There was a football game on our school football field last week. We played 1 a team from a country school. They didn't come 2 the last minute. They looked worse than we thought. They were wearing 3 clothes and looked like farm boys. We were sure we must be the 4 because we were always the best.

    We found in 5 that they did much better than us after the game began. They 6 their best and they always played as a team. But we didn't. Finally, we 7 the game and we all felt unhappy.

    We thought much 8 the game. We're too proud(骄傲). We're good players, but we can't 9 win. For us, the most important 10 is; One can't judge(判断) a person only by his clothes. We'll never forget the game!

    It was raining heavily and the temperature was very high. After class, I took two 1to go to the water room to collect some hot water . Oh! There were so many people! I had to wait in the rain. My2 didn't get wet because I wore a hat, but my clothes3.

    When at last it was my 4 I filled the bottles as quickly as possible. I began making my 5 back when I saw a boy coming towards me. He was6 two umbrellas in his hand. He shouted hello and as he came 7 I recognized (认出) that it was Tom.

    He had been my classmate for 8three years, but we never shared more than ten sentences. He was silent, but I liked talking. We were quite9 people and had nothing in common. I didn't like him and even didn't want to see him.

    “Hey! What's wrong?” His words brought me 10my thought. “I saw you standing in the rain, so I brought you this umbrella. But it seems a little 11 your clothes are already wet.”

    On hearing this, I was so 12 that I couldn't say a single word.

    “Don't just stand there. Let's go!” He said and held the umbrella for me. We walked towards the dormitory (宿舍) and this time we13 a lot.

    “I know you don't like me, but I want to 14 with you.” he said, “You may think I am a boy with few15 but it is because I can't find the right words to say.”

    The rain finally stopped and we saw a rainbow in the blue sky. I said to myself, “it is wrong to judge someone only by his appearance.”

    Mr. White wanted to spend a day at the beach. He 1 his daughter Nancy and her two friends, Helen and Karina. They all went to Ocean Beach in New Zealand.

    The group swam and surfed. Then they saw something 2. "They are large fins (鱼鳍)," said Mr. White.

    The 3 saw seven dolphins moving towards them. The dolphins were worried. They 4 the water with theft mils(尾巴). They kept moving around the swimmers. Then one large dolphin swam towards Mr. White and Helen. Next, it dived down underwater. Mr. White saw something grey moving in the 5.

    A shark 6 underwater. It wasn't far from the people. Now the shark was not slow. It moved 7! So the dolphins used their 8 to swim even faster. Each one splashed (飞溅) its tail even more. Then Mr. White knew the dolphins didn't want to 9 him and the girls. These sea mammals (哺乳动物) wanted to keep them safe.

    The dolphins stayed close to the group until the shark 10. When Mr. White and the kids were safe, the dolphins swam away. "You want to say thank you and shake their flippers." Mr. White said. "These dolphins are heroes."

    My father and I always had a bit of trouble in our relationship. It's not that we didn't love each other. It's just that we used to have 1 opinions. My dad is one of the most hard-working men I know, but I was a 2. I played sports as a kid, but 3 when I was making progress. Then I showed an   4 in music. My father got excited and 5 me a guitar when I was about eight. But I didn't like it until I was a teenager. During those teen years, I took up my guitar and 6 playing along.

Then I went to college. My father thought I should focus more on my 7 while I should have more fun playing music. I dreamed to be a musician. When I grew into a young man, I suddenly fell 8 ill one day and it was discovered that I had a terrible kidney(肾) disease. I had to accept treatments all my life, or get a transplant(移植).

    I felt like there was a heavy 9 on my shoulders. Life became hard for me. But I was lucky enough because of my loving parents who 10 me and took care of me. While trying to 11 just what to do with my life, my father got tested to see 12 he was the right man to give me his kidney. I tried to refuse, but he'd hear 13 of it. He saved my life at last.

    Two years ago, I 14 a band. He had always wanted to play in a band, but 15got the chance when he was young. It was one of the greatest gifts I could give to him.

    When I was a little girl, I remember that when my dad was repairing something, every time he asked me to 1the hammer(锤子) for him, just so we would have a time for a 2  with each other. I 3  saw my dad drinking or taking a night out. All he did after work was taking care of his family.

    I grew up and left home for college and since then, my dad had been calling me every Sunday morning, no matter what. And when several 4  later I bought a house, my dad was 5  it by himself for three days in the 38℃ summer heat. All he asked was to hold his paint brush and 6  to him. But I was too 7  in those days. I did not find any time for a conversation with my dad.

    One Sunday morning we had a telephone talk 8 usual, I noticed that my dad had   totally 9  some things that we talked lately. I was in a hurry, so our conversation was a bit  10. Few hours later that day came a call. My father was in a  11  with an aneurysm(动脉瘤). Immediately I bought a ticket for a flight and on my way I was thinking about all12occasions(场合) to have a talk with my dad.

    By the time I 13  at the hospital, my father had passed away. Now it was he who did  not have 14  for a conversation with me. After his death, I 15  much more about him, and even more about myself. All he ever asked me was my time. And now he has all my attention every single day.
