During all this time I never stopped thinking about escape. When I traveled across to the other side of the island (岛屿), I could see the other islands, and I said to myself, “Perhaps I can get there with a boat. Perhaps I can get back to England one day.”
So I decided to make myself a boat. I cut down a big tree, and then began to make a long hole (洞) in it. It was hard work, but about six months later, I had a very fine canoe (独木舟). Next, I had to get it down to the sea. How silly I was! Why didn't I think before I began work? Of course, the canoe was too heavy. I couldn't move it! I pulled and pushed and tried everything, but it didn't move. I was very unhappy for a long time after that.
That happened in my fourth year on the island. In my sixth year I did make myself a smaller canoe, but I did not try to escape in it. The boat was too small for a long journey, and I did not want to die at sea. The island was my home now, not my prison, and I was just happy to be alive. A year or two later, I made myself a second canoe on the other side of the island. I also built myself a second house there, and so I had two homes.
My life was still busy from morning to night. There were always things to do or to make. I learnt to make new clothes for myself from the skins of dead animals. They looked very strange, it is true, but they kept me dry in the rain.
I kept food and tools (工具) at both my houses, and also wild goats (山羊). There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learnt to take food from me, and soon I had goats' milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn (玉米) fields. And so many years went by.

    Today, roller-skating is easy and fun. But a long time ago, it wasn't easy at all. Before 1750, no one had any ideas of roller-skating. That changed because of a man named Joseph Merlin. He liked to make things and play the violin in his free time. He was a man of ideas and dreams. People called him a dreamer.

    One day Merlin was invited to a party. He was very pleased and a little excited. As the day of the party came near, Merlin began to think how to make an amazing entrance at the party. He had an idea. He thought everyone at the party would show much interest if he could skate into the room. He tried different ways to make himself roll. Finally, he decided to put two wheels under each shoe. These were the first roller skates. Merlin was very proud of his invention and dreamed of arriving at the party on wheels while playing the violin.

    On the night of the party Merlin rolled into the room playing his violin. Everyone was very surprised to see him. There was just one problem: Merlin had no way to stop his roller skates. He rolled on and on. Suddenly he ran into a mirror that was hanging on the wall. The mirror fell down, breaking into pieces. Merlin's idea was so good that nobody forgot his special entrance for a long time. But could he find out a way to stop his roller skates?

    How do you turn your interests into a business (生意)? Mohammed Ali, 15, a teen gamer from Dewsbury in West Yorkshire, UK, is a good example.

    At the age of 12, he learned how to code (编程) by using YouTube and even made his own video game. Users have to pay 5.99 pounds (56 yuan) per month to play the game. He has already made 30,000 pounds. He also makes websites and is working on a finance app (理财应用软件), which will be open to the public in August.

    Ali has saved lots of money for his future university costs and even bought two sofas for his family's living room.

    "When I first started making money, I thought I'd just spend it all. Then I thought, why should I spend it all? I save most of it in the bank, because I want to do more in the future," he told the Daily Mail.

    He became interested in computers when his parents bought him one at the age of 6. He often played video games on his computer. But after playing so many games, he decided to make his own.

    Then, Ali learned how to code using YouTube videos and by reading books on the subject. In 2012，he made his own game called Project 2006 after working on it for seven months. It was a role-playing game and more than 3, 000 people are members. After his game became popular, he started a website-making business.

    In the future, he wants to go to university and study computer science. "I'm looking forward to studying computer science, not business because I've got a lot of experience in business already," he told the Daily Star.
