    Self-esteem(自尊) plays a role in almost everything you do.  They can have better relationships with peers(同龄人) and adults, feel happier, find it easier to deal with mistakes, disappointments and failures, and are more likely to stick with something until they succeed.

    If you want to improve your self-esteem, here are some useful tips.

    Try to stop having negative thoughts about yourself. If you're used to focusing on your shortcomings, start thinking about positive aspects of yourself.

    View mistakes as learning opportunities. Accept that you will make mistakes because everyone does.  Remind yourself that a person's talents are constantly developing, and everyone does well in different things.

     If you realize that you're unhappy with something that you can change, then start today. If it's something you can't change(like your height), then start to work toward loving yourself the way you are.

    Make a contribution. Help a classmate who's having trouble, offer to clean up your neighborhood or volunteer your time in some other way.

    Have fun. Enjoy spending time with the people you care about and doing the things you love. Relax and have a good time — and avoid putting your life on hold.

It takes some work to develop good self-esteem, but once you do it's a skill you'll have for life.

A. Mistakes are part of learning.

B. Recognize what you can change and what you can't.

C. Low self-esteem is a negative evaluation(评价) of oneself.

D. Feeling like you are making a difference and that your help is valued can do wonders to improve self-esteem.

E. Each day, write down three things about yourself that make you happy.

F. People with high self-esteem do better in school and find it easier to make friends.

G. Experience is the great thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

    Most drinks stating that they are fruit flavored contain no fruit at all, while most of the rest contain only a small quantity of fruit, according to a study carried by the British Food Commission.

    "Shoppers need to check the labels before buying drinks, though sometimes the actual content can be nonexistent," said Food Commission spokesperson Ian Tokelove. "Food production is highly competitive. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It will increase profits, and consumers won't always realize they are being tricked."

    Flavorings are focused on the flavors of natural food products such as fruits, meats and vegetables, or creating flavor for food products that do not have the desired flavors. Researchers analyzed the contents of 28 strawberryflavored products sold in stores.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Of the 11 products that did contain strawberries, five of them contained less than one percent real fruit. In addition, each juice box contained nearly eight teaspoons of sugar.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Let's take jam as an example. Some strawberryflavored jam was labeled as containing no artificial color1 s, flavors, or sweeteners, but it contained ly no strawberries at all.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Consumers have the rights to know clearly about what they have bought. Under current UK law, food packages do not have to distinguish between natural and artificial flavoring. "Describing a product as strawberry flavor and covering the surface of the packet with pictures of strawberries is misleading.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Unfortunately, it is also legal and widespread," Tokelove said. "It's time to take measures to protect the consumers' rights."

    Theme park getaways are popular with families, but they sure aren't cheap. Happily, there are some golden rules of ticket-buying that apply to pretty much every theme park, and they can help you chip away at the cost of tickets. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Buy tickets online.

    Never ever pay the walk-up ticket price at a theme park. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} You're guaranteed to save a significant sum-sometimes as much as $ 20 per ticket-even for same-day tickets.

    Buy in advance.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} For instance, Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, slices off $25 per ticket when you make your purchase at least three days ahead.

     {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    This one is a universal no-brainer. Single-day ticket prices at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, are about 30 percent less than admission on Saturdays and Sundays. But the big bonus is that lines will be much shorter, allowing you to spend less time waiting in lines and more time having fun.

    Go in the afternoon.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} For example, Hersheypark's sunset tickets allow entry after 4 pm or 5 pm, depending on the day. You'll still get between four to six hours of fun before the park closes, and you'll pay up to 50 percent less than the full-day ticket price.

Boosting(促进) your Brain Power

    Who hasn't wished that they were just a little smarter? Maybe you're in school and just want to get a better grade on a test. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Here are some ways you can go about boosting your brainpower.

    Sleep is one of the easiest things to do, yet one of the ones that most of us don't do. We live in a busy age and often it seems that we don't have enough time to get everything done. So many of us sacrifice our hours of sleep to accomplish our daily tasks. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Read a book. Being smarter is not only about thinking but knowledge plays a big part in it, too. Reading helps your brain stay active.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Think of it as exercise for the brain.

    Try turning off that television set and going for a walk. A walk will stimulate your body and relax your mind. Just as watching too much TV can hurt your body, it also causes your brain to slow down as well.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} There is a big difference between knowing something and being able to teach it to someone else. There is nothing like trying to break something down into simpler terms for others to help you understand it better than you did before.

    Work on a puzzle. It can be anything from the newspaper crossword or the new Sudoku puzzle. Puzzles help you use your brain to figure out the answers.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Your brain needs exercise just like your body does to be able to function in top form.

Whether you're traveling to the next town over or to the other side of the word, careful planning goes a long way toward ensuring your trip is a success. The right preparation helps you avoid potential disasters, such as having your credit card declined or running out of clean clothes to wear. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Make your reservations for fights and accommodations.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, where you want to stay and how you want to get around, make your reservations. For flights, book around two months out. And don't wait till the last minute for your hotels either. You don't want them to be booked or almost-booked because then prices skyrocket.

Set a travel budget.

Before you do anything, you need to know how much money you will have for this trip. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, so start your planning by breaking down how much you want to spend on transportation, food, accommodation, sightseeing and any other activities you hope to include in your trip.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

If you're going abroad, you may be required to get a visa. Besides, check the website of your intended country's consulate or embassy to see what is required for you to enter the country. Visas may take weeks or even months to finalize, so check early in the planning process.

Pack appropriate clothing for your destination and trip.

Check the weather at your destination 2-3 days before you depart. This will let you know what type of clothes you need to bring. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Will you be expected to wear a suit for a conference, or will you be able to bathe in a bathing suit on the beach?

A. In addition, consider the nature of your trip

B. Obtain a visa for international destinations if necessary

C. Once you're sure of where you want to go and when you want to go

D. All trips are meant for adventure, relaxation, and enjoyment

E. Travel agents simply must charge booking fees, or they cannot stay in business

F. Here are some tips on how to plan your travel well to ensure a great travel experience

G. It's easy to overspend when you're traveling if you don't plan ahead

Are you too responsible?

Taking responsibility is an essential element of strong leadership. But when the scales tip to over-responsibility, both the leader and their team suffer. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Define what you're truly responsible for. When it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, try the following pie-chart exercise.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Draw a circle on your paper and allocate responsibility for the situation to each person on your list. Add up those amounts and determine the remaining percentage. The amount left over is your actual share of responsibility.

Examine your assumptions. To start overturning your over-responsibility habit, examine the beliefs and fears that keep it alive. Are they really true? Reframe the release of responsibility and consider that you're empowering others. Allow them to struggle with a task, solve their own problem, or own up to a mistake. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

Give responsibilities back. Whether you willingly assumed a given responsibility or it was placed on you, it's time to return it to its rightful owner. Identify one responsibility you can return to a specific person. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Expect a few discomfort at first, but resist the temptation to jump back in.

Accept help. If you're overly responsible, you likely say "yes" whenever others ask for help but don't ask for any yourself. It's time to rebalance your give-accept proportion {#blank#}5{#/blank#} If someone asks if they can take something off your plate or offers to do something for you, say "yes."

Rightsizing your responsibility is not about escaping what is yours to own but finding a more appropriate balance. By taking 100% of your responsibility, but not more, you will avoid unnecessary stress and help others grow.

A.Practice accepting offers of help.

B.Grab a piece of paper and list everyone involved.

C.It may be a simple task that someone else should be doing.

D.The following strategies may help you find a more appropriate balance.

E.In this way,you help them develop greater competence and confidence.

F.Leaders who ask for help increase the feelings of connection on their team.

G.If so,these could be signs that you have an overactive sense of responsibility.
