牛津版(深圳•广州)2019-2020学年初中英语七年级上册 Unit 5自主检测

阅读下面短文,从下面每小题的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

In the universe, as we all know, there is the Sun, the Moon, the Earth and a good many stars. Through our geography lessons, we know the Earth goes around the Sun, and the Moon goes around the Earth. We have day and night because the Earth keeps turning all the time. When our part of the Earth turns to the Sun, it is day. When our part of the Earth turns away from the Sun, it is night.

Just because the Moon is closer to the Earth than the Sun, it looks much bigger than the Sun. Big things will look smaller when they are further, and small things also look bigger when they are nearer.

The Sun is big enough to give out very strong light. The Moon can't give out any light at all, but it looks quite bright, too. Why? In fact, the light from the Moon comes from the Sun. The Moon looks much bigger and brighter than the stars. But actually the stars are much bigger and brighter than the Moon. They look smaller than the Moon also because they are farther away from the Earth.

There are many other planets in the universe. But of all the planets, only on the Earth there are living things and people can only live on the Earth, too. But at 9: 00 a. m. on October 15th, 2003, Chinese pilot Yang Liwei was sent up to space. He stayed there for over 21 hours. It was the first time for Chinese to get into space.

(3)、People and living things can live on the ________.

(4)、When did the pilot from our country return to the Earth?

(5)、Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A、The Moon goes around the Earth and it can't give out any light at all. B、The Moon goes around the Sun and its light is from the Sun. C、The Earth moves around the Moon and people can live only or the Earth. D、Of all the planets, only the Earth moves around the Sun.
举一反三
I have been using the Internet since I was five years old, when my dad first sat me down in front of a computer and connected me the World Wide Web.
I've always felt like a master of the Internet world. AOL Instant Messaging, MSN, Gmail, Facebook. Myspace—I've got it all under control. I thought there was nothing more to it besides checking my e-mail and wasting my time, until I was introduced to electronic commerce(e-commerce): business on the Internet.
Some online business are run from one- room home offices. Others have hundreds of employee(雇员)spread across five different continent. Have you ever heard of Amazon. com, Yahoo. com?
My friends often said they got cheap textbooks off Amazon.com, or had a good deal(交易)on Steve Madden boots that were on sale at SteveMaden.com. Unfortunately for me, I continued my "e-commerceless"Web-surfing, unaware(不知道)of all the deals I was missing out on.
That is, of course, until my sister finally sold the idea to me.
"Why are all these packages arriving in the mail for you, Katy?" I asked her one day. Strange envelopes had been put on our doorstep for weeks now, each one always addressed to my sister and we all know little sisters should never be getting more mail than their elders!
"Oh, it's the things I ordered online!" she answered. I watched speechlessly as she opened them. There was no way our parents were letting her spend that much money- online or off!
"How much did all of this coat?"
"Oh, only about $15in all!" She said excitedly. "Everything on eBay is on sale! It's way better than going to the mall."
I felt as if my entire life, there had been a store right in my backyard that I had never walked into! That week, I ordered a used Spanish textbook for my summer course online for 10 percent of the publishing price. A few days later, I bought an iPod protector and a book or two via the wonderful eBay.com.

Artificial intelligence(人工智能), or AI in short, is the science of giving computers and machines ability to think and work like humans. AI scientists and engineers have made a lot of cool technologies.

AI is rapidly catching up with the human ability to read faces. As a result, facial recognition(识别)is used a lot in the world. Chinese police use this technology to identify criminals(罪犯).Once they caught a criminal when he attended a concert. It also checks the ID of ride-hailing(网约车)drivers and lets people pay for things with a smile.

AI is also used in self-driving cars, which are believed to be the future of driving. Most drivers may wave or nod at passers-by to let them cross the street, but self-driving cars don't have this ability. Carmakers are testing a light signal system to help them "speak" to humans. The system can show what self-driving cars will do. For example, if a driverless car is yielding(让路), it will flash two white lights side to side. A rapidly flashing light tells passers-by that the car is about to speed up.

Service Robots also show you know powerful AI is. Imagine this—you come back home from school and your robot housekeeper is waiting for you at the door. After dinner, he teaches you to play the piano, just like a real music teacher. Such thoughts will soon happen in the real world. In the future, more and more service robots will become good home helpers.

AI is so powerful that it can help human beings and even replace us in many jobs.
