Last month some parents visited a pizza restaurant in Florida with their children. On the door, they saw a sign "NO CHILDREN." "Why can't we bring our children?" "What on earth does the owner want to do?" The parents were surprised and complained angrily.

So why did the restaurant put up the sign on its door?

Troy Taylor, the owner of the pizza restaurant, found that many parents couldn't control their children and many children couldn't have meals quietly, so they disturbed other customers. Some people said that this was unfair. Mr. Taylor explained his decision. He said that the restaurant was near a busy road, so there might be some danger if the parents didn't take good care of their children. So he made up his mind to ban(禁止)children from his restaurant.

Others supported his decision, they said they were bored of noisy children in restaurants and now they could finally have a place for adults only.

In fact, many other restaurants have also met the same problem. Some have done nothing and others have tried to ban children during certain times of the day. There's one restaurant in Italy. It has been creative in dealing with the problem. They rewarded(奖励) well-behaved children to encourage parents to control their children.

These methods may be useful for a while, but it is difficult to solve this problem completely.

On Noah's Ark(诺亚方舟), Noah and his animals were playing games happily and noisily, but suddenly a woodpecker(啄木鸟) made a hole in the bottom of the ark. As water began entering the boat, the hole got bigger, so more water came in and things got a bit worse.

One by one, different animals tried to fix the hole and they even tried to show that they were better than others and everyone wanted to be the animals that could save the ship. Each animal tried its best but still couldn't help. Everyone was frightened and worried that the boat would sink. That was, until the bee started talking. The bee explained to everyone how bees always worked together as a team, each one doing the job they were best at. On hearing this, all the animals set about working together, each one playing their part by using their won special talent. The birds lift the ship up with their mouths, and moved their wings greatly to make the boat up above the water a little. The elephants drank the water in their trunks(树干) and shot it back into the sea. The fastest animals ran here and there to collect things.

And so, by working together for two and half an hour, the animals stopped the water form coming into the ship completely and they were safe in the end.

根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Kyra Komac, 28 years old, now has 25 furniture(家具)stores all over the country. The new store, in London's Camden High Street, takes her back to where it all started.  She tells us about how the business began.

"When I was little, my mother began selling flowers in Camden Market. She couldn't leave me at home on my own, so I had to go to the market with her. To begin with, I didn't have to do anything. I just sat there, and my mum told me jokes and stories so I didn't get bored. When I got older, I gave my mum a hand and I really enjoyed it."

"Then, one year, my grandma gave me a book for Christmas. It was all about making candles and I loved it. I was 14, and I didn't have to go to the market anymore because Mum could leave me at home on my own. I spent my free time making candles of all shapes and sizes. I made hundreds of them."

"One day, my mother was ill so I had to go to the market on my own. I decided to take some candles with me and see if I could sell them. They were sold out in twenty minutes! The next week, my mum gave me some money to buy some wax(蜡)to make more candles. They were sold out really quickly, too."

"Nine months later, we decided to stop selling flowers. My mum and I couldn't make enough candles during the week, so some of my school friends started to give us a hand. I paid them one pound for every candle, and we used to sell them for three or four times. It was fun and my friends worked with me in the market."

"At the age of 22, my uncle lent me some money and I opened my first shop in Portobello Road. Since then, I've never looked back, even in difficulties. In the first store,  we only sold candles, but now we sell everything from furniture to paintings. Oh, and candles,of course."

There are some things that are almost impossible to say to our close friends — especially if we want (A) them to be our friends for life. Are you wondering what problems others have?

"I can't stand your other friends."

(B)My best friend, Kate, sometimes hangs out with some people that I really don't like. I think they have a bad influence on her, and she only spends time with them because they are "cool". Could you tell me if I should bring the matter up with her, or if it would be better for me to keep quiet? I don't want to lose her as a friend.

— Linda

"I won't help you cheat."

My closest friend, Kim, has lost interest in school and studying. He says he's bored with the whole thing, so he often asks me whether I'll let him copy my homework. By now I've said no, but he keeps asking me. I told him, "I think we'll get in trouble." but he just laughed and told me not to worry. I don't want to put my grades at risk, but I'm afraid to face my friend about this, so I just keep avoiding the topic. How can I get him to stop asking? I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions for dealing with my problem.

— Mike

"No, I CAN'T do that for you!"

Anna is my best friend. We get along with each other well, but she is asking me to do things for her all the time. "Could you help me pick out some new clothes? Would you mind if I borrowed your bike? Can you look after my apartment while I'm away?" And these are just a few examples. I've said yes so many times that now I'm afraid I'll hurt her feelings if I say no. Any ideas?

 — Amy
