Ten Chinese engineers were driving down a road to a NationalForest Park.

    They were{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(sudden) amazed by what they saw. Three tall animals,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(cover) with long black hair, werecrossing the road. On {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(see) the animals, the engineers immediately stopped and ran after them. However, when they saw {#blank#}4{#/blank#}move through the forest with great speed and strength, they did not dare to follow any {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(far).

    The men did not take any photographs but scientists were delighted by the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(discover), because the engineers are all well educated people and scientists feel they canrely on what they {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(describe).

    Scientists returned to the forest, collected some hair and measured footprints, {#blank#}8{#/blank#}are about 20 inches. They appear to be the animals' feet! Chinese scientist have now set upa special group to exchange information and made a study of the forest. But inthe meantime, some people refuse to believe that this half-man, half-monkey {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(exist). They will not believe it {#blank#}10{#/blank#}oneof the animals have been caught.

    Jane Goodall, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} is famous for chimp research spent years {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (observe)and recording chimps' daily {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (behave). She discovered {#blank#}4{#/blank#} chimps eat are meat, fruits and nuts. She also discovered chimps can communicate with each other, and her study also can help chimps lead  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} safer as well as happier life.

    For forty years, Jane has tried her best {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (make) the world understand that wildlife is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (respect). She has argued that wild animals should {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (leave) in the wild instead of in the zoo.

    She said once she separated from chimps, all the memories would crowd {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. She remembered the chimps in labs and small chimps in cages though they had done nothing wrong. She will continue helping them. Her achievements are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (inspire) for us to do more.

    The giant vending machine (自动售货机) is a new village shop

Villagers have long been used to facing a drive when they run out of basic supplies. However, help is now nearer at hand in form of the country's first automatic push-button shop. Now residents in the Derbyshire Village of Clifton can buy groceries around the clock after the huge vending was installed outside a pub in the village this week.

    Peter Fox, who is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}electrical engineer, spent two and a half years working on the project. The machine {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (equip) with securing cameras and alarms and looks like a mini shop with a brick front, a grey roof and a display window.

    Mr. Fox said he hoped his invention,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} is set to be installed in other villages in the area over the coming months, will mark a return to convenience shopping for rural communities.

He said:“ I had this idea a few years ago but I couldn't find a manufacture who could deliver what I wanted, so I did it by{#blank#}4{#/blank#} The result is what amounts to huge outdoor vending machine. Yet I think the term “automatic shop” is far {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (appropriate)

    In recent years, the commercial pressure from supermarket chains{#blank#}6{#/blank#} force village shops across the country to close. In 2010, it was estimated that about 400 village shops closed,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (urge) the local government to give financial support to struggling shops or set-up new communities stores.

    Hundreds of communities have since stepped in and opened up their won volunteer-run shops, but Mr. Fox hopes his new invention will offer a solution{#blank#}8{#/blank#}these villages without a local shop.

    On a clear February morning, a California black bear was set free. Looking around, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(skillful) climbed the nearest tree. From high above the ground, he could see the hundreds of acres{#blank#}2{#/blank#}were now his home. His eyes were filled with {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(curious)

The bear had come a long way. Last fall, the seven-month-old bear bub(幼兽) was found all alone. He had no mother to care for him. He was thin,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (weight) only 20 pounds—-about half the normal weight for a bear that age. Luckily the bub{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(bring) to The Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona, California. At the center, the bub shared{#blank#}6{#/blank#} outdoor enclosure(围栏) with another bear. There were trees to climb and places for them to dig dens(兽穴).{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (teach) the cub to find his own food, people working at the center {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(hide) fruit in tree branches. Soon, the bear was an expert at climbing trees and "picking" the fruit. All the staff felt{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(amaze) at his adaptability.

Finally, the day had come. With his new skill and strong body, the bub was ready to be{#blank#}10{#/blank#}his own, and ready to live like a bear should— in the wild.

    Woodblock painting（木版画）are often hung at homes during the Chinese Lunar New Year.

    For many Chinese, the bright-colored paintings are quite time-limited. As soon as the festival comes to an end, these print works are at once thrown away. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, these short-lives New Year paintings require a year of hard work by the artists, many of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} have devoted their entire life to this traditional folk art.

    Yang Luoshu, a 92-year-old man from Weifang City, Shandong Province, is {#blank#}3{#/blank#} those who have had a great love of the art. Yang has worked as {#blank#}4{#/blank#} craftsman for 77 years, and has kept improving his carving skills with every piece of work.

    Yangjiabu New Year woodblock paintings, which Yang has fallen in love with, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(appear) in the Ming Dynasty. As a national cultural heritage, it is now one of China's three {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(representative) of traditional folk paintings for the New Year, together with Tianjin's Yangliuqing and Suzhou's Taohuawu.

    {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(run) a centuries-old folk art family workshop named Tongshunde, Yang has carved all kinds of images, including flowers, birds, mountains, rivers and traditional Chinese gods. But he realizes that something must be changed {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(make) sure handmade New Year paintings live on. “We are now thinking about development, allowing the paintings to be more {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(create).” he said. For him, the next thing to do is to find qualified successors to ensure that the skills {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(pass) to younger generations.

    Positive thinking does not mean you have to find every idea absolutely wonderful.

    It {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (do) mean you have to be ready to explore an idea and to try and bring out whatever good features it has .The next step might be to find the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (weak) in the idea and to try and strengthen them, rather than use them {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (simple) as an excuse for rejecting the whole idea. Finally, the idea, after it {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (explore), may not be used because there is a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (good) one or because, good {#blank#}6{#/blank#} it is, it is not suitable. There is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (something) wrong with being positive about an idea at first and then {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (reject) it later, when you see that it won't work.

    It is easy to be negative and critical and too much talent is wasted in negative thinking. It is time we {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (show) less respect for this kind of destructive thinking and focused {#blank#}10{#/blank#} positive thinking more. So remember to think positively.
