Everyone needs to know how to prevent a fire. It is also important to know what to do when it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (break)out.

    Every year, over 11，000 people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (kill)or injured in house fires. These fires could have been avoided. Smokers who are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (care)cause about 200 deaths and over 6,000 fires. More than of those {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  die in fires are poisoned or harmed by smoke.

    If fire happens, do not attempt to fight the fire unless it is small. Try putting out a small fire with water. If {#blank#}5{#/blank#} fire has spread or if the flames are more than 20 inches high, shut the door on it. Warn everyone else in the building and tell them to get out. You should leave and dial 911 for the fire department.

    Before {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (go)into a room，check the door. If the handle or the door is hot, do not open it! Instead, put clothing or a wet towel at the bottom of it to keep smoke out. If the door is not hot, open it  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (slow)．If there is a rush of smoke heat, close it again and shout to warn {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (other)inside.

    Now open the window and shout “Fire!”. See whether you can drop safely to the ground. Use this {#blank#}9{#/blank#} your escape course if you can. If you are not on ground level, break your fall by pushing a mat out first. Lower yourself at arm's {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (long) before dropping. Once outside, stay out outside and make sure the fire department is called.

    In China, the history of people planting and using bamboo can date back as far as 7000 years. As early as the Shang Dynasty, bamboo was being used in ancient peopled dally lives. It was used for food, clothing, housing, transportation,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (music) instruments and even weapons.

    In Chinese culture, bamboo is well-known as {#blank#}9{#/blank#}of the “four gentlemen” in plants. To many distinguished men，bamboo is a symbol of goodness and honesty. It is always closely related to people of positive spirits. Bamboo culture contributes to encouraging People to hold on when {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(face) tough situations.

    Should naps(小睡) actually {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (take) during the day? Well, we certainly know from {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (evident) in the sleep center and that of many other scientists that naps can give you benefits for both your brain {#blank#}3{#/blank#} your body. But naps can actually be {#blank#}4{#/blank#} double-edged sword because while we're awake during the day, we're building up sleepiness or sleep pressure. So when you try to fall asleep at night, you'll fall asleep quickly and then you'll stay asleep. And when we sleep, we actually release that sleepiness so that we wake up the next morning feeling {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (refresh).

    So if you take a nap during the day, especially if you take it too late in the afternoon, you will actually release some of that sleepiness and it will make it much {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (hard) to fall asleep and stay asleep soundly throughout the night. So the advice would be if you don't struggle with your sleep and you can nap{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (regular), then naps are just fine.

    But if you do find it difficult {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (fall) asleep or stay asleep at night, then you should avoid naps and try to build up that healthy sleepiness in the evening.

    The ideal nap depends on {#blank#}9{#/blank#} you want from that nap. Different stages of sleep actually give you different types of brain and body  {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (benefit).

The annual Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival is Harbin's main tourist highlight. It is the world's biggest winter festival. The {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (bitter) cold winters are just right for this festival.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} sets the Harbin festival apart is the scale and size of the sculptures and the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(beauty) lighting. It is bigger than {#blank#}4{#/blank#}ones in Sapporo, Norway, and Quebec.

The lightning {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(effect) on the huge ice sculptures in the Ice and Snow World are technologically complex.

Officially the festival {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(hold) from the end of December through February. Opening dates keep changing, and ending dates partly depends {#blank#}10{#/blank#}the weather.

The Sun Island Scenic Area will be opened from Dec. 21 to Feb. 28.
