any more. I used to like it, but now I feel as if I'm not making any progress. I wish there was something I could do to make me interested in studying English again.

③Selina: I wish I could improve my spoken English. Every time I join in a group discussion or try to speak English to someone, I find it difficult to express myself. I don't know what to say and I can't think of the words I need.

④Gina: I don't like English at all. Why do we have to study English? I'd rather spend more time on maths and science, because I think those subjects are more important.

⑤Jim: I think it's easy to remember new grammar rules, but when writing something I always make a lot of mistakes. How can I learn to use the rules that I have learned?

    Plan your time

You should give yourself at least thirty minutes in all for reading every day. When time is set, nothing can change it. For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast or lunch time.

    Always carry a book

Wherever you go, take a book with you. When you leave the house, make sure that you always carry a good book as well as your school things. Remember that a book always stays with you.

    Find a quiet place

Find a place in your home where you can sit in a comfortable chair. When you read a book, no one will trouble you. There should be no televisions, computers, music or even noisy family members around you.

    Have a library day

Have a library card, and you can read as many good books as possible in the library. Make it a weekly trip to the library. You can save a lot of money.

    Blog it

One of the best ways to develop a good reading habit is to put it on your blog (博客) . If you don't have one, create one. It's free. Ask your friends and family to go there to share your ideas and give you some advice.

A good book can be satisfying, can improve your knowledge and can teach you a lot. There are several ways to develop a lifetime reading habit.

Set times. You should have a few set times every day when you'll read for at least 5—10 minutes, no matter what happens. For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast and lunch (and even dinner if you eat alone).

Always carry a book. No matter where you go, take a book with you. When you leave the house, make sure to have at least one book. You may keep the book in the car, or into the office or to anywhere you go, unless you' re sure you won't have time to read.

Make a list. Keep a list of all the great books you want to read. You can keep this in a pocket notebook. Be sure to add to it whenever you hear about a good book. Keep a running list, and cross out the ones you have read.

Find a quiet place. Find a place in your home where you can sit in a comfortable chair without television or computer near the chair. There should be no music or noisy family members.

Set a high aim. For example. Tell yourself that you want to read 50 books this year. Your best to finish reading them. Just be sure you're still enjoying the reading.

The digital(数字的)A report in a newspaper says that school accidents, such as food poisoning(食物中毒) fires, electricity and traffic, kill more primary and middle school students than anything else. So we must learn how to protect ourselves better. Here are some tips for keeping safety in mind every day.

On our way home or to school Wait for the green traffic light, and look left and right before we cross the road, we'd better war bright-color clothes, so the divers can see us easily. Don't believe in strange people in the street.

At school: When students around us begin to push other, we need to stand sill and try to hold onto something, or stay in a comer until the crowd(人群) leaves. If we fall down in crowd use both hands to cover the head. Lean(斜靠)to one side, curl up(蜷缩)our body and bend(弯曲)the legs.

In a fire: Stay calm. Leave the classroom quickly under the directions or the teachers. Smoke can be more dangerous than fire, so use a piece of cloth to cover our mouth and nose. What will we do if the clothes burn? Remember not to run! Drop and fall to the ground. Then roll! It will make the fire go out.

For eating: Wash fruits carefully before eating them. Check the expiration dates (保质期)on the packages of the snacks, and if it looks or smells bad, don't eat it.
