In the movie, he helps the dwarves to get their kingdom back from the dragon Smaug, and also fights an {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(expect) group of enemies. He shows that true heroics are not the absence of fear, but {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(have) that fear and doing something anyway.

His personality and habits

He is so old {#blank#}8{#/blank#} he doesn't use computers much, so he prefers his scripts to be mailed to him rather than e-mailed. He said he always saw the world in a funny way and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(learn) not to care about being criticized.

    Recently I failed an exam. However, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}I came out of my teacher's office, I told myself, "Smile! It's not so serious."

    Though mass media has many positive effects, there are some{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (harm) associated with it as well. The news{#blank#}9{#/blank#} is published without checking whether it is a fact or not can create unnecessary confusion and extreme feelings among the common masses. It becomes the duty of media{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(provide) only relevant and precise information to the masses.

    In the closing ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018  China put on {#blank#}1{#/blank#} eight-minute performance "See You in Beijing in 2022", {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (direct) by Zhang Yimou. The show centered on the talents of a team of 24 roller-skating {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (perform) from Beijing Sport University. Two of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) dressed up as "Panda Captains" led the performance.     I was only in China for about 4 months last year. I stayed in Shanghai and visited some other cities {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (include) Beijing. While the price feels a bit too much for a high speed train, the Chinese infrastructure (基础建设) is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (true) far ahead of any other developing country and even some developed ones in Europe. The train stations are as big {#blank#}3{#/blank#} airports: almost everything in {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) is like airports. They have all the high standards of airports but without the waiting time. The trains are just like those from Germany or France, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} are clean, modern and highly developed and run at very high speeds. It is about 1,200 kms from Shanghai to Beijing, and each high speed train {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (take) around 4 and a half hours to reach its destination and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} are more than 2 trains every hour, each day.

    I also had the experience of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sit) in Maglev (磁力悬浮列车) in Shanghai. There is a public maglev train that runs from Shanghai city to its international airport. The {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (distant) from the city to the airport is 40 kms and the speed of the train is 430 kms/hr. It took us just around 6 mins {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (cover) 40 kms and it felt rather smooth.

    Keeping a diary in English is one of the effective ways to improve our English writing ability.

    Compared with other forms of writing, it is shorter and takes{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (little) time. It can help us to develop the habit of thinking in English. If we persist in this practice, gradually we'll learn how{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(express)ourselves in English. In keeping a diary in English, we certainly run up against many{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(difficult). In the first place, it often happens that we have trouble in{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (find) appropriate words and phrases to give expression to our mind. Secondly, there{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) many idiomatic ways of saying things in Chinese. And it is extremely hard for us to put them into English {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (proper).

    As far as I am {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(concern), my suggestion is {#blank#}8{#/blank#}we should always have a notebook and a Chinese-English dictionary within easy reach. Whenever something beats us, we can first put it down in our notebook and then consult our dictionary. We can also ask our English teacher {#blank#}9{#/blank#} help, if necessary. In short, I believe that it is of great use to keep a diary in English for{#blank#}10{#/blank#} development of our writing skills.
