We know the mosquito very well. Mosquitoes fly everywhere. They can be found almost all over the world, and there are more, than 2, 500 kinds of them.

No one likes the mosquito. But the mosquito may decide that she loves you. She? Yes, she. It's true that male mosquito doesn't bite and only the female mosquito bites because she needs blood to lay eggs. She is always looking for things or people she wants to bite. If she likes what she finds, she bites. But if she doesn't like your blood, she will turn to someone else for more delicious blood. Next time a mosquito bites you, just remember you are chosen.     If the mosquito likes you, she lands on your body without letting you know. She bites you so quickly and quietly that you may not feel anything different.     Butterflies are common all over the world，but butterflies in hotter countries are usually bigger and more brightly colored than those in cooler countries，and there are more different kinds．

   Usually the male butterflies are more brightly colored than the females．The females have bigger and heavier bodies since they carry the eggs．The bright colors of the males help to attract the females，and the duller colors of the females make them less likely to be caught by enemies before they have laid their eggs．

   Some butterflies have bright pattern colors on the upper surface of their wings that show when flying ,but when they rest on a tree or leaves , they close their wings．On the undersides of their wings there are green and brown marks which look like the tree or leaves．They are then difficult to be seen．The best example of this is the Dead Leaf Butterfly．When its wings are c1osed，it looks exactly like a dead leaf．There are even marks that look like the holes in a dead leaf．When the butterfly is run after by a bird，it closes its wings and seems to have disappeared completely．

Under the beauty of their colorful covers, the butterflies have their own way to avoid being killed by their enemies. So do the other animals. That's the rules of the nature and also the gifts that were born with.Many butterflies have round marks on their wings that look like eyes.The round marks have a useful function(功能)．When the butterflies are resting，their wings are closed，and these marks can't be seen. When a bird sees one，and begins to attack it，the butterfly will open its Wings. The bird thinks that it sees two eyes staring at it，frightened，and flies away.

    EVERYDAY since March 8, people all over the world are repeatedly asking the same question: Where did Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 go? It turns out to be the saddest answer.

    On March 24, Malaysian Prime Minister(总理) Najib Razak announced that the plane "ended in the southern Indian Ocean". All 239 people on board, including 154 Chinese, died.

    The conclusion was based on satellite(卫星) data from the British Air Accidents Investigation Branch and Inmarsat, a Britain ­based satellite company. No debris(残骸)of the plane had been found.

    The news sent people, especially families of passengers(乘客), into deep sorrow. They are asking for more details about the investigation.

    China has already asked Malaysia to provide(提供) all the information and evidence(证据) leading to the conclusion, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei. He said China would continue with their search effort. "We hope that other countries will also continue their search, " Hong said.

    Have you ever wondered why birds sing? Maybe you thought that they were just happy. After all, you probably sing or whistle when you are happy.

    Some scientists believe that birds do sing some of the time just because they are happy. However, they sing most of the time for a very different reason. Their singing is actually a warning to other birds to stay out of their territory.

    Do you know what a 'territory' is? A territory is an area that an animal, usually the male, claims as its own. Only he and his family are welcome there. No other families of the same species are welcome. Your yard and house are your territory where only your family and friends are welcome. If a stranger should enter your territory and threaten you, you might shout. Probably this would be enough to frighten him away.

    If so, you have actually scared the stranger away without having to fight him. A bird does the same thing. But he expects an outsider almost any time, especially at nesting（筑巢）season. So he is screaming all the time, whether he can see an outsider or not. This screaming is what we call a bird's song, and it is usually enough to keep an outsider away.

    Birds sing loudest in the spring when they are trying to attract a mate and warn others not to enter the territory of theirs.

    You can see that birds have a language of their own. Most of it has to do with attracting mates and setting up territories.

    We live in the world full of colours. Does a colour have weight? If you say “no”, you are wrong. If you don't believe, you may do an experiment.

    First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes. Third, wrap one box with a red piece of paper, the other woth a white piece of paper. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you think the red one is a little heavier.

    Why? A scientist found that different colours have different weight in a man's mind. So he did many tests and at last he found that every colour has its own weight in our mind and their order is the same. The heaviest colour is red, then blue, green, orange, yellow and white.

    The scientist told us that colours also have smell. Can you smell the colour? Of course not. Then why did the scientist say so? That is because every colour stands for a kind of light with a certain wavelength, and it reaches our brain through sense organs.

    According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colours they like, and refuse the colours they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colours you like. Or you'll be nervous or even get ill. For example, if you stay in a room with red windows, wallpapers and furniture for two hours, you'll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you'll feel you have been there for only an hour. Another example, if a person walks out of a red room and into a blue room, his temperature will fall. That means our body temperature will change with different colours.
