I first met Windy, a six-year-old girl, on the beach near where I lived. She was building a sand house there. She looked up, and her eyes were as blue as the sea. Every time when I felt unhappy, I drove to the beach.  

      "Hello, Miss Agnes," she said. I answered, but I didn't really want to stop her. "I'm building," she said. I saw that.

    "What is it?" I asked her. "Oh, I don't know. I just like the feeling of the sand." Oh, that's good, I thought, and took off my shoes to join her. A sandpiper (一种叫做鹬的水鸟) flew by. She told me that it would make me happy. I felt better then.

      A week later on my next visit, I learned that Windy lived in a cottage (小屋) and didn't go to school. Soon after that, my mother died, and I rushed to the beach to be alone. I didn't want to say anything when Windy came up to me. "Why?" she asked.

      I turned to her and shouted, "Because my mother died!" "Oh," she said quietly, "then today is a bad day."

      A month later, I went to the beach but couldn't find Windy. I missed her so much that I visited her house. I learned that Windy had died of leukemia (白血病), but she left a picture of a sandpiper for me.

    She was a poor child, but proud and arrogant（傲慢的）, and people said she was nothing but rude and impolite. When but a very little child, she had pleasure in catching flies to pull off their wings, stick them on a pin and watch them try to get off it.

    As Inger grew up she became even worse instead of better. She was very pretty, and that increased her arrogance. "You'll bring misfortune down upon you," said her own mother to her. "As a little child you often used to break things, and when you're older, I fear you'll break my heart." And she really did. Then she was sent into the town to be in the service of a rich family. They treated her as kindly as if she would have been their daughter and dressed her so well that she looked more beautiful.

    When she had been there for about a year, her mistress（女主人） said to her, "You are supposed to go back and visit your parents, little Inger." So she went, but only because she wanted to show them how fine she had become. When she reached the village, and saw her poor mother resting herself on a stone nearby, with a number of firewood. Inger turned away.

    Another year went by. "You must go and visit your old parents," said her mistress." Here's white bread for them." So Inger put on her new shoes, and walked carefully so that her shoes would stay clean and neat. When she came to somewhere dirty, she threw the bread on the ground and use it as a steppingstone to get across. But once she stepped on it, the bread went down quickly, carrying with the girl into the deep.

    Soon nothing could be seen but a black pool!

    I have a funny friend called Michael. He is about 1. 78mctres tall. He has poor eyesight（视力）because of too much computer work at night. He wears a pair of small, round glasses and they make him look smart.

    Michael likes to tell funny jokes and they always make us laugh. He is humorous. So when I feel bored on unhappy, I always go to him.

    He likes to wear a red T-shirt and jeans. He has short curly brown hair. Michael's legs are very long. When he passes the desk, he often knocks over our school things. He's so funny!

    He is friendly to everyone and likes helping others. He always helps me with my English. With his help, I do well in English. I'm more interested in English.

   The grandmilitary parade (盛大阅兵式) and celebrationswere held in Tian'anmen Square, Beijing on Oct. 1 for the 70th anniversary of thefounding of the People's Republic of China.

   A grandmilitary parade was held in the morning, showing the great progress made by theChinese armed forces in recent years. About 15,000 officers and soldiers took partin the 80-minute parade in front of Tian'anmen Square. Then, a mass pageant(群众游行展) showing China's historical achievements andthe nation's great rejuvenation(伟大复兴)was held. It was seenas a lesson on Chinese history and how far the nation has progressed. The mass pageantlasted 65 minutes and was divided into five parts, each part showed respect to Chineseleaders in the past and leaders now, from Mao Zedong to Xi Jinping. In the evening,a gala(盛会)took place in Tian'anmen Square. The songs, dancesand fireworks celebrated the nation and its people.

    President Xi expressed warm National Day congratulations toChinese people home and abroad. Standing on the Tian'anmen Rostrum in Beijing, whereChairman Mao Zedong announced the founding of the PRC on Oct 1, 1949, Xi recalledChinese history. He also showed a road map for the country to realize the Chinesedream of national rejuvenation. He called for efforts to make a better life andto keep making achievements. The parade and celebrations have set off Chinese people'spatriotism (爱国心)and a strongsense of pride.

I walked into the Huddle House Restaurant in Brunswick, Georgia and sat down at the table. I picked up the menu and was to order something for breakfast.

"Excuse me,"

I looked up and1 a nice-looking woman standing before me.

"Is your name Roger?"2 asked.

"Yes, " I answered, feeling rather surprised as I had never seen her before.

"My name's Barbara and my3 is Tony," She said, pointing to a middle-aged man sitting alone at the table by the window. He was4 and weak.

"Tony White, from Landon School in Jacksonville, Florida," she added.

I looked at that man for a few seconds5 I didn't know him.

"I'm really sorry. The name doesn't  ring the bell," I said.

She walked back, began6 with her husband and once in a while I saw her turn around and look at me.

I ordered breakfast and a cup of7 , sitting there, trying to remember who this Tony was. "I8 know him," I thought to myself. "He knows me for some reason. " I picked up the coffee cup. All of a sudden(突然), it came to me like a flash of lightning. (一道闪电)

"Tony, the bully, the bad boy!" I could9 believe (相信) my eyes. "My God! He's so thin now. Not the big boy that I10 from back in 1997. "

Everything came up to my mind. The time this11 boy had made fun of my big ears in front of the girls in my class, and the time this big bully had pushed(推) me against the walls in the hallway just to make himself12 a big man to all other students.

"I am sorry, Roger," Tony rolled by me in the wheelchair(轮椅), being pushed by his wife, raising his thin, shaking hand. "I am so sorry for13 that I did to you. "

"I'm…I'm  er…" I didn't know14 to say to him.

After a few months, I got a letter from Barbara. Tony was15 . Tony had been a fireman and had been seriously wounded (受伤) in a task.

How I regretted (后悔) for not saying something to him but I no longer had the chance!

Last weekend, my friends and I went on a picnic. On the way there, my friend Mike and I broke our {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(自行车), so we had to walk and were a little late.

When I arrived, I saw everyone {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(有) a good time. Tom was telling a funny story, and it made us all laugh {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(开心). We were very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(饥饿的), so we had a lot of fruit and bread. They were delicious!

During our picnic, we talked about our free time {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(活动). I said that I often help my parents with {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(家务) and do exercise when I am free. Lucy said she enjoys practicing singing every week.

After eating, we played some games. Tom jumped {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(高) than me in the jumping game. It was fun to see everyone so happy.

{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(然而), as the day went on, the sky started to get dark. We {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(决定) to go back home because it seemed {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(下雨). Though the weather changed, we all thought it was a wonderful day. I think it's necessary for us to spend fun time with friends!
