The Spring Festival

    The Spring Festival，Chinese New Year，is the most important festival for all of us. All family members get together on New Year's Eve to have a big meal. ①At the same time，everyone celebrates to each other. At about 12 o'clock，some parents and children light crackers. The whole sky is lighted brightly. We may watch the fireworks excitedly. How busy it is！

    On the first early morning of one year，many senior citizen get up early and they stick the reversed(倒着的) Fu or hang some couplets on the front door. Some house's windows are sticked on red paper cuttings.

    The Chinese New Year lasts fifteen days. ②所以在那十五天的时间里，我们总是挨家挨户的去探访我们的亲戚朋友。 At that time children are the happiest because they can get many red packets from their parents，grandparents，uncles， aunts and so on. The last day of the Chinese New Year is another festival. It names the Lantern Festival.

    So the Chinese New Year comes to the end.

    A month ago the Brown family, who lived in Lyndhurst, had a special experience. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} She was making coffee while her husband, Frank, was watching a comedy program on television. Upstairs(在楼上) their young daughter, Ruth, was asleep in her room and their son, Mark, was doing some homework on his computer. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} However, at the end of the afternoon, it started to change. Soon, it began to rain very heavily. Tina looked out of the kitchen window and saw big storm clouds in the sky. A: From your home, you can take the No. 3 bus. Get off the bus at the post office. The bus stop is just in front of the post office. Turn right into Xinhua Street. Then you can see a cinema on your left and a bank on the right. Walk on and turn left at the third street. There is a tall building opposite Tianyuan Hotel. It's a library. My house is next to the library. It's easy to find it.

    Among them, the students like Charlotte's Web best. It's written by American author E.B. White .The novel tells a story of a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a spider named Charlotte on a farm. When Wilbur is in danger of being killed for his meat by the farmer, Charlotte writes a message to praise（表扬） Wilbur in her web and saves him. Wilbur becomes famous in the village and he is safe in the end. When it came out in 1952, the book was welcomed by adults and children. And it's still very popular today.

    When you hear the name Hollywood, you probably think of excitement, lights, cameras and movie stars. Famous actors are not the only important people in the entertainment business. Directors and producers are important, too. Today, Hollywood is full of producers and directors. And it is one of the tourist destinations in America.

    In 1911 the small, peaceful village of Hollywood in California voted to become part of Los Angeles. Today, over 100 years later, this village has grown into the home of one of the best-known industries in the world- the American film industry.

    With this growth, came many well-known symbols. There is the famous Hollywood sign which stands above the hills of the town. The first sign was built in 1923. Then there is Hollywood Hall of Fame, where great actresses, actors and directors leave their footprints or handprints. Norma Tallmadge was the first actress to do this in 1927. But most famous of all are the Oscar Academy Awards(奥斯卡颁奖). In March of every year a number of actresses, actors and directors wait nervously to find out if they have won an "Oscar". The 85th Oscar Academy Awards was held on February 25, 2013, in Los Angeles. Ang Lee(李安),a Chinese director won the best director again. It was his second time to win an "Oscar".

    Nowadays it becomes more and more common for films to be made away from Hollywood itself, but it remains the home of films, and thousands of hopeful young actresses, actors, writers and directors still come to "the Dream Factory" every year. But not all Hollywood dreams have been happy ones- as one actress, who later died tragically(悲惨地), said," Hollywood is a place where they will pay you 500 dollars for a kiss, and 50 cents for your soul.
