Forever Green Houses

These houses are both “green” and “smart”. There is glass outside the houses. Heat is held under the glass and is then used as energy for (C) each house. In the bathroom, your medicine cupboard is connected to your doctor's computer. In the kitchen, your smart fridge tells the supermarket's computer when you (D) need more food.

    Children know that summer is probably the most fun of all seasons. However, experts say it is also the most dangerous, especially, for children aged 14 and under. In its first study of children's safety in the US, the National Safe Kids Campaign(NSKC) founds that nearly half of the injury-related(与受伤相关的) deaths among children happened in summer.

    Experts are not surprised by the study's results. They always know summer is a dangerous season for children. During the summer, children are out of the school and spend more time outdoors. They are more likely to get into an accident or be injured. “While we encourage children to be active and spend more time outdoors, they need to understand the importance of safety,” said Everett Koop, an expert of the NSKC.

    To help children say safe, the NSKC started a “Make it a Safe Kids Summer” campaign during National Safe Kids Week, from May 5 through May 12. Here are some important summer safety tips from the NSKC:

    Always wear your seat belt.

    Make sure there is an adult around when you decide to go swimming.

    Wear a life jacket when on a boat or doing water sports.

    Obey all traffic rules.

    Hangzhou won its bid(申办) for the 2022 Aian Games on September 16^th, 2015. It will be the third time that the Games are held in a Chinese city after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.

    The well-known capital city of Zhejing Province in the southeast part of the country has a population of 8.9 million. It is a beautiful city with a long history and it has been developing rapidly in recent years. Hosting the Asian Games will give the city another chance to grow.

    "We have seen here the strong wish and the great effort of Hangzhou to host the19th Asian Games," The OCA(亚奥理事会) president praised.

    The Games are set to include 36 to 40 sports. Thirty venues (场馆) have already been completed, while several others are still being built and will be put into use on year before the Games. The Asian Games will be held from September 10 to 25, when the temperature is around 20⁰C.

    "There is no doubt that the event will attract more visitors to experience the beauty and charm of this amazing city. At the same time, more roads will be built and the underground will be added, reducing heavy traffic. But the best part is that it will give us the chance to watch world-class competitions close to our homes." Shao Lin, a local people, told the reporter excitedly.

    With the Asian Games in Hangzhou in September and the World Cup in Qatar(卡塔尔) in November, 2022 will be an exciting year for Asians, especially Chinese sports fans.

    Hangzhou is trying its best to get ready for the big sports show. Hangzhou is waiting to see you in 2022.

Dear Tom,

    Most of the time, I just stay at home for my vacation. That's too boring. But I had a special and exciting vacation last summer. My classmates and I made a trip to Mount Tai by bus.

    When we arrived there, it was dark(天黑). At 7 pm, we began to climb the mountain. It took us the whole night to get to the top of the mountain. On the morning of the next day, we enjoyed the beauty of the sunrise on the top. That's wonderful. In the daytime, we visited a temple (寺庙). In the evening, we had a big dinner in a local restaurant together. The food there was delicious but a little expensive.

    I hope you can come to China next year. Then we can visit more interesting places together.
