Smartphone apps certainly make our lives easily. However, sometimes they can also cause problems.

Recently, the Ministry of Education(教育部) announced that teacher should not use Wechat or QQ to give homework or ask parents to grade kids's homework.

Many teachers in China depend heavily on apps to give homework. The kids have to do their homework, stare at a phone screen. 举一反三
Computers can injure you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off a bike and break your arms, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly.
You probably know how to ride a bike safely. Now learn to use a computer safely.
Your eyes
Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes should be at least 50cm from the screen. Remember to look away from it sometimes. This gives your eyes a rest.
When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind you, the light will reflect(反射) on the screen. If the window is in front of you, the sun and the screen will both shine into your eyes.
Your hands and wrists(手腕)
Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same way hundreds of times. If you use a keyboard for a long time, follow these rules: ①Rest your wrists on something. ②Keep your elbows at the same height as the keyboard. ③Stop sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists and fingers in a different way.
Your back
Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in the wrong way, you can injure your back or your neck. So you should sit with your back straight. The top part of the screen should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms, wrists, hands and the upper part of your legs should all the parallel (平行) to the floor. If you are sitting for a long time, get up every 30 minutes and exercise your arms, legs and neck.

When your pen is broken, the battery in your toy runs out, or you have some leftover food, what do you do with these things? You will probably throw them all into one trashbin. But actually, all of these pieces of trash need to be sorted (分类) separately.

Garbage sorting is a big problem worldwide. In recent years, some Chinese cities have been working hard on it.

Shanghai has worked with Alipay to create a "green account (账户)" service for its residents (居民). Account holders get points by correctly sorting their garbage. Through the Alipay app, they can exchange the points for milk, phone cards and other products. The city is asking all of its residents to sort their garbage into four groups: wet, recyclable (可回收的), harmful and dry.

Wet waste is also known as household waste. "They are things you don't want but that pigs can eat," Guangzhou Daily explained.

Paper, metal (金属), glass and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste.

Harmful waste includes things like medicine, batteries and fluorescent bulbs (荧光灯泡).

Finally, any waste that's not wet, recyclable or harmful will go in the "dry waste" bin.

Many other Chinese cities are also using this method to sort their garbage. For example, Shenzhen has been sorting its garbage into the same four groups since 2012. Students there also receive waste-sorting guidebooks that they must study.

China is improving its waste-sorting efforts. There is still a long way to go. But it's never too late to learn how to sort your trash properly and protect the environment.

If you don't sort your garbage, all of it will go to a landfill (垃圾填埋场) and be buried together. These landfills can take up large areas of ground that could have been used for planting trees. The electronic waste you throw away, such as batteries, can pollute the soil and water. Other pieces of garbage, like the metal part of a pen, can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.

Different cultures have their own manners and customs. For example French like to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (拥抱) or kiss when they greet each other, but others might just s{#blank#}2{#/blank#} hands or bow. It is also a big challenge to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (表现,举止) well at the dinner table in different countries. For example, Chinese people use chopsticks. They think it's i{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to wave or play with sticks when eating. But Indians don't u{#blank#}5{#/blank#} use forks, knives or spoons for eating food. They prefer eating with their fingers.

People celebrate {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (假期,假日) and festivals in different ways, too. Some cultures have loud music and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (令人激动的) dances to attract event-goers. While in other cultures, people prefer a q{#blank#}8{#/blank#} and relaxing environment.

 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C三个选项中,选出最佳选项。

"Learning a language is easy. Even a child can do it!"

Most adults who are learning a second language would disagree with the above sentences. For them, learning a language is a very difficult task. They need hundreds of hours to study and practise, and that will not guarantee success for every adult language learner.

Language learning is different from other kinds of learning. Some people who are very intelligent and successful in their fields find it difficult to succeed in language learning. However, some people who are successful language learners find it difficult to succeed in other fields.

Language teachers often offer advice to language learners: Read as much as you can in the new language; practise speaking the language every day; live with people who speak the language you want to learn; don't translate—try to think in the new language; learn as a child would learn—play with the language and so on.

But what does a successful language learner do? Language learning research shows that successful language learners are similar in many ways.

First of all, successful language learners are independent learners.

Secondly, successful language learning is active learning.

Finally, successful language learners are learners with a purpose.

What kind of language learner are you? If you are a successful language learner, you have probably been learning independently, actively, and purposefully.
