Tom is the son of a farm owner. One New Year's Day, when he was 15, his father  1  him to work on the farm for one year when he was free. Tom was 2with his father's idea." That isn't my job.     Starting one Saturday, the boy got up early and worked 6  till evening, just like any other farmer. Time passed quickly. Tom's crops grew well.  7   the last day of the year, the father said, "I'm happy to see that you have worked very hard the whole year.     We live in a forest in Zambia(赞比亚). There aren't any neighbor 1nearby. And this community school is about an hour's drive from our home. It 2169 students from Grade 1 to Grade 7. There are four teachers in the school. They are volunteers and they teach students 3 getting any money. But sometimes students will give 4 teachers some chicken and corn. There are over 70 languages in Zambia. English is the most popular and 5 of the students can speak English.

    There is no running water in the school and the water pump(水泵) is broken. Teachers and students can't 6 it for two months. So they have to 7 their water from a nearby river. During school holidays, it always rains 8 and the grass grows taller and taller. When school opens again, students will 9 the grass and the school ground.

    Most children in Zambia go to the community schools 10 other schools are too far for them to go. They like their schools and they love their teachers.

    Have you heard of Zhou Yang? She is now well known 1 an excellent short track speed skater (短道速滑运动员).

    Zhou Yang is not an overnight 2. She was born in a poor family in Changchun on June 9th, 1991 and started 3at the age of 8.She fell in love with the 4at once when she put on her skates to train for the first time. Soon her talent (天赋) for short track speed skating was 5. Zhou Yang trained hard and made her way into the national team 6^.

    In the world championships (锦标赛) in 2008, Zhou Yang set a world record in the 1, 500m event. Zhou Yang 7herself again in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her performance gave China the 8gold medal in the women's 1, 500 meters in the Winter Olympics — China had never won the event before.

    "Winning the event is my dream, 9I still have one more dream, winning the relay (接力赛)," Zhou Yang said.

    Her "one more dream" 10when she and her teammates won the women's 3, 000m short track relay with a new world record. 

    Ian Kierman was born in Sydney, Australia, and 1 near the sea. For more than 40 years, he raced in international sailing competitions.

    In 1987, Kierman was competing in an around­the­world race when he began to 2 the huge amount of rubbish in the world's oceans. 3 he returned to Australia, he decided to do something about it.

    He organized a community company called "Clean Up Sydney Harbour". On Sunday, January 8, 1989, more than 40, 000 volunteers came out to 4 away rubbish. The next year, Kierman made the clean­up a national event. It was a huge 5.Across Australia, about  300，000 people spent the day improving their local 6.

    Since then, "Clean Up Australia" has got 7 every year. In 2002, for example, 800, 000 people cleaned up almost 15, 000 tons of rubbish from Australia's beaches, parks and streets.

    Kierman was 8 with the success of his project. In 2003, he started an even bigger program. With the help of the United Nations Environment Program, he introduced "Clean Up the World"， an international program that supports communities around the world in 9 and protecting the environment. "Clean Up the World" has grown 10 and his wonderful idea has now spread from one city to the whole world.
