Sumeja Tulic had moved from London to New York nine months ago to attend journalism school. Yet her time in New York met with a season of never-ending ugliness in politics and acts of terrorism(恐怖主义) around the world. “One day you laugh, and then you're angry,” said Tulic. As she walked toward the subway station, she thought, “I want to see something nice. Enough of this craziness.”

    At the City Hall station, she saw a man resting against a pillar(柱子), the way anyone might, waiting for the train. The stillness was interrupted(打断) by an announcement that the next train was two stations away. Then Tulic saw the man at the pillar falling forward onto the tracks.

    The man who had fallen was not moving. In what seemed like an instant, three men jumped down to help.

    I don't know where these men got the intelligence and the quickness," Tulic said. "The man who fell was about six feet tall and quite heavy. He was kind of stuck in the tracks. It was terrifying to know that the train was coming. Will it stop? Will they succeed in pulling him out?"

    On the tracks, the unconscious(失去知觉的) man was put into a sitting position by the three men, who then lifted him from below to others who lifted from above and rolled him onto the platform. Then the rescuers were themselves rescued, pulled back to safety by helping hands. As soon as they were all clear, the train pulled in. People getting off the train walked around this unconscious man.

    Two of the men who had jumped onto the platform were holding his hands. “They were saying, ‘You're going to be fine,'” Tulic said. “This was an additional layer of goodness.”

    Doctors arrived, and the man was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

    “That is the greatest thing,” Tulic said. “The infrastructure(基础) in this city of millions is the people themselves providing, being there for others, without even knowing the person, who he is. It was beautiful to see.”

    Two heads are better than one. It means that two people working together have a better chance of solving a problem than one person alone. But not everyone likes working in a group.

    There can be a number of reasons why people dislike group work. Some may feel nervous or uneasy in group situations. Others might have had a bad experience with individuals who did not work well as a team. Another comment is that teachers or instructors fail to provide roles for group members. This may create a situation where everyone or no one wants to lead. Whatever the issue, the result is the same: the group does not realize its goal.

    Cooperative (合作的) learning is an educational method that can help to solve this problem. There are many methods of cooperative learning. Today we will talk about one: giving each person in a small group a specific duty to reach a shared goal. For example, if learners are divided into groups of four people each, their roles might be: leader, writer, checker and speaker. This structure helps ensure that everyone takes part equally in group work and allows each member to play a meaningful part in completing the shared goal.

    Before dividing learners into groups, it is a good idea for the teacher or club's instructor to first have knowledge about the language skill levels of participants. The goal is to make each group a mixture of higher- and lower-level language learners. Putting too many people with similar skill levels together could make the work too difficult or easy. Role cards can be a helpful tool in this method of cooperative learning. Their purpose is to remind learners of each person's role.

    Before the cooperative activity, the role of the teacher or activity instructor is to explain two things to the group: the main job for the activity and how the cooperative roles work. The person in charge may appoint these roles or let the English learners choose them. Then, during the activity, the instructor's job is to watch the groups and provide more guidance when needed. After the activity, the instructor may wish to provide feedback to groups on their work and their use of cooperation.

    With this cooperative learning method, you can say that four heads are better than just one.

    Beyoncé Knowles can do something that many humans struggle with: sing and dance at the same time. But, it turns out this great ability is not unique to humans. The superb lyrebird, already known to be a gifted singer, can perform coordinated(协调的)song­and­dance routines(一套舞蹈动作)that put most humans to shame.

    The superb lyrebird is one of only two lyrebird species living in Australia, the other named Albert's lyrebird. Male lyrebirds have tails in the shape of an ancient musical instrument when spread out. Like most animals with beautiful body parts, the males use their tails to attract females. Each one sets up a small mound(小丘)on the forest floor, where he walks around proudly and sings. He also shows his tail by holding it over his head.

    Lyrebirds are gifted mimics(模仿者), so their songs combine their own calls, the songs of other species, and sounds they have heard in the forest. That would be enough showing off for other animals, but male superb lyrebirds also dance.

    Anastasia Dalziell of the Australian National University in Canberra filmed 12 lyrebirds in the wild. She found that males only danced during four song types, and that each song type was accompanied by a specific move. “Lyrebirds match different dance styles to different types of songs, ”she says. For example, when the male sang a series of rapid notes he also stepped to the side and held his tail wide. Another song type was accompanied by jumping and moving up and down, with the tail held narrow.

    “Our results suggest that the coordination between song and dance—like movements we see in humans can occur in other animals,” says Dalziell. Female lyrebirds might prefer males that are better at coordinating song and dance, although there is no evidence of that yet.

The cultural relics authority of Northwest China's Shaanxi province will send conservationists（保护工作者）to repair a Terracotta Warrior that had its thumb stolen by a member of the public while on display at a Philadelphia museum.

    US departments that are involved should guarantee the safety of the relics on display, and parties concerned will be held legally accountable, the provincial cultural heritage department said on Sunday.

According to the Stolen（Lost）Cultural Relics Information Publishing Platform of China, which went online late last year, up to 60 percent of cases of theft have occurred in museums and historical relics institutions. However, most cases occurred in the 1980s and 1990s. As security technology developed in recent years, it has become more difficult to steal a cultural relic from a museum in China, according to the publishing platform.

    Chen Shiqu, deputy head of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Ministry of Public Security, said during a previous interview that the prices of cultural relics have risen in recent years, leading to more thefts by using upgraded technology.

    "Some criminals are equipped with high-tech tools that can make a tunnel very quickly to steal and transport the cultural relics," he said.  "China will continue to complete the mechanism for fighting against and preventing relies thefts. We will crack down on（打击）the whole market chain, including the trading of the relics and organized thefts. All involved offenders will face criminal liability."

    Meanwhile, US authorities said Michael Rohans, 24, from the US state of Delaware was arrested in connection with the theft and has been released on $15, C00 bail（保释金）, on the condition that he surrender his passport, consent to drug testing and refrain from leaving the country before trial. Museum staff members noticed the missing thumb on Jan 8, and a special agent from the FBI's Art Crime Team tracked down Rohana days later.
