My brother's name is William and my sister's name is Olivia. My grandparents Jerry and Elizabeth have two sons. My uncle Mike and my aunt Sarah have a son, his name is Joseph. He is my cousin. He is four years old. We all love him very much.

    Some students, parents and teachers in Shanghai were surveyed last month. According to the result of the survey, the generation gap (代沟) between students and parents as well as teachers is becoming wider. Here is what they said.

    "Our parents hold too high expectations（期待）which put us under lots of pressure（压力）. They care too much about our lives and studies," one student said.

    "It's impolite that some students' parents read their children's diaries without permission!" one student said angrily.

    "Some of our teachers are so serious that we can't make friends with them at all," another student said sadly.

    One mother said, "After school, my daughter usually locks herself into her room and spends lots of time talking with others on the phone. And I can't stand her clothes and hairstyle!"

    "I thought my son was doing very well in his studies. I didn't realize I was being cheated (欺骗) by him until I got a call from his teacher," said a father.

    An English teacher said, "Today, the role of the teacher is to put knowledge into students' brain. The power teachers have kept students away from them."

    "Some parents pay too much attention to their children's grades. They never create a lively and colorful environment at home," another teacher said.

    "In the past, teachers and students often played games together or talked with each other. Today, only studies and grades are talked about," said a teacher.

    Scientists say that a school should be a place where students can learn not only knowledge, but also how to face failure bravely enough.

    Exam time is coming . Don't worry, here are some secrets of doing well. They can help you take tests with confidence (信心).        ①       .

    Mom and Dad are two of the most important persons in your life. Over your lifetime, they may influence you more than anyone else you will meet. So if your mom loves to read, you just might grow up carrying a book wherever you go, just as she does. But parents do a lot more than just pass on their hobbies. Moms and Dads need to care for their kids the minute their kids are born. Most parents will do this as long as they live.

    Here are some ways you can stay close, get along well, and build a strong relationship with your parents.

    Spend time together. Instead of playing computer games or watching TV, ask your mom and dad to play with you. Go outside together, or do some reading.

    Be kind. Little things might mean a lot to your mom or dad. You can brighten a parent's day with a hug, a card, or a joke. It's also lovely when a kid cleans up his or her room without being asked. And if you try not to fight with your brothers or sisters, your parents will be so happy!

    Do your best at whatever you do. You don't have to be perfect, but when you do your best, you make your parents proud. It makes them happy to see how you're turning into a good kid. Why？Because it lets them know they're doing a good job.

    I've just got home after a three-week holiday in the USA with my family. It was really great, and I want to remember everything, so I'm putting it all in this diary.

Day 1

    We arrived at New York airport and took a yellow taxi to our hotel. Everything here is so big! People call New York "The city that never sleeps." Another popular name for it is "The Big apple". Don't ask me why! The population (人口) is 7,323,000. And 34 million people visit New York every year!

Day 2

    First we went to the Empire State Building (帝国大厦), which is 381 metres high. We went right up to the top and looked out across New York. It was a fantastic view! After lunch, we went shopping. Clothes and CDs are cheaper than in England, and the shops are really big!

    Although it is a big city, you can't get lost because most of the streets have numbers. For example, if you're in Thirty-fourth Street, It's easy to find Thirty- ninth Street.

Day 3

    It's Saturday. Central Park is the place to go at weekends. It's full of people walking, playing, jogging and skating. There are musicians, artists and tourists like me. There's a great zoo in the park with lots of interesting animals. In the evening we went to the cinema. The Americans call it a "movie theatre". Girls like me always like movies.
