A. they should spend sometime |
In my spoken English class, I asked the students about their university life. To my surprise, . After their highly controlled(控制) high school lives, they were having difficulty getting used to (习惯) the free time in the university. When I asked them to describe their high school lives, they got up at six in the morning and studied until ten or even later at night. Most of this time was spent doing lots of homework.
When they entered the university, in my opinion, to spend all their waking hours studying. They should also take an active part in social activities. They should learn to divide their time outside of class between sport sand clubs. What's more, watching TV and chatting with their roommates. But what surprised me most was that many of them did not seem happy because . They felt that they should be doing something else what ever they were doing. That's why they were not happy.
To those students, my advice is: Get used to it and learn to make decisions for yourselves.
Have you ever had the feeling that no one can understand you? Well, here comes “Pepper”, it could be about to change all that. Pepper is the first robot to read human feelings. Using its emotion recognition functions(情感识别功能), Pepper can make jokes, dance and even sing to people when they are around it.
The robot looks like a lovely girl. It is four feet tall with a tablet computer in its chest. It has human-like hands, a girl-like body and baby-like voice. It was shown to attract people at stores on Friday.
Pepper can tell facial expressions, human voice and signs, then make an answer. Pepper is designed to be a family robot, but it isn't like the household robot on the cartoon. Pepper is used at home or store, where we enjoy pleasure and entertainment.
At home, not only can it tell jokes, it also helps people in trouble. If a natural accident happens, it can encourage them, make them laugh and feel relaxed.
Pepper will be on sale at the price of $2,000 in August, 2015. At present, several Peppers are on show at stores for people to visit. Before selling Peppers, the creators want them to store more knowledge in order to get better along with human beings.

Today taxis are very common in cities all around the world. While London is world- famous for its special back taxis, New York's yellow taxis are also well- known all over the world. How about the taxis in Mumbai, India? Before a project (项目)named Taxi Fabric, taxis got little public attention. But now things are different because some of them have changed their common looks. Artist Sanket Avlani started the project last year with some other artists. He said," Taxi drivers here try hard to decorate(装饰)their taxis and make them stand out from others, but they usually pay little attention to the insides of their taxis. "He hopes to use his art project to connect young designers(设计师)with taxi drivers." The designs that cover the taxi seats are often boring and forgettable ,but they can be improved with the help of designers in Mumbai.
Last summer the project raised over £l1, 000, and they invited local designers to create different designs inside the taxis. All the designs are about Mumbai. The designers are local but they got their ideas from all around the world. So far they've created 26 different designs, which make the insides of Mumbai's taxis as colorful as the views from their windows. Taxi Fabric is now hoping to spread to other cities in India. They are also inviting designers from all over India to take part in the project and planning to redesign buses, trains and subways besides taxis.

We did a survey (调查) about students' free time activities yesterday. One of our questions was about exercise and of course, it is the most important one. From the survey, we knew only 25% of the girls often have activities outside. Many girls do little exercise. They don't like P.E. classes and even don't play sports. These girls may face a lot of problems. They may get fatter and weaker, And they may get some kinds of illnesses(疾病) easily. Wang Jing, a 16-year-old girl, said, "I don't like doing exercise. I like watching TV on the sofa. I spend at least three hours watching TV a day. My sleeping time is no more than seven hours a day. I often feel tired
Some girls said, "We don't have enough time to do exercise. We must help our parents with housework because they are very tired after a day's work. We do some washing, clean the house and finish the homework. We don't have time for doing anything else."
Everyone may have these excuses(借口) for not doing exercise. However, we must know that if we don't do exercise, we will get sick easily. As students, we'd better exercise every day. That makes us live a healthy life.
