It is Sunday today. Anna goes shopping with her mother. She wants her mother to buy a new coat for her. In Hongxing Shop, she finds a green coat. She tries it on. It's too small. She wants a big one, but the big one is not green. Anna doesn't like other colors.“Let's go to another(另外的)  shop to have a look.”her mother says. Then they go to Jiajiale Shop. The shop is big and they see many kinds of coats in different colors and sizes(尺码). Anna tries on a green one. It looks nice on her. So they take it for forty-five yuan.

    When I was a kid, I did something really terrible. My father bought me two goldfish and named them "Iasc" and" Iasc Elie". He told me that meant "Fish" and "Other Fish" in Irish. To an eight-year-old child, the names seemed really boring.

    These boring names made me feel the goldfish were boring, too.  They did nothing more than swim around in their bowl. Sometimes, for fun, they would swim to the bottom of their bowl and dance around along the bottom, looking for interesting pieces of gravel.

    I tried many ways to make the goldfish more exciting. The most interesting thing was to see how long they could live out of the water. I took a fish out of the water with my hands and watched it gasping for air. Then I put it back in the bowl.  And then I would take them out of the water again, for longer and longer each time.

    Iasc and Iasc Elie started swimming towards the top of the water, not moving very much. Then they started floating on the top of the water. In other words, they were dead.

    I thought that bigger pets are more exciting, such as a cat and a dog. It would live longer than a goldfish, and then I kept a dog as my pet.

Nicky got home from school, looking unhappy. "What's the matter, my dear?" her mum asked. Nicky {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(拒绝) to say anything about her problem at first, but her mum kept asking. At last, Nicky {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (解释) to her mum.

Nicky's school would hold a model building competition. Many of Nicky's friends would enter the competition. Nicky didn't know {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (是 否) she should enter the competition or not, because she didn't think she was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (有耐心的) enough to build a wonderful model. Knowing her problem, Nicky's mum {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (鼓励) her to join in the competition."I know you will do it very well,"her mum said. "{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (信任) me. You can learn how to do it quickly!"

Nicky thought in {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(无声) for a few minutes, and then nodded her head. To make a wonderful model, Nicky cut out a lot of parts from paper and carefully {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (粘贴) them together with glue. Her mum gave her many good {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(建议), and Nicky also learnt a lot from her friends. On the day of the competition, many models were on the desk. They {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (包括) Nicky's. Nicky thought it was the happiest time in her life!

Three students are sharing stories about their favorite teachers.

Today is Saturday. Our school is having a(n) 1 on the playground now. Look! There is a basketball match 2 Class One and Class Four. They are playing well. Last year Class One was 3 , so they lost to Class Four. Look! The high jump is over there. Li Gang from Class Three 4 1. 20 metres, but Zhang Kai from Class Five jumps 0. 05 metres 5 than him. On the corner(角落) of the playground, you can 6 some students. They are 7 the 100-metre race. Who is the 8 in red? She is Wang Mei. She is from Class Three. She is good at 9 . She runs 4, 000 metres every morning on the school playground. This time she hopes to be the 10 in the race. We all love sports. We know sports are good for us. 

People can hardly believe that Fred Carey is one of the best students in his class. He used 1 a trouble maker and often drove his teacher mad.

Fred's father died when he was just a 2 boy. Life became 3 for him. His mother had to work to pay for his education. As a result, she was seldom at home. She tried to look 4 him well, but Fred caused a lot of problems for himself and his family. He had no 5 in studying and often got into trouble with the police. Luckily, his mother was very patient and didn't give up 6 him. 7 the end, she made a difficult decision 8 him to a boys' boarding school. Fred hated it at first and caused even 9 trouble. He told his teacher he wanted to leave the school. Even the teacher agreed that Fred was wasting his time.

The headmaster suggested that Fred should have a talk with his mother. "It was exactly 10 I needed." he said. "My mother helped me understand how much she had given to me. She also told me that 11 my father was no longer with us, he was watching me and would always be proud of everything good I had done. That's the time when I decided to change. I realized that since my father 12 , I had been afraid of being alone, and had tried to make my mother 13 more about me."

Now Fred has 14 changed. He has been working hard. How was he able to change? His mother's love helped him to feel good about himself, and as Fred himself says, "15 very important for parents to be there for their children."
