Have you ever noticed that you seem to learn faster in certain classes but slowly in others? Maybe you think it's because of the different difficulties of subjects, but the real reason is that our learning types are different.

Now, you may wonder what a learning type is and how to find yours.

There are mainly three different learning types: Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. You can be a combination(混合) of learning types, but most people have one main type. Visual learners learn best by seeing. If you seem to easily remember information from pictures, charts and videos, you are likely a visual learner. Auditory learners learn best by hearing. If you seem to remember things by hearing them, then you are likely an auditory learner.

Kinesthetic learners learn best by doing. If you seem to learn best by working with your hands or testing out what you are shown, you are likely a kinesthetic learner.

So now that you know your personal learning style, the trick is to find out how to use your new-found knowledge to help you  in your classes.

Tips for Visual Learners

＊Pay attention! For visual learners, this is very important! If your teacher uses a PowerPoint, watch the pictures carefully and find out what they might include and their hidden meanings.

＊Take notes by drawing charts and connecting ideas instead of just copying

down a list. This way, your brain will easily connect the different concepts(概念). You can even draw pictures if you find that works better for you.

＊Mark your notes or your note cards in different colors. This will help your brain in keeping all of the information separate. Different colors show different types of information or importance.

＊Download the PowerPoint if your teacher puts it on QQ. This way, you canreview them before an exam.

Tips for Auditory Learners

＊Again, pay attention! If you aren't listening while the lecture is happening, then as an auditory learner, you're missing the easiest way for you to learn.

＊If your teacher allows you to record the lecture, record it for future listening.

＊If you find that taking notes stops you from listening, ask a friend if you can borrow his or her notes or write down everything you remember right after the lesson.

 Tips for Kinesthetic Learners

＊The first point is paying attention once again! For kinesthetic learners, it's especially important to take notes either by writing or typing, in order to actively get information as you receive it.

＊Make use of laboratories and other class activities. Focus on what you're

learning from the experience and pay close attention to the process that you go through.

＊Visualize! That is to imagine yourself picking up information and putting it into a category(类别). This may sound silly, but in this way you're “doing” something without actually physically doing it.

＊Rewrite notes and reread information. Try to translate the information into examples. This can help kinesthetic learners remember what they need to know.

    It is not easy for people to sail (航海) around the world in quite small boats. Sometimes the weather gets bad. Accidents(事故) can happen easily and quickly.

    One family once had an accident. A big fish swam under their boat and bit holes(洞) in it. Sea­ water came in and the boat soon went down. Luckily these people had another small boat—a lifeboat, so they all got into the lifeboat. They lived in the boat for many days. They ate and slept, and always hoped. At last people in a ship saved them.

    How do people live in a very small lifeboat for a long time? They must be strong in every way. They must have a hope, and they must have a strong desire(愿望)to live. People cannot drink seawater. If they drink a lot of seawater, they will quickly die. They must catch rainwater and drink it. They must also catch fish and birds for food. Lifeboats do not often carry cookers. So people cannot cook their food in the lifeboats. Raw (生的) fish and birds are not very nice but they are their only food. They must eat raw food, or they will die.

    Mr. Reynolds, my teacher, handed us a list of thoughts, and asked us to write a paper on one of those thoughts. I chose the topic" I wonder why things are the way they are."

    I wrote down all the questions that puzzled(困扰)me about life. I realized that many of them were hard to answer，and perhaps others could not be answered at all. When I handed in my paper，I was afraid that I might fail because I did not answer the questions.

    The next day, Mr. Reynolds handed me the paper and asked me to read it for the class. The other students became quiet as I began to read my story：

    Mum, why are the roses red? Why is the grass green and the sky blue? Why do I have to graduate(毕业)？Why do I have to grow up? Why do I have to be called "Grandma" one day？

    Dad, why can't I stay out until 12: 00? Why do I miss my old friends? Why do I miss being at home? Why do you love me so much？

Mum, Dad, why did you have to leave me? I need you.

    At the end of my story, I looked at Mr. Reynolds, and I saw a tear slowly coming down his face. Then I realized that life is not built on the answers we receive, but on the questions we ask.

    I have a lot of friends. ⑴我最好的朋友是Mary。⑵She is a 16- year- old girl. .She is 2 years older than me. We live in the same town and we began to know each other when we were very young. Now we are class-mates. ⑶Mary is tall and thin, with long black hair. She has an oval face (椭圆的脸) with big eyes, a high nose and a small mouth. Mary is helpful (乐于助人的).     A middle school teacher from Jiangxi Province gave up her job in e 2005. He Hong has already held many large exhibitions since she took up the traditional art. Her beautiful creations and outstanding skills attracted lots of people. Now, she is considered as the "Queen" of Chinese paper-cutting by many people nationwide.

    Her father worked in the local cultural center. She had an opportunity to learn from some experienced folk (民间的) artists when she was five. With the increasing skill day by day, she began travelling far and wide to find modern ideas from more people. She looked for inspiration(灵感) wherever she went.

    She worked as a teacher for over ten years. In her teaching time, she coached many students in paper-cutting. And over 150 students received first prizes in paper-cutting contests under her guidance. By chance, she established her own company, aiming to further increase the traditional art's influence. She centered great efforts on studying modern consumption trends(消费趋势). And she has created all kinds of household things to meet the need of the market. To her surprise, all her paper-cutting products have sold well in more than 3,000 stores across the country.

    In the course of running her enterprise ,she has set up a complete supply chain(供给链) including design and production as well as sales. It has made many improvements compared with traditional business models. In addition, she spreads her business to clothes, electronics and gifts, along with other industries.

    In America, some teenagers are interested in charity. They are willing to help others. Some teenagers even set up their own charity group. Shreya Papneja is one of them.

    Shreya Papneja is 13 years old. She started a charity group called Children's Health Awareness Program in Schools. Her charity group helps kids make healthy choices and tries to stop childhood obesity(肥胖).

    A doctor once told Papneja that more than one-third of children were overweight. She did a lot of research about it. Then she made a website to teach other children about exercise and healthy eating.

    She does a lot of things for her charity group when she is free. For example, she often organizes different activities at schools around her hometown.

    I know how hard it is to make a change, but I won't give up. At least I've changed a lot. Now I eat more healthy food instead of junk food," she said to a reporter.
