My two little daughters and I usually go out and help others on Thankful Thursday. Last Thursday we were going to buy lunch for the beggars（乞丐） in the street. Then we went to the nearest McDonald's. I ordered 15 lunches from it and drove my car to hand them out.

We gave the lunches to the beggars. They were excited. We were happy to see that.

    Then we noticed a small, old woman, asking for pocket money. We gave her our last lunch bag. Before we got into the car, she started to speak to us, "No one has ever done anything like this for me before, "she said with a smile. "Well, I'm glad that we were the first, "I answered. "So, when will you eat your lunch," I asked.

    She just looked at me with her big, tired brown eyes and said, "OH, dear, I'm not going to eat this lunch. You see, I have a little daughter. I usually can't buy her favorite food, but today she will be so happy!"

    I don't know if the kids noticed the tears in my eyes. I have asked many times whether our actions of kindness were too small to change anything. Yet at that moment, I realized the truth of words: "We cannot do great things —only small things with great love."

Liam Garer was 17 years old when he stood at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, pointed his bike south and started cycling. On January 10,2023,527 days later, he arrived in Ushuaia—the world's southernmost city, in the south American country of Argentina. He cycled 32, 000 km through 14 countries, becoming the youngest person ever to do so.

After finishing high school, Garner didn't want to go to college right away and he wanted to learn more about the world. Then, someone advised him to read the book—To ShakeThe Sleeping Self. It tells the story of a man who biked from Oregon to Patagonia. After reading it, Garner kept thinking to himself, "If that man could do it, why can't I?" So, he decided to give it a try.

Garner camped from Alaska all the way to Central America. After that, he stayed in hostels (招待所) and strangers' homes as he cycled through South America. He advised everyone to see the world if possible. Although he experienced lots of difficulties along the way, he believed that nothing was more important than hope.

So what's next for Garner? Well, he's not going to fly home. He plans to send his bike home and walk back from Argentina.

My pen friend is Lily. She lives in New Zealand. It's next to Australia. She is a smart girl. She likes football. She wants to be a football coach( 教 练 ). She goes to school on foot. She has a brother. His name is Jill. He is only five. He likes singing. Her father is a baseball player. Her mother is a reporter(记者). She works in a TV station(电视台). She is 40 years old She likes using computers. They both go to work by car. They are very happy. 

Before the Shenzhou XV crew（全体工作人员） came back to the earth，they {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a letter to a 16-year-old student named Tsering Dargye. He is from Tibet and studying at Beijing No. 80 High School now. Over 10，000 people sent {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to the crew，but Tsering was the{#blank#}3{#/blank#} one to get an answer back. "I was very{#blank#}4{#/blank#} and was lucky enough to get the letter，"he said. 

In his letter，Tsering showed his strong interest in the sky. The astronaut Fei Junlong wrote the letter to Tsering and encouraged（鼓励） him a lot. "As you wrote in your letter，the road to success is never smooth（平坦的）.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} long as you work hard，you can {#blank#}6{#/blank#} your dreams come true，" Fei wrote. He ended the letter by wishing Tsering and his classmates to be{#blank#}7{#/blank#} in their studies. 

Tsering is now studying hard and plans to spend more time{#blank#}8{#/blank#} his studies for the coming summer vacation. "My dream is to learn computer science at Tsinghua University. No matter {#blank#}9{#/blank#} happens in my life，I will believe in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} and keep on following my dreams，" he said. 

 This summer, when I walked into my grandparents' house with my little sister Nancy, I tried not to look at my Grandpa's chair. It still looked the same. His blue1 was there, just like he was going to pull it over his legs. My cousin Jack was playing in the yard just like 2 happened. "Let' s go to catch fish!" Jack said when he was 3 the fish net(网) from the corner, Grandpa's net.

 Last summer,I was holding the net when Grandpa asked me to help 4 teach Nancy to play chess. I said no because I wanted to catch fish. Grandpa always took us to catch fish, but then the5 stopped him.

 Now I wouldn't have chance to play chess with him again. I6 saying no to Grandpa and felt sorry.

 When we got to the river, we began to catch fish. Suddenly, Jack shouted, "Nancy is shaking!" We didn't bring anything to keep warm 7 I had to take her home.

 Grandma was worried to see a wet Nancy and8 put Grandpa's blue coat around her. As I went to the river again to meet Jack, I looked back at Nancy with that old coat. Something seemed to hit me9 that moment. Everything was just like before, but Grandpa was gone.

I walked to Nancy. "Did Grandpa teach you to play chess last summer?" I asked. "No, Grandpa was too sick." she said, "I miss him."

"Me too." When I said it, I knew Grandpa was never gone. Something 10 was still there. It could be the fish net. It could be the chess. It could be the blue coat.
