On the first day of school, a new classmate touched my shoulder, "Hi, handsome! I'm Rose. I'm 87 years old. Can I give you a hug(拥抱)?" I turned around and found a little 1 lady with a warm smile. I said heartily, "Of course!"

    "2 are you in college at such an age?" I asked.

    She joked, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get 3, have children, and then travel around."

    "No, seriously." I asked.

    "I always4 of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me. In no time, we became friends.

    Over the year, Rose became an icon(偶像)and she easily made friends. She loved to dress up and she enjoyed the 5 from the other students. At the end of the term, we invited Rose to our party. I'll never forget what she said.

"We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. Here are the 6 of staying young. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you 7 your dreams, you die! There's a huge difference 8 growing old and growing up. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability," she added. "But 9 requires finding the chance in change. Have no regrets."

    One week after graduation that year, Rose died peacefully in her sleep. She taught us by example that it's never too 10 to be all you can possibly be.

Can you imagine going to university at age 14? This year, Jia Zijun, from Henan, did that. He became the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (young) freshman at Beihang University. 

"I didn't know that until I got here, and it feels q{#blank#}2{#/blank#} cool! "Jia told The Paper. Jia took the college entrance exam in June and got a total score of 642. People often think students like him must be smart. But Jia believes his s{#blank#}3{#/blank#} is from curiosity and good study methods. 

"When I was in Grade 1, I was curious about what we were going to learn next. So I borrowed Grade 2 textbooks and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(learn) the lessons during my summer holiday. I was hungry {#blank#}5{#/blank#} new information," he said. Because of this, Jia skipped Grade 2. 

As he went to high school, he found things were getting harder to learn. So he started to make p{#blank#}6{#/blank#} every day to get prepared ahead. Jia would also review what he learned each day before going to bed. If there was s{#blank#}7{#/blank#} he couldn't remember well, he'd take a look at it the next morning

"I was not good at English in high school, so I printed the vocabulary list and stuck it onto my bed Every morning when I w{#blank#}8{#/blank#} up, I looked through the list, and it's a good way. 

When Jia felt stressed, he had a special way to r{#blank#}9{#/blank#} working on math problems. "I'd find difficult problems to challenge myself, and when I worked it out, I felt really happy. "As he told The Paper, he hopes he can keep his curiosity and study habits in university, which makes a big {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(different) to his life

Our community library decided to offer a painting class. I told my friend Ella, and we both signed up.

On the big day, our first 1 was to paint a white vase of cheerful yellow sunflowers against a blue background.

We were asked to paint our canvas (画布) 2 . It was easy to follow the instructor to move the brush. Although I had never painted before, I could tell I was a 3 . I started thinking about where I would hang my new masterpiece.

Immediately after that, however, I began to run into 4 . The first curved (弯曲的) line of my vase looked perfect, but when I painted the line on the opposite side, my hand slipped (打滑). I tried to 5 that white streak (条痕) with blue paint, but it didn't work.

While I was busy fixing my messy painting, the instructor explained how to paint the sunflower leaves. Things went downhill fast after that. My leaves looked like fat, green caterpillars (毛毛虫). When I failed to clean my paintbrush, I accidentally made the sunflowers green. I felt 6 when I saw how good everyone else's paintings looked.

Ella sweetly praised my sunflowers, perhaps feeling sorry for me. When I said that hers were much better, she looked surprised. "No, they're not. I messed up in at least five places." After a few seconds, she asked, "Want to 7 paintings?"

Until that moment, I had felt only dislike for my painting. And yet for some reason, giving it away felt wrong. It wasn't a perfect painting, but it was mine—the first one I had ever created. I knew Ella must have realized that she felt the same way when she suddenly shook her head and said. "Never mind."

My sunflower painting still hangs directly above my bed. I often look at it. Every time I look at it. I 8 . It always brightens my day and brings warmth to my room. I really like it now.

At the age of 1 year and 152 days, Ace-Liam Ankrah from Ghana became the youngest male artist in the world. 

Ace-Liam became interested in painting when he was just 6 months old. Ace-Liam's mother, Eghan, is an artist. A few years ago, she{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Arts and Cocktails Studio to offer painting classes. 

Eghan said she couldn't take care {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Ace-Liam while she was painting. So to {#blank#}3{#/blank#}him busy, she thought up a way. "I put a canvas(油画布) on the floor and put paints on it. As he crawled(爬), he made all the colours cover the canvas, " she said. 

That's {#blank#}4{#/blank#}his first painting, The Crawl, was born. Eghan was {#blank#}5{#/blank#}by Ace-Liam's talent(天赋). After that, Ace-Liam continued to draw. Last year, Eghan decided to apply for(申请) the world record(纪录) for her son．However, someone told her that {#blank#}6{#/blank#}Ace-Liam wanted to break the record, he needed to exhibit and sell his paintings. So she held an exhibition for Ace-Liam in January. And she sold nine out of his ten {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. 

On May 20, Ace-Liam entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's youngest male artist. 

Ace-Liam still loves painting. There is a corner in his mother's studio just for him. He often paints on {#blank#}8{#/blank#}own there. 

"He often spends the {#blank#}9{#/blank#}day painting in the corner. He's not just playing there. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}he's growing up there, " said Eghan. 

Last summer, I went hiking along the riverside with my mother and some friends. The river was not deep, but it was running fast. The rocks in the river were slippery(滑的). We walked carefully, but the freezing water still wet our shoes and trousers. I was getting very cold and tired. I wanted to give up, but when I saw other kids moving so fast, I felt sorry. This pushed me to keep following them, even though I was far behind. It was even more difficult during the last part of the walk. I became so tired out that I missed my steps and fell several times. But with the help of my mother and my friends, I got to my feet and kept going each time I fell.

At last, we arrived at our place by a lake. Everybody jumped into the pool. When it was my turn, I was very afraid and tried to hide around a corner. My friends noticed this and said to me, "Come on, Kevin! You can do this!" With my eyes closed, I jumped into the pool.

Although I am not as strong as my friends, I completed our walk. This experience made me realise what perseverance is, and how important it will be to everyone in life! If I exercise hard every day, I can become strong like my friends.
