Almost everybody likes to play. All over the world men and women, boys and girls enjoy sports.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} They help people to live happily.

   {#blank#}2{#/blank#} People play different games in winters and summers. Sailing is fun in warm weather, but skating is good in winter.

   {#blank#}3{#/blank#} The Arabs are famous for their horses and camels. They use them in their work, and they use them in their sports events, too.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} －but millions of people hunt and fish for a living.

   {#blank#}5{#/blank#} but after a game on the sports field, they often become good friends. Sports help to train a person's character. One learns to fight fair and hard, to win without pride and to lose with grace(体面).

    Mo Ya, Nobel Prize winner in literature (文学)in 2012, believes his success comes from a large amount of reading.

    Mo was born into a farming family in a village in Shandong Province. Mo left school at the age of 12 and started to work in the fields. Mo was tired after his daily hard work, but he was always hungry for books. However, there were very few books in the village, he never gave up. He read his elder brother's textbooks and even dictionaries.  He helped others with farm work in exchange for books.

    After Mo left his hometown and joined the army in 1976, he began to read widely, including works by Lu Xun and many other famous writers. He studied from these writers but did not copy them.  Instead, he developed his own style.

    At 7.40 when Mrs Fang is at breakfast, there comes a call. Twenty minutes later, she is with Ann, because Ann cannot stop her baby from crying. There, Mrs Fang helps wash Ann's three-day-old baby and she soon calms down. It is Ann's first child and she is learning what to do. After that, Mrs Fang goes on to see Mr Johnson, a rich old man who lives alone. His arm was broken and cannot wash or put on his clothes himself. He must be looked after every day.

    Then Mrs Fang gets her second call that day. She goes to the home for the old. There she works with the old people till 2.00 p. m. One by one, she answers their questions and helps them take their medicines, while the doctor takes care of other more serious problems.

    Mrs Fang keeps hurrying around all day and sometimes she can be rung up even late at night when the sick must be helped. She is busy, but she likes her job and enjoys helping others.

    It's rare to see a team earn 11 straight wins (连胜) in a tournament (锦标赛). However, the Chinese Women's volleyball team has done it!

    On Sept 29, China took the Women's Volleyball World Cup Trophy(奖杯) in Japan. The team didn't lose any of its games during the tournament. It was also the team's 10^th world title (冠军).

    "The trophy is the best gift to celebrate the 70^th birthday of New China," People's Daily said in an article.

    The Chinese Women's volleyball team has long been the pride of Chinese athletics. In the 1980s, the team won five world titles in a row (连续), which raised people's confidence at the time. Since then its fighting spirit has encouraged generations (一代代) of people, both within the team and across the country.

    Working hard was the key to the team's success. The World Cup was played in several different cities and the team didn't have much time to train. The girls had to squeeze in (挤出) training time when they could. On Sept 25, for example, they arrived in Osaka at 2:30 pm and started training only an hour later.

    Never giving up, especially during difficult times, is also the key to getting success, according to head coach Lang Ping. Many of the team's members kept on playing even after being hurt.

    With their latest win, the girls are ready to prepare for next year's Tokyo Olympics.
