Not everyone can swim with fish in the ocean. But they can enjoy underwater life in another way-by visiting an aquarium.
There is a very large public aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia. The Georgia Aquarium says it is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in the world. It has more than one hundred thousand sea animals in thirty million liters of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . These include two whale sharks —the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} largest fish. And everyone seems to enjoy {#blank#}4{#/blank#} huge public aquariums. They have opened around the world. Visiting an aquarium is a good way for children {#blank#}5{#/blank#} about sea animals. They might even want to start an aquarium at home and join {#blank#}6{#/blank#} of people keeping fish as pets around the world.
We do not really know when people began keeping fish as pets. But people have been interested in fish {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a long time ago. Some say the Chinese kept and studied carp(鲤鱼) and goldfish more than one thousand years ago. The {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Romans kept eels（鳝鱼) as pets . And the Greek philosopher Aristotle(亚里士多德) might be the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to study sea life, including sharks and dolphins.
Some people say that keeping fish at home in small water tanks called aquarium is very {#blank#}10{#/blank#} today.

    A poor farmer had a friend {#blank#}1{#/blank#}was famous for the wonderful apple tree he grew.    

    One day, his friend {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(give) the farmer a young apple tree and told him to plant it. The farmer was pleased with the gift, but he did not know where{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(plant) it.    

    He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the fruit. If he planted the tree in one {#blank#}4{#/blank#}his fields, his neighbors would come at night and steal some of the apples.     In 1990, when I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) nine years old, I wanted very much to find {#blank#}2{#/blank#} pen friend. I found Ashley's address in a magazine, and decided {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (write) to her.

    I sent off my letter with a little hope. Very quickly, I received her letter. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my surprise, Ashley was only one month {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (old) than me. I learned some new expressions from her. I{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (real) liked this new friend.

    Letter after letter, year after year, Ashley and I continued to write to one another. A letter would be received and I'd write back right away. We would send each other birthday and Christma {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (gift).

    Eight years later, my parents decided it was time {#blank#}8{#/blank#} me to meet this friend. They drove me down to Mississippi for a few days. We {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (have) a fun time together. We did the things that teenage girls love to do.

    Twenty-five years after the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (one) letter, Ashley and I still have an amazing friendship. Although we don't write letters now, we communicate through mobile phones and the Internet.
